My boyfriend and I are trying to decide between staying 5 nights in late November at either the Flamingo or Harrahs. We have never stayed at either property.

The stay is mostly comped, so the price is pretty much the same for both hotels.

At the Flamingo it would be a Fab Deluxe room. Harrahs it would be a Classic room.

We have spent hours reading reviews and both properties have positive and negative reviews.

What is most important is the overall cleanliness of the room. I understand that it is Vegas and wear and tear in rooms is normal. I can deal with worn carpet/older furnishings. We don't spend a ton of time in the room. What we are really looking for is a nice clean room to stumble back to at the end of the night.

There seem to be a lot of different room choices at Harrahs so I am not really sure what a Classic room really means. For people who have had comped stays before, which tower do you end up in? Do any of these rooms have the balconies that I see in peoples photos?

We understand that neither of these hotels are on the same level as the Cosmo or the Bellagio, but we are not paying Cosmo and Bellagio prices.

We've stayed at both several times. I would go with Flamingo just for the location alone. Easy to get out to strip, more fun vibe. Up grade to a GO room and possibly see B fountains.

We stayed at Harrah's last December in a comp room. It was the classic, was really impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the bed. My buddy stayed in a deluxe room and had the little balcony. It is really small, no chairs or anything. I stepped out on it and smoked a cigar or two, that was about it. I really enjoyed my stay at Harrah's, I would recommend. The only thing about Flamingo that really blows Harrahs away is the FLamingo's pool is way better.

Flamingo also has a better location, best intersection on the strip.

Its a tough call - one could argue that Harrah's has the best location due to it being in between Flamingo and the Wynncore and Venetian hotels. Plus being right next door to Carnival Court is always a plus for people not wanting to blow money on clubs.

If I did Flamingo - I would definitely upgrade to the GO room, so take on $20/night to the price.

Then again if I did Harrah's again, I would upgrade to the Luxury room so I have that TV in the bathroom (love that perk).

My rule of thumb is: pool season stay - pick hotel based on better pool, or off season stay - pick hotel with more convenience.

Both are a good choice and I wouldn't hesitate with either.

For now, I'd pick Flamingo due to the construction going on at Linq. I don't think there's Carnival Court now, at least during the construction. I've stayed at both. both rooms were clean. The hallways in Flamingo not so much but unless u sleep in the hall, I wouldn't worry.

Construction noise has been a bigger problem at Flamingo than Harrahs...especially FAB rooms since they tend to have more of them on the north side of the building. We wind up at one of these 2 hotels every year. It is a real tossup ...I like Harrahs casino better and the overall property is nice to me. Cross the street to Mirage, Forum Shop entrance, Casino Royale next door plus Mickey Ds. Flamingo location is better if you are heading to the most center of the strip to go to other properties, 2 seconds from middle elevator to the sidewalk. Overall I like Harrahs better but I can see others picking Flamingo for location. Almost all views from Flamingo are better than Harrahs. We have stayed at both properties 3 times, after a few times we get bored and go back to the other

The Carnival Court bar is open, its just the little junky retail deals that are gone. Who cares about those anyways??

Since they are pretty even, I would lean towards the one that would work on location. With Harrahs you walk directly across to Mirage, and next door to V/P and heir Mall.

With Flamingo, you are closer to the Ballys/Paris/PH and Bellagio area.

Overall, not really much difference. They are both next to each other separated only by IP. Only deal is avoiding the construction area if you can.

Regardless of choice just make sure your primary room request is a 'quiet' room during the construction phase. Being able to sleep will be important than any view!

Not even an issue. The "big bird" by a country mile (any country for that matter).

Due to the construction, maybe Flamingo. But any other time, I would go with Harrah's. I just think they treat you better there.

    Thanks for the replies.

I guess I was just concerned with all of the bad reviews I have read regarding the cleanliness of the rooms at the Flamingo. Unless I receive some kind of really great deal I won't be paying more to upgrade to a GO room because they want a lot for those and my current FAB rooms is comped.

Can't help you Love them both A GO room at Flamingo is a nice little treat
but we've also had some aweome rooms at Harrahs. The only downside to the
Flamingo is the smell they pump into the casino It's a vanilla smell and most of
the time it doesn't bother me but sometimes I get such a headache it makes me want to run from the place. But I do like the Margaritaville casino and I don't recall
the smell being carried down to there on our last trip. Good Luck deciding
you can't go wrong with either place

Dont scare me - I am pretty sure Carnival Court is still open, it was open during construction when I was there in May - and from the pictures I see, it looks like the construction is working around Carnival Court.

I get the feeling Harrah's wouldn't want one of their busiest bars and ONLY nightlife option to close down because of the mess.

    Flamingo

I stay at the flamingo 2-3 times a year. One thing about the Flamingo is that they geared them selves to a younger crowd. The mail pool area is 21 and over and is a day club. If that is not your speed you will not like the pool. The casino is small but I prefer that. You don't have to walk for ever to get where you need to go. The food at the flamingo is not great. I don't really eat a lot when I go to vegas so I look past all that. I get my breakfast at the pool every morning at 8:00am.

The staff is very friendly. The new GO rooms are really nice for the price. If you say at the Flamingo make sure you get the room facing the pool. The rooms are not insulated well and you will hear all the night clubs and traffic all night if you get the room with a view.

Hope this helps in your decision.
