My goal for this trip is to simply get that beautiful sight of COMP when I go to book my next room nights. Doesn't matter if it is IP/Flamingo/Ballys. I just want to see it.

I will be up front, it is really hard for me to bear watching my money disappear in slot machines, but I do like video poker.

Any recommendations on how to earn this on my 4 day trip. I see some low rollers here talk about their room comps at the low to mid tier CET props, so how in the world do I pull it off? I know there is no science to it so to speak- but any recommendations on where I should plop myself down to play some video poker without getting destroyed by the CET paytables?

I hear Sully's in Bally's is a good one? Heart Bar? Bugsy's in Flamingo?

    Thanks! :nworthy:

If your looking for the best pay tables, then stay away from the bars. They have the worst payback by far.

Look for floor games that have a better return and just run a couple hundred through a day and you should see some offers.

If you want CET comps on the low roller scale, play some slots in with your VP. My first trip I was totally VP, got nothing. Second trip, mixed in some slots, got a 2 day offer. Did the same next trip and I have 4 day offers all over the place, and weekends a IP>

In order to get the comp, I'd think that you' be better off playing all slots at CET and then play your VP somewhere that has some decent pay tables.

Nice point. I stay at Ballys or Flamingo and walk over to Ellis Island for my steak, beer and VP needs. All three are much better at the Island!!

So its looking like slots are the best way to go huh? Damn. I mean sure I see people get some decent wins, and some swear by them, but god I never see any wins with my own money.

Any machine recommendations? I dont really want to play $6 a spin if thats what necessary. Any fun machines that people generally flock to?

I know there is no machine that does necessarily better, but I would rather enjoy my time and maybe have a chance at winning something. I am a table player by nature, but not enough to get rated. With slot machines, I feel so overwhelmed because I try to judge which one might produce the better outcome, or which of the penny slots I wont have to invest 400 pennies a spin into ;)

Slot play will get you room comps much faster than VP due to the fact that VP is a skill game and slots are pure luck!

Play some slots at 80cents to about a buck a spin. Aristocrats are my favorite like Buffalo or Wicked Winnings 2. The latter is a highly volatile machine and may eat your money or pay you big!

I'm a very low roller, play about a buck a spin, with $300 a day BR for slots, and I get free (COMP) room offers for all CET properties mid-week. So you could spend less and get free rooms easily at IP, Flaming-O, or Bally's.

I normally never bet more than $1 per spin on penny slots. If I am going to be playing the entire day, it's normally .40, .50 or so per spin. My bankroll is $400 per day but it has been MANY trips since I have blown thru that much. I went thru about $850 out of pocket the last 2 trips for FIVE days. I was able to recycle my money nicely playing a variety of slots at Harrahs, Flamingo, Paris, IP & Ballys (small amounts of IP & Rio thrown in).

I consistently seem to earn 400-600 TC's per day. I receive 5 free nights nearly all year (few minor misses) everywhere but Caesars (a few weekdays there).

I also earn anywhere from $50 to $100 in comp dollars each trip on my card.

I am happy with the $850 because with all of that I have a free room (normally valued in the $700-950 range at Flamingo - GO or Paris), about $100 worth of food plus sometimes a purse, show ticket or other promo (slot tourney this trip with $100 free play). So I feel I am getting a TON more - trip, fun, room etc., for the same money I could spend locally.

I will say when I have fewer hours in the day to play I have a tendency to up my bet & blow through my money a LOT faster. So if you are trying to do it 'quick & dirty' you may end up spending more. I also have to avoid machines like Wizard of Oz, Sex & the City, etc., that seem to bleed me dry without earning anything extra.

Bad move. You should go to a casino and have fun. Do not worry about comps. With your strategy you will end up paying(losing) $800 trying to get a free room.
You want a free room. Get a CET Visa card. Use it for everything, but pay it off monthly. You will get free rooms all the time. I'm a low low roller and already have my 4 nights comp for Superbowl weekend. Now that is using your head not your money.:peace:

are you getting these comps via offers or just using the points you've accumulated? I have a CET visa too and have been steadily getting points.

I use the points(comp dollars) for food. But I get the 3 month brochure for free rooms in LV. I'm sure I only get the comp rooms because of my visa.

From everything they have said you only earn reward credits & no tier credits with the CC? So it shouldn't on it's own be giving you free rooms. However, who knows with the logic these players clubs use!!!

As long as you have the CC & a players card, log in & enter your dates online & see what comes up. If you haven't created a log-in ID for online, it takes only a minute or two. You do not necessarily need 'offers' - if you don't have any, just enter your dates into the calendar & select Las Vegas.

You could get a cash advance on your CC at the bank, and then transfer the money from your bank account to the VISA, so that the 850 BR gets points on the card, but you pay it immediately, so win-win - cash AND points.

Last year I took a $2000 bankroll and played BJ at Ballys for 2 nights at $50 a hand, at probably one of the worst table rules on the strip. I ended up losing about $100 total and now I am comped at all CET properties. I am using 4 nights at Flamingo next week.

You also normally incur a percentage fee for the advance - check your disclosures. It can be VERY hefty.

You can rack up a $500 loss to get free rooms.

    OR

You can pa $69 a night for rooms instead.

I've been able to get 3-5 days at a time mid week most of the low end CET properties. I did not really play much to have to get it, mostly poker( at least 8 hours a day) with some Video poker mixed in. if you have an account on total rewards website are you checking by going to the reservations link at top and click on view rate calender ? i honestly did not play very much at all at CET properties my first time to Vegas and was able to comp 5 days in a row for my 2nd trip....

    CET Comps

Until last year, I had never received and free stuff from Vegas. What changed was taking part in the Great Race Promotion. And I found out about that from this website and immediately rented a car from a link on this site.

My race included a trip to Vegas, Laughlin and several casinos in the Midwest. In November when Total rewards credited me the 60,000 points I earned, the rate calendar showed a few free rooms. I made a total of 3 trips last year.

Looking at my rate calendar, from now till November, free rooms are sparse. Starting November, there are free rooms midweek at all casinos but Caesars Palace. I haven't been back to Vegas since December 2011, and the free rooms are still there.

In my opinion, and I can't remember if you have a planned trip, I would seriously consider playing the Great Race and earning 50,000 to 75,000 points and include a Vegas trip in there.

When they credit your account in November, you should be able to find free rooms just about anywhere most of the year. If you can plan 2-3 months in advance, the free rooms should be there.

If you follow this advice, you won't have to ask the question again and you will also have 500-750 in free food, some shopping, shows, and even a couple of hundred in emergency cash should you need it.

As someone who has only been to Vegas twice, the first trip 5 years ago and then the 2nd this past February, I wasnt expecting to see a COMP or a good discount when I got back..

DH and I are pretty low rollers, and for 5 nights and with almost 100% of gambling done on slots we only had a bankroll of like $1k...now, I will admit, that we both put back into the machines what we won...which wasnt much...

BUT..when I got back home and was ready to book another trip, I found COMP all over the CET calendar..

and I scored a 4 night comp room at the Paris (where we stayed this last time) on a Thursday-Monday this coming up January....

so, the sister and I are having a girls only trip!!

It can be done!!! I will mention that I've only seen one postcard in my mailbox referencing my CET discounts, but there are 7 offers in my TR account..

    Keep checking!!
