The other thread about speeding inspired this one.

How many moving, traffic citations have you received in your driving career?

I'll start. Been driving 44 years and I've gotten two. One for a rolling stop, 5 years ago.-prick! Sorry Vinegarjoe.:peace: I was in the middle of farm fields at a 4 way & didn't come to a complete stop at 9 AM.

And one for inattentive driving, which really should have been a DUI:drunk: since I hit a parked car on the street. That one was 35 years ago.

I was stopped once for speeding, but just got a warning. I rarely speed, (or no more than +5) just wasn't paying attention. I was about +13 on the interstate.

    3 Speeding Tickets.

1 Loud exhaust, 1 Stop sign violation, 1 willfill wanton disregard for safety,

    1 Weaving,

1 DUI, (dismissed by prosecutor because it was total BS) But still cost me $2500 in atty fees.

And all but one speeding ticket happened while riding Harley-Davidson MC's over the course of the last 20 years.

16 years driving and one speeding ticket. A motorcycle cop got me coming off the ramp headed to Trop after dropping my mom off at McCarran. 43 in 35 or some nonsense. It wasn't my vehicle and I was coming downhill.

All right, I'm curious what you did to get a ticket for willful wanton disregard for safety.:poke:

I was leaving a party on my MC, not drinking or anything, just leaving. It was in this horseshit small town back in a neighborhood, I pulled out of the driveway and there was a small alley at the intersection, barely big enough for one car. I passed thru without "slowing" to look up the ally and then went 40 in a 15 zone. Because there were people across the street in the park, the Officer tried to say that the speed and the passing thru the intersection constituted a "willlful and wanton disregard for safety". I showed up for Mayors court and the Mayor fined me like $40 in court costs and said get out of here. He couldnt even understand the charges, I had to explain it to him.

Just small town BS. Same jerk later pulled me over in the next small town, where he also worked and gave me a loud exhaust ticket in a 4cyl Plymouth. This was all in like 1990 or 1992.

I prefer to think in terms of quality rather than quantity. For example, I have a fairly rare speeding ticket on my record. I was the first to be nabbed by aircraft in a particular jurisdiction (per the cop writing the ticket). And since Virginia all but discontinued this practice within a few years of starting it, I am among an exclusive group of Virginia scofflaws! :rolleyes2:

I'm a good girl. :wink2: I have a couple of speeding tickets, but I swear that one of them is not my fault.

I had a Geo Metro and I was heading up over the coastal mountains. (Over Hwy 17 to Santa Cruz from Los Gatos for those in the SF Bay Area). There is this section by the reservoir where you have a short downhill and then around a curve, a steep uphill. I was speeding. Like 4-5 miles over the limit because I was passing someone. As I came around that corner, I saw the officer spin around and hit me with his radar gun.

I pulled over and he said he was citing me for 75+. Um.. did you see the part where I said I had a Geo? Yup.. 3 cylinders.. up hill. There is no way I was going 75+. I could barely do that downhill in that car. :haha:

I went to court about it and it went like this:

Me: It is not possible for me to have been going that fast.
Judge: Do you want to go to trial?
Me: No, but it's not possible for me to go that fast in my car. It's a Geo!
Judge: Do you want to go to trial?
Me: No, but this car just won't go uphill that fast.
Judge: Do you want to go to trial?
    Me: No.. but.. no.
Judge: Pay the fine with the clerk.

I should have taken it to trial. :)

I've been driving for nearly 50 years and received a ticket for running a red light (while still in high school) and one citation for "improper lane change" over 35 years ago – both in Norfolk. That's not to say that I shouldn't have been ticketed for many infractions over the years, but … well, let's just say I wish my luck in the casinos was half has good as on the road. By some miracle, I've never caused an accident (though I've been involved in a couple), and never got a DUI. Quitting while ahead, I no longer mix alcohol and driving - the "amateur drunks" have ruined things for the rest of us!

3 speeding and 1 illegal left turn in 18 years.

The illegal left turn was funny. Had a brain fart, both forgot and missed the sign saying no left turn (it wasn't onto a one way or anything). But I was waiting at the green for oncoming traffic to clear, with my signal light on, and what I think is a cube van behind me is honking at me. I can't go yet so I ignore it. 15 seconds later its clear, so I go. See the flashing lights and pull over, and still have NO IDEA why.

