I want to play in a craps tournament. Anyone did this? How do I get myself into one?

What is the object of the game? Is it the one with the most chips or the last one with chips?

    I want to play...

I got invited (free) to one at The Cal. Didn't do so well, but very similar to a slot tourney. We all started with the same amount in chips. There were several sessions. If you were in the top chip count, you moved on to the next session. Last session, whoever had the most chips won, but they paid down several places, I don't recall how many places. It was fun.

Prior to the tourney, I did a little research on the Internet for strategy, but the advise was all over the map. I went for the big wins, but maybe if I did it again, I'd be more conservative with my bets in the 1st round, just so I might have a chance to move to round 2. I didn't have enough chips to move past the first session.

I now play less & less craps so I'll probably never get another invite. BTW, my craps play is at MSS, but the invite came from The Cal. I know-both Boyd, just saying.

A friend of mie got invited to one once so I went to watch him play. It was miserable! He intentionally lost all his chips after half an hour. You're not allowed to interact with the other players or people watching the action. It was the quietest craps session in history!

That to me would suck all the fun out of the tournament. The best part about the game is the excitement of a live table and all the social interaction.

Exactly! We walked by the tournament tables about six hours after it started. Still just a table of players blankly staring at the felt, nobody reacting to anything. Afterward, I jokingly told my host that if she ever sent me an invite to a craps tournament, I would never play at the hotel again, lol

I wonder how much craps play will get you invited. I play a lot at the Boyd properties downtown but mostly table minimums up to green chips. Never was invited but have talked to others who were. Forgot to ask them how much they play to get invited.

In May, we visited Orleans Hotel for the first time ever and spent only one night. I only played their machine craps and did not get on the table. A couple of weeks ago, I received an invitational to their $15,000 shootout in October that includes three free nights.

I do not recall ever receiving any invitation from the Boyd downtown hotels. We normally stay at MSS.

Are you sure you aren't allowed to or do not want to as in tourney play you are playing against them rather than real play when everyone is usually playing together (minus the dark side)?

I like playing craps at the Orleans. Played there last Nov. I guess that's too long ago to get invited to the Oct. shoot-out. I didn't recieve any offers from them.

I read on these before. Sounds like it could be fun. The quiet part would be odd but I've played some games where players are quiet anyway. Or the don't seem to want to interact. It was like a table of corpses.

Who shoots the dice In a tourney?

I really liked the casino. If I knew of the tournament earlier, I would have booked a longer visit. We are staying at Main Street and leaving Vegas on tournament check-in day. I was surprised to see the other great offers for our one night visit and it is probably a marketing strategy.

I'm a $5 player on the pass line and usually make a few $5 place bets. If I win place bets I'll press up one unit at a time. Hot table-I might end up with some greens out there, but a 7 out and I'm back to $5. I was actually surprised I got the invite.
It was a few years ago and now the majority of my budget is 90% VP & 10% craps.

I didn't find the experience to be boring, players were still cheering for points to be made. The more they win, the more chips and a chance to move. There were a couple of dark side bettors, but it was a full table.

Your craps play is very similar to mine. I think I would enjoy playing in a craps tournament at the Cal. Double odds suck though...

I read your posts and also another poster, HAWNJOHN, and both of you got offers to tournaments. Both of you also play heavier on VP or slots. I couldn't help but think that these are the players the casinos invite to the tournaments, lol! I can't be that far off in my theory as my brother-in-law plays slots exclusively and gets tons of offers and free rooms while I might get a room or two and mostly casino rate. And the fact of the matter is I spend more money at the tables than him on the slot machines. I wouldn't be surprised if my wife gets invited to the tournament and she only plays slots, (and very sparingly, I might add, lol!)

Maybe I should play more VP and slots. I like playing VP and I might take up that new craps machine everyone is talking about!

This is just a thought. Have you indicated your interests on the B connected site? After logging in, go to MY INTERESTS in the tool bar to see if you have checked your GAMING and GAMING EVENTS interests. You may also want to review your offer preferences. Maybe this may help :)

That's a great idea. Never thought of it. Thanks for the tip! When on the B connected site I always end up looking at the webcam and watching all the people cross the street from Golden Nugget/Binions to Four Queens/Fremont.

Makes me wish I was there already, ha ha....
