I took my son up to Tunica, MS for a 2 night stay at Harrah’s offered through CET. It was a pretty good bargain with 2 nights lodging and charter air for a low price, so we took advantage of it for a quick getaway.

I try to be a rational person and try to eschew any sort of superstitious behavior which, granted, is difficult at the craps table. I'm a "low roller," but a tough player and very orderly in my manner at the tables.

Anyway, I’m at a jamb-up busy table at Harrah’s on our first night and shooting the dice for what is turning out to be a very nice roll. I was shooting multiple passes and number after number. The beginnings of a real monster.....

I make my point and as the dice are presented to me for the next come out roll, a man who was standing behind my left shoulder wedges his arm between me and the player to my left and slips a $100 bill UNDERNEATH the dice!!

He didn’t throw it on the layout before I shot. He didn’t throw it on the layout while the dice were in the air. No! He SLIPPED IT UNDERNEATH THE DICE while I was reaching for them!! There wasn’t an inch between me and the player to my left, and this bozo just wedges his way in!

Now I know that it’s just a superstition that if dice hit money on the layout that they’ll seven out. I know not to believe it. But this move was so rude and so deliberate that I just didn’t know what to do. I almost called all of my place bets off. (I was across the board at this point with most all of them pressed.) I thought about asking for the stick man to take the dice back and re-present them or to dump the bowl and get different ones, but I just had never encountered this move before. I just didn’t know what to do.

So, I decided to let rationality reign and picked up the dice and shot them. The dealer hollers, “No action on money on the line!” as the dice fly. After they hit the back wall I hear, “Seven OUT! Line Away!”

I was just so mad I couldn’t stand it!! :grrr:

The doofus that slipped the c-note under the dice put the entire $100 on the field and the legitimate player to my left immediately rolls a TWELVE!!

A seven out for the table. A crap on the come out for the shooter and DOUBLE PAYOUT for that idiot!! :grrr:

I don’t know why I even play this stupid game, sometimes.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

    I knew you'd understand.

I just had to tell someone……..

It's great that you can vent out your frustrations here. I feel for you and I feel your pain.

I have seen that kind of thing happen before. Someone wanted to try to sneak in and throw money on the table when there wasn't room. Once I saw the shooter stop play and asked the pit crew to remove the cuplrit. The pit crew then told the guy that the table was filled and wouldn't allow his bet.

If I were in your situation I probably would hold up play until the $100 was removed, not touching the dice until the money was taken away. If you weren't shooting I would probably off my bets for that one roll (I also do it when the dice go off the table). I know, superstitous but I have seen a lot of 7 outs in those situations that I instinctively just off my bets for a roll or more.

We always seem to have some people who do things to disrupt the game, like people who always make last second bets while the dice is being thrown or the second before the dice is thrown, or people who stick their hands out so the dice hits them.

What day were you there? I was there last weekend 08/10-12 and spent a lot of time at the craps tables. I promise it was not me. I would have wanted to hit him.( I wouldn't have).

    Now you know

This is exactly the reason why I do not play table games. I know there are a select few out there who look down on us slot players, calling it a mindless game with poor odds etc.
I'd rather put up with someone slamming buttons, being nosey when my machine hits a bonus round or blowing smoke my way than to stand elbow to elbow with a bunch of strangers.

Especially when it comes to people who act the way you just described. At least with slots it's just your money on the line so it's easier to get up and walk away.

Personally, I’m a bit more charitable to our slot playing brethren.

I will freely admit that many of the new games with the video and audio enhancements and the different bonus rounds are enormously entertaining.

I will even confess that I actually segregated $100.00 that I earned from a horrible job last year to specifically play the “Hangover” machine during a visit last January. I mean, the Hangover machine is such wicked fun it’s just hard to resist.

Truly the “machine that you hate to love!”

Not all slots are mindless. Certainly, the entertainment value for your money has greatly increased over the years.

Still, the only even money that any casino offers is on the crap table and the combined pass line bet with odds is the lowest fixed percentage proposition against the player of any casino game. A fact that keeps us "in the game," despite all of the frustrations.

    Good Luck and Best Wishes!

Sounds like you're just trying to blame your losses on someone else.

Less these days, but for years that is all I played until I discovered VP. But I honestly don't think I have superstitions at the table. One goes off the table, I never asked for same dice unless people around me were yelling for me to get the same one. Hot roll of course.

I never heard of this money touch the dice thing. But, I totally understand superstitions, jinxes etc.

