I think it was Jethro Tull in1973 in Vancouver. I think Robin Trower opened for them. I think I saw Elton John the same year as well.
    Guess I'm showing my age.

Not sure what the year was, but I saw Metallica sometime after releasing Load or Reload. For being one of my favorite bands at the time I thought the concert sucked. Not nearly enough of their old stuff that I grew up listening too.

Mine was either Judas Priest (Defenders of the Faith) or Iron Maiden (Powerslave).

Both were pretty close to each other and I'm not sure which one was first.

    Year: 1970-something...
Venue: The Grand Ole Opry House, Nashville, TN (where else would this building be?)
    Artist: Elton John

This was his "Back in the USSA" tour, having just returned from touring in the former USSR. The show featured him performing solo for half the concert. Then during "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding", the curtain behind him opened to reveal a wall of percussion and one man, Ray Cooper working his magic. Yes, the rest of the show was just the two of them.

I still remember the headline from the write-up in the paper the next morning: Piano & Percussion Plenty for Elton John Concert Goers.

    Willie Nelson. I was 3.

First concert without any parents or other adults? Squeeze and Smithereens at Lake Compounce, Connecticut, 1987:peace: We were in the front row (general admission) and it was still one of my favorite concerts! The next summer, I went to my first Jimmy Buffett concert (with my uncle and his girlfriend at the time - who is now his wife of 23 years:nworthy:)