He asks for my ID, etc, and I ask "excuse me officer, what exactly did I do wrong?". To which he replies that its an illegal left and he tried to honk to let me know I couldn't turn there. Iit was a police paddywagon, not a squad car, so I couldn't tell it was cop. Even better, as I'm waiting for the ticket I get a cell call from an acquaintance I'm meant to give a ride to the next day, and have to tell him I'll have to call back because I'm in the middle of getting a ticket. He hadn't gotten a ride from me before, so I'm not sure that inspired confidence.

I was driving sbout 35,000 miles a year for business, got a speeding ticket on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, too fast through a work zone. No workers were present, just lanes were shifted. The officer knocked it down to "disregard of posted signage" so there was a fine but no points.

The following day, I was on a small two lane state road that has multiple speed zones and the local chief of police pulled me over for speeding through his town. I told him I just received a speeding ticket the previous day and asked if he could just write me up for "disregard of posted signage" and he did. Two days, two fines, no points. I was pretty lucky as I was driving a company car.

Beyond these two tickets, probably another 4 or so and maybe 4 warnings back in the day when things were not so uptight and by the book.

Been driving for 13 years and I've forgotten how many tickets/times I've been pulled over. I think I'm around 7 speeding tickets and maybe 12 times getting pulled over for stupid shit. Havn't had a speeding ticket in 6 years though!

What, you're not impressed with my 35 year driving record? I think it's pretty good.
How many moving violations have you had? By the way, I have speeded(is that a term?) pretty much every day for those 35 years, that's something like 25000 times, figuring going and coming...but the true figure is probably 50000 times, since I rarely only go somewhere once a day.

Either I am the luckiest man in the world, or your fears are unfounded.

    25 years of driving...

Got my first ticket after just turning 18, I was doing 47 in a 25. Police Officer, knocked it down to 45, so I could waive and just pay the fine. That fine was well over 150.00 25 years ago..... My grandmother loaned me the money and my parents didnt find out for many years.

Jump ahead A LOT of years, married, driving a rental SUV down to Charlotte North Carolina for a weekend getaway, I was running with the traffic. WE all got pulled over from 5 Police offiers sitting on an on ramp. We passed someone doing 95. He never would tell me how fast I was going, but could have tossed me in jail for the weekend since it was early Saturday morning. Knocked that ticket down to 85 and let me go with a ticket. That ticket was 70.00, 10.00 fine and 60.00 in court costs... and we wonder why NASCAR drivers live in North Carolina. I'll pay those fees all day long.

In 1998, The girls out here, that know what Longaberger baskets are, well I was headed home from where they are made here in Ohio. With my husband and one of his friends, we had to get home for a party that night at a family members house. I was probably doing 85. Got pulled over, the police officer saw the bags in the back, said his ex-wife collects them too.. Yep, I knew I was getting a ticket then. I dont remember how much that ticket was, but the joke stands my husband and his friend HAD to get away from all the estrogen in that area and he was making me speed.....

I'm really not a speed demon (Did I mention I used to race circle track cars, when I was younger?) Just when I get caught, I get caught, I make sure its worth it! I let my husband do most of the driving when we travel now, he seems to have better luck.

Coming back from a Tunica trip, I was on a long straight road going up hill. There's a HP right behind me, there's a semi (and more) in front of me, so I put on my signal, set the cruise on the speed limit, and pass the truck. I wanted to go around the rest, but knew there was a cop back there. Put signal back on, pull in front of truck and get pulled over.

I asked what did I do, he said improper passing. I said how do you figure, there was no yellow line and I wasn't speeding, and this prick says the trucker tapped his brakes.

Fast forward two weeks later, I get nailed doing 72 in a 55 on a curvy road, ask this HP about the passing ticket. I quote: "sounds like bullshit to me"

He wrote that ticket for 57, no points.

No tickets... not even a parking one. I go right at or slightly above the speed limit where ever I go. Lot less stress that way... what's the hurry?
Like Greg Allman said, I'm no "angel", but I just don't drive fast.

Oh Boy.....sometimes embarrassing but all true.....

Have lived in the same town since birth.....not real small but I know enough of the right folks.....

When I was younger I was stopped several times....all for minor things.....slow row through a stop sign or a few mile over the speed limit in speed trap areas........but I knew 2-3 police officer VERY well......grew up across the street from a couple........so DROP a NAME and see ya......

But now most of those guys are retired...... :(

HOWEVER, now I'm a fire police man (actually a Lt.).......so I have been pulled over here and there, but each patrol man recognized me and gave me a deserved warning....you know....come to a COMPLETE STOP next time... :(

OH, and once the wife got stopped because we let the yearly inspection expire....but again, just a warning to get 'r done ASAP....:nono:

It's VERY nice living in a town where you know just about anybody that matters.....
