We have booked 4 nights at NYNY in November...coming from Australia. Never stayed there before but my American husband has. We have stayed at the Luxor lots of times. Seen recently on Southwest that they have one night free at Planet Hollywood for a little more then the price we have booked for NYNY.

Which would you do?? and why

One advantage I see is there is no resort fee for PH but we get free tickets to a show with our NYNY booking.

PH for sure if we are comparing basic rooms

    No resort fee
    Bigger room
    Connected to a mall
    Better location

How much more to stay at PH?

I have stayed at both and I like the rooms at PH better.

PH is better situated being middle/closer to the middle of strip.

With resort fees at NYNY, it may be a wash with the extra cost to stay at PH.

What show are you getting with NYNY? Zumanity, I would assume, or any choices of Cirque du Soleil shows?

    Personally, I would suggest PH.

Do not get hung up on resort fee. Just add it to the cost of the room. Not sure if you have been to Vegas before.

    P-H is part of CET.
    NYNY is part of MGM.

    Any deals?

PHo has better rooms and location. If it's no more with the resort fee, I'd book it over NYNY.

I have stayed at both, two of my faves. I woud probably just take the better deal. NYNY is a little south, but you can use the Monte Carlo pool which gives it major points. Although, this was last year and I am not sure if it has changed since NYNY remodeled theirs.

I rate the rooms very similair, neither are big, but both had large bathrooms. There is a lot to do at both properties, lots of entertainment at PH with the Miracle Mile shops connected to the property.

Assume you have looked at pricing those separate. Try rooms using your mlife card to see if there are any discounts.

We usually stay at NYNY and its great.
    Numerous places to eat.
Since we play the Slots their selection is great.
We get a refrigerator and tend to use the wifi so the resort more than pays for itself. The rooms are very basic and the bathroom configuration is very small and tight. Great description for a date but not for a bathroom. :wink2:

We are trying out PH for the first time in order to give the CET properties a try and to try something new. I am expecting to play mostly at other CET properties as PH doesn't seem to have a great selection of machines.

I am looking forward to the trip to see how they compare first hand.

We are staying at NYNY for the first time in a few weeks. 1. not listed on the bedbug registry, I know, I know that doesn't guarantee anything. 2. We usually stay at the other end of the strip so we thought we would try this. 3. It's not mid strip so that means my DH will go for the cab rides to the other end of the strip instead of trying to walk-haha.

You'll have fun where ever you stay!

I'm with Captain Ron on this - stay where you can get a better deal. Resort fees at NYNY will add about $80 to your stay - I'd look at what you get for that $80 (i.e. wireless internet, etc) and what charges you would pay at PH for these things. I think both hotels have lots to offer you and in terms of location, I think you could consider them both as mid-strip hotels. Both hotels tend to draw a young crowd ( I'd say mid 20's).

Although I like PH - has a great pool, good casino, great restaurants and shopping, I've been staying at NYNY every year (sometimes twice a year) for the last 10 years and I love it. The rooms are clean and comfortable, a good selection of restaurants but it's the staff that has me going back every year. They are terrific - everyone from the front desk to the dealers, cocktail waitresses and housekeeping are friendly and helpful. Call me crazy ( cause some do!) I like the fact that every year we go back, we see lots of familiar faces. NYNY is not a mega resort so it's easy to get around. Although their pool wasn't the greatest, they totally renovated it and from the pictures I've seen, it looks terrific (might actually go to the pool next trip)!

Have fun and enjoy your trip!

NYNY. I'm not a huge fan of PH, and Resort fees are not a big deal for me since I usually need Network connectivity anyway.

This reminds me of my first LV trip, my top three was TI, PH, and NYNY. I chose PH and it was a great choice. Later stayed at NYNY and you cannot go wrong with either!!

My opinion - PH all the way. Must friendlier staff and better rooms from my experiences. Of course this is in a world where all things are equal, the deal would be the deciding factor for me if there was a major difference.

Funny you mention that. I got my first room comps after staying five days at NYNY........ From Caesars. COMPS depend on your choice of play, its different for everyone. I play a little bit of table games, and much more slots. Caesars properties are much more kind to folks like me. After my five day stay MGM all I got offered was a reduced room rate at NYNY and Monte Carlo, but for the one evening I walked to PH, I got offered two nights at Harrah's, that began my exclusive relationship with CET. I now get COMPS about anytime for almost anywhere with CET with very modest play.

With the majority of play at NYNY and minimal at PH, I get better deals at PH when comparing play with free rooms.

Both are decent places. Having stayed at both places, here is my breakdown:

Caisno: Tie. Both have good energy and decent dealers. I don't think NYNY has poker, though, if that is what you are looking for

Room: NYNY is nicer, but you don't want to get stuck next to the roller coaster

Food: Another tie. Both have decent selections at different price ranges

Sportsbook: PHo. NYNY doesn;t even have a book. Just a small betting area next to their sports themed restaurant

    Location: PHo. Closer to center-strip

Entertainment: Tie. They both have adult themed shows and PHo has a parade of scantily clad dealers every night.

    Pool: They both suck

Spa: Never tried the PHo spa, but I can tell you to avoid the NYNY spa. Probably the worst one on the Strip I have ever visited

    Hope that helps!

Ok thanks for all the comments..

Called Southwest to see if we could change the booking but as we got a *deal* for NYNY we would have to pay full price for PH, so have decided to stick with current booking at NYNY which is fine..

We are happy to stay there.. it is close to what we want plus we get free tickets to Zumanity which we have seen before but love to see again..

My next question is where is the Park Avenue rooms located in NYNY, meaning which tower?? cant find any information on their maps.