    Gamblers are a superstitious bunch.:peace:

Yeah the Hangover is fun! So tell me what does it mean when someone puts money under the dice? Is it a dominance thing?
Why not just put the money on the table? And doesn't it need to be exchanged for chips first before that person is able to play?

I don't have a clue what it means, other than the guy is a total idiot! :Þ

I guess he wanted for his $100 bill to play on the field, so his intent was to just sliiiiiiide it forward until it was totally in the field. The fact the the players were shoulder-to-shoulder at the table didn't deter him. Neither did the fact that there was no space for his chips in the rail, or the fact that the dealer couldn't see him.

And yes, cash is normally is exchanged for chips, which is what the dealer did after I sevened-out. (By this time he had shoved his whole body between me and the player to my left in order to place his field bet and take advantage of the craps roll. :rolleyes2:) You will occasionally see players play bills on the layout, but the dealer or boxman will declare "Money plays" when booking the bet. Should the bet win, the dealer will then typically exchange the bill for chips and then pay the bet with the correct number of chips as well.

The guy was incredibly rude & that sucks for anyone.

I'm not superstitious at all. But I've debated taking my 1 foot tall Travelocity gnome that goes around the world with me (I get interesting pictures wherever I go. The eye in the sky really wanted to see him when I asked a pit boss if I could take a picture of him on an empty craps table in Encore. Got the picture too). I think a travelocity gnome on the rack with the chips would be priceless.

Couple thoughts on this thread: 1. Craps players are way too superstitious; 2. Dude with the $100 was way out of line. That was just rude, regardless of superstition; and 3. CET craps tables try to invite too many players. I mean, how many fire bet spots do they have at their tables? 14? 16? CET really wants to pack people shoulder to shoulder at the craps table. Happy I don't play $5 craps anymore because the cheap tables (especially in Tunica) are always bursting with people.

The reason there are superstitions is because they Keep. Coming. True.
One weekend in Reno I decided to count how many times a seven came up when the dice hit chips. It was 13 out of 13. Not 13 out of 15, or 11 out of 13, it was EVERY SINGLE TIME.
The dice have sevened out every time my Lady comes up behing me for the last five years. Every. Freakin'. Time.
How can I not be superstitious?

So true...after a while you stop being rational and just go with the superstitious flow...

    1. If a player buys in during my hot roll (I usually have my own side with my friends but on the other side), I will ask him if he wants to place any bets before rolling, because sometimes they can't make up their minds and their hands reach in while the dice is in the air and hits their hands...an inevitable 7 out.

    2. If a player comes up and leans his head over the table, or touches the table on my side during my hot roll, I have the pit boss ask him politely to step 5 feet back from the table.

    3. If the cocktail waitress comes, and I have to pay her, I usually have the stickman bring the dice back to the middle, and wait until her calls of drinks drinks fade away....

    It gets weirder...

    4. If the dice flies off the table, I don't call my bets off, but I have to place a hopping bet for the point. If I do nothing, I believe it will always 7 out.

    5. If I have one denomination of chips that add up to 7 (for instance 7 red chips, 7 green chips, 7 black chips, 7 yellow chips), I have to bet the extra 1 chip...usually for the boys if black or under.

    6. If the hardways bets add up to 7 chips, I always press one more. For example if there are 2 units on 3 hardways and 1 unit on the other, I have to add a unit somewhere. I also will do different units depending on the point, so usually when the point is 6, I have increments in 3 on all my hardways, hop bets, and horn bets.

    7. If on a hot roll, and a dealer changes, i will do a hop bet for the point or a bet for the dealers. Can't let that motion go unnoticed.

    8. If another table loudly proclaims 7 out, I will loudly shout a hopping bet for the point.

See how much crap I have to keep track of at the table? it is sick. and you think you are superstitious.

I would have been just as annoyed. I don't like it when anyone messes with the dice or the shooter. It is even annoying when the dealers hold up the shooter doing some math. Why do they think they call it a "roll?" You need to keep rolling. I'm even surprised that the dealers let him get so close to the dice.

I feel your pain. At least you had a good run before it happened.

    It's unlucky to be superstitious.

I consider myself a rational man. I know the math of the games I play. I know about randomness. I know all these things.

But..........GAWD DAMN IT! ARghhhh! Why does all that stuff always happen?!!!

At least the pushy jerk didn't throw down his money and say, "Now don't throw a SEVEN on me."
