I know the Vegas experience is not cheap. Are there any reasonably priced stores in the area (CVS or Rite Aid) for beer, snacks and sunscreen kind of stuff maybe in walking distance from the Flamingo?

There are a couple of stores (maybe ABC??) in the Miracle Mile Shops behind PH. We go there to pick up anything we might need....

There's a Walgreen's at street level between Venetian and Palazzo that has all of those things. I don't know if that's closer than the Miracle Mile shops or not. I think it's probably about the same distance.

I don't think Walgreens has beer and wine.I know ABC in Miracle Mile does and is probably a little closer to Flamingo.

    liquor/convenience store

There is a place called the Stage Door, I have not been there but have read about it on these boards. Its on Flamingo next door to Bill's Gambling Hall.
It is about one block east of the strip.

    For on The Strip:

    ABC Stores:
    - inside Fashion Show Mall
    - across the street from Monte Carlo
    - two inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood

    CVS:
    - out front of Monte Carlo

    Walgreens:
    - between Venetian and Palazzo
    - out front of Planet Hollywood
    - across the street from Monte Carlo/Aria

    Other:
    - AM/PM across the street from Luxor
    - behind Bill's Gambling Hall going away from The Strip is a little bar and convenience store (this is probably closest to Flamingo)
    - there is a liquor store on the upper level of Excalibur
    - there is a liquor store across the street from Mandalay Bay
    - most of the souvenir shops you see between Planet Hollywood and MGM Grand (the strip mall, Hawaiian marketplace, Grand Canyon store, etc) all sell alcohol and water, some carry snack type foods as well

That Walgreen's has beer, wine and liquor.

I forgot about the store at Stage Door, that would be closest to Flamingo. I've never been in there; they would have beer, wine, liquor and snacks but I don't know about sunscreen, etc (it wouldn't surprise me if they did have it).

Stage Door I think will be a little more expensive than Walgreen's or ABC but I don't know for sure. Walgreen's and ABC prices will be a little bit more than what you're used to at home, but nothing outrageous.

I nominate Auggie's answer to be the basis for a sticky on this rather common question ...

The Carnival Court liquor store moved to the front of Flamingo this past spring. I went in May. Small, not sure about wine selection...but definitely beer and hard liquor.

Ahhh, The Stage Door. Right next to Batistas. Every trip to Vegas I see at least one person getting cuffed n stuffed into a squad car in their parking lot.

I've been to the Stage Door. It reminds me more of a gas station/convenience store than a drug store. If you're looking for snacks/drinks, it's perfect. If you forgot your shampoo, you'll probably want to make the trek to a Walgreens or CVS. They also have a beer and hot dog special for around 2 bucks if you got really hungry. It's safe, clean and quick to get in and out of, which cannot always be said for Walgreens!
