Was browsing the mlife website any came across this:

    https://www.mlife.com/booking/rewardsprogramchanges

Must've just come out because I haven't seen any chatter about here yet, or I'm just not looking hard enough. Funny how they do the comparison chart to other rewards programs :evillaugh. Looks like noir is going back to invite-only huh?

Good spot, thanks. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions about tier levels and expiry dates but will probably be a lot simpler once we have more info.

As usual, there is very little (nil?) detail for table games players. I'm sure the bigger players will be pleased to see Noir back to invite only. The limits for Express Comps seem reasonable to me.

I'm not a slot player but it seems that the new earning table shows $3 coin-in for each point, rather than the $2 required now. That's quite a drop in PointPlay and Express Comps earning, which will not be compensated by the bonus points and ECs, even for Noir. In any case, there was accelerated earning previously.

The new program is way more restrictive. Today, Platinum is $1.75 for slots and $1.50 for Noir. That's a big % cut for those player levels.

Good news for me is that I'll hit Noir for the first time prior to 10/1. Hopefully that means it will continue for a year, or are they going to re-evaluate everyone and knock people to lower levels?

I'm sure you are correct. It does say "After listening to your feedback, we are making some exciting changes to M life". I do not recall exciting changes based on customer feedback ever being detrimental to the customer in the past.

    Resort fees anyone? :evillaugh

well, getting rid of the rolling 12 month schedule makes it less confusing. although why they picked Oct 1 as the renewal date is anybody's guess.

as is the case with any revamp of a comp program, they've reduced the comps. the major change is $3 per point instead of $2 per point, which means 50% less in pointplay and TCs right off the bat. the other major change is $0.01 in ECs for each point instead of $0.02. combined with the $3 per point means you now earn only 1/3 of the ECs you earned previously. that's downright terrible.

for Noir, you do earn 1.4 points per $3, which translates to 1 point for each $2.15. compared to the $1.50 that it used to be, that's a 30% reduction, which isn't great, but is at least better than 50% for sapphire players. that's 1.4 cents ECs per $3, which compared to $0.02 per $2 is over a 50% reduction, but again better than 67% for sapphire players.

however, the note at the bottom says that at Biloxi/Detroit you're still going to earn $0.02 ECs per point. only Vegas is cutting it in half.

we'll have to find out if ECs are still 13% of theo for table players or if they've reduced that percentage as well.

the other major change is going back to invite only for Noir, which is definitely a good thing.

So if we've achieved a higher level this past Feb -- then does that expire this coming Oct 1? Since my husband will play on our account in about 4 weeks, will that matter? I liked the rolling expiration date better. Maybe I'm just incredibly tired this morning but this confuses me.

No-one knows yet. One obvious option is to reset TCs at zero on 1 October and set tier based on TCs earned October 2011 - September 2012. Or just allow players to keep whatever tier they have at 30 September.

It's still unclear how long a newly earned tier status will last, although the website states at least a year. Whether someone earning 200,000 TCs in December 2012 (starting from zero) would be Platinum to September 2013, September 2014 or some other date is not yet known.

I would highly doubt it would just expire come Oct 1st. Resetting everyone would just be a PR nightmare.

The better question is when next year does the tier expire? On the date the system things now, or Oct 1st 2013.

Interesting. I guess even they could not figure out the rolling date thing. ROFLMAO!

This still brings up some unique questions, especially those that have been over the Noir threshhold for all or most of the past 12 months.

For example: If on Sept 30, somebody is over 1m points, that means they have earned them in the past 12 months. Right? Anything older than 12 months has fallen off.

So, as of Sept, they have earned NOIR by doing 1m inside a 12 month period, under the old rules. Will they just kick them out of Noir on Oct 1, or will they at least get the 12 months under the "existing" program?

i would guess they will reset tier credits to 0 on Oct 1 and however many TCs you have as of Sept 30, that's the tier you will get until Sept 30, 2013. for Noir, no idea how they will handle it. but my guess is that as of Oct 1 it will be invite only. which means if you don't qualify for an invite, you will be reduced back to Platinum as of Oct 1.

but given how incompetent they obviously are, who knows what they'll do. it's always possible they just leave everyone that was Noir based on 1M TCs until Oct 1 2013.

So... if I'm ever going to hit Noir (since I don't see an invite in my future), then I only need 400,000 points for our 4 night Labor day trip.

It's hard to imagine what bet level is required to hit 100,000 pts/day (4 hours/day)!!

Looks like they are still screwing over the Mississippi and Detroit players. I understand they probably do this to funnel people to Vegas, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Requiring Mississippi players to play through 5 times as much play to advance a tier, and Detroit players 10 times as much really blows.

The logic baffles me. In Tunica and Biloxi, their cost of doing business is way less than Vegas. I just don't get it.

Just as I don't get why they screw around with different points for "specialty slots". If those things cost them more money (or less revenue), then change the hold on them. Way less visible and annoying to everyone. Seems pretty simple to me.

If I understand the changes, then it looks like the "revamped" MLife is giving more reasons for people to gamble either downtown or at the off-strip properties.

It's seems clear that the bean counters rule the roost at the MGM and CET properties.

I'm sure you'll still be able to get decent room offers, but paying for meals with comps will mean more out-of-pocket $$$.

The MLife announcement states "The rolling expiration date for tiers and Tier Credits will be replaced with one set expiration date per year - October 1. If you advance to a higher tier before that date, you'll enjoy those tier benefits for at least a year!"

If you will become Noir before October 1, you shall remain at that level for at least a year.

Thank you very much for sharing your analytical viewpoint with us. I fully agree with you that MLife is substantially cutting down the comps.

Thanks Shiny! I have 3 trips, total 8 nights, prior to 10/1 and need only 187,000 tier credits to hit Noir.

Are you sure about the old ratio? Accelerated earnings started at Gold the old way.

    I thought it was
    Gold - $1.75
    Platinum - $1.50
Noir - $1.25 or something like that.

Anybody got the exact numbers for coin in per slot point the old way? I'm doing a spreadsheet to illustrate the differences old vs. new and I need the exact coin in level per slot point the old way....
