Why do I care that NOIR will be invite only?

I am currently NOIR ( have been for a couple years) and based on my play, I'll probably get the 'invite'.

My question is: with the new system coming, how will NOIR being invite only benefit me?

I doubt that there would be any new advantages or benefits to the player for Noir going to invite only... and that all reasons for doing so are to benefit the casinos.

The whole point of these top tiers in programs like MLife or Total Rewards is to allow the loyalty program to identify who are the elite gamblers and give them special benefits.

But the problem with not making them invite only is that smaller players who have some luck or visit their local casino a lot can grind their way up and in to the top tiers.

Of course the casinos do want the money of these loyal regular customers, but just that they don't want somebody who might go to their local casino with $100-200 a trip four to five times a month possibly grinding their way up to a top tier and then getting all these benefits when the reality is they are just a penny or nickle slot player or maybe a quarter VP grinder.

Well, it will weed out the "lesser" Noir players. The locals that logged in 100 visits in a year to get there. The more exclusive the better I would assume. Like Groucho Marx said, "I don't want to be a member of any club that would have me!"

Less members means more limos available if you need it, faster Noir line at Valet etc I would guess. Plus I would think the more exclusive the club is, the more serious you will be taken when you flash that card. I went to check mlife.com to see exactly what more Noir players get but the site is down now! :Þ

Dammit Auggie you beat me by 3 minutes! Bright minds think alike. :evillaugh The lesser Noir players I'm sure are the reason they are changing things up. Hell, if I was a local Noir I'd so abuse the system. I'd take the free limo to the airport, run in and buy a hot dog and have them drive me back to the hotel!

Jerks like me are the reason its changing.

CET Seven Stars is invite only as well. However, I've only known of one person who was uninvited after earning the requisite points...and she was a known advantage player. I suspect just about anyone who earns the points will be invited.

So how does an invite happen? I'm 150k away from Noir under the current system. I will probably hit that magic number during my trip in a couple weeks. Hoping I will get the Noir card before they reset everything to zero on Oct 1

I don't know. If you spend enough money to get there, they should kiss you ass. After all, you have given it to them.

UKFanatic I was going to ask the same question.
I am 205K away now but will hit it on my Aria trip 8/31-9/4.
The way understand it we should stay at the level until next 10/1 and see if we are invited.
I'm sure it will be how much we play in the next 12 months.
Shifter probably has a better idea but I'll bet it's going to be closer to 2 million points.

That's basically what I am assuming as well. Wanted to see if I could slip in under the wire!

I am noir too. Got it after my second stay with Bellagio after I dumped caesar. I really don't think that the tier credits had much to do with it at the tme of course, but I guess they need to label you somehow after you have several bazillion tc's. Like trig!

I believe under the old system - before they started letting people earn their way to "Noir" on points alone - you had to have an actual and/or theoretical loss of $100K or more in a 12-month period. I don't believe any number of points would've gotten you to "Noir" before without hitting that $100K number on actual loss or theo.

Hahaha, its probably partly my fault they're changing it back to invite! I've taken the aria and MB limo home with my friends a few times. Much better then taking a cab. One of my faborite perks of being a local noir card holder is the access to MB beach for me and my friends.

I grinded my way up to noir losing over 20k last year, God damned right I'm gonna use every single benefit I can get with it.

I've been to just about every single concert, show and event at MB events center, MGM Grand, the HOB and MB Beach. I've stayed in a room at an MGM property about 120
nights last year (all at nice properties in nice suites, no Excal here), I've eaten in every restaurant I've wanted to, I've played in about 10 slot tournaments where I've gotten from $100-$500 in FP, I've had tixs
to 2 NYE galas and 4 NYE block party tickets each year for my friends, a minimum of $250
a month in bi weekly FP, I've probably gotten 200 comped packs of cigs and countless other perks.

I'm gonna miss Noir next year lol.

You get to feel like part of an exclusive club instead of the worlds biggest coupon clipper? And your host can keep you Noir even if you haven't played enough recently to maintain it?

yep, that's what you need. if you want to qualify based on theo, that requires about 3-4M TCs. that's why it's going to weed out many players because 1M can be earned based on frequent visits. 3-4M requires very high play in addition to frequent visits.

If your annual loss is $100k, then she should just put a big reversible sign on your forehead that says on one side "Kiss My Ass" and the other side would say "Oops, lost my Ass here, can you help me?"

Yep, consider me weeded out! :grrr: To hit the $100k theo level, I would basically have to triple my wagering. And I don't see that happening unless my year long hot streak continues for another 30 months!!!

    I'm weeded out too.
I will hit 1 million over Labor Day weekend with my normal play.
So I may be Noir through 10/13 after that, highly unlikely.
As long as they keep comping me in Sky Suites and taking care of all or most of F+B I'm just fine with that.

I'm starting my own club called "Noir".

I'm inviting Jim Murren's wife, and the first comp is a pearl necklace.

    Enjoy.

If I had never been Noir, then I probably would have been tempted to raise my level of play to get there. Now, not so much.

I automatically became a Noir when they issued the 1 million TC policy, and I should be at about 2 million TC by the time they change the program again in October. But after a year as a Noir, I just don't see that the tangible benefits have been special enough for me to care whether I get an invite when the "grace period" runs out in 2013.

Then again, perhaps they will raise the perks for the "real" players again once the riffraff like me have been cleared out. (More likely, I suppose, is that they'll lower the Platinums' perks instead.)
