I like playing their single zero roulette and some other games usually not crowded and drink service is pretty good.. Had some rude dealers but doesn't everywhere? Lol

went to the riv to play slots my first 3 trips out . It was ok mostly down trips though.

Got a comped buffet for signing up for the players card.

Food was edible ... after all it was a free meal. Oddly enough its one of the only buffets on the strip that served Clam Chowder (MSS too.)

the floor is full of cigarette smoke...

havent gone back since the free meal which was about 3 or 4 trips ago ?

I played blackjack there one time until early in the morning. Probably about 12+ hours straight. I mentioned I would rather stay the night than pay for a cab back to the Tropicana. The pit supervisor comped me a room with a late check out. Considering all the free drinks I had, I took it. That still always amazes me when I think back about it. It is now almost 25 years ago, but I have stopped back many times and played there because of it.

I wandered in there last summer and sat at the bar with the stage behind it, listening to some band playing some great old stuff. I put a dollar into a keno machine and the bartender said "put $5 in there and I'll comp your drink." I did, and he did. I did it two more times, got two more drinks ('ritas). Had a great time. The place is showing its age, but it's not as intense an atmosphere as the bloodsucking corporate places. Not bad at all.

Stayed there in March on a great deal ($75 for 5 nights...including the weekend). Monaco Towers have been upgraded and for the most part are ok. Minifridge/safe/fast elevators and super beds.
Coupons for various drinks/dinner/show combinations on check in.
Casino was definitely laid back, but comfortable.
Can't comment on the comps, as we are low rollers.
Drink service was fast and often. Slots let you play a bit on them, but no huge wins.
Surprisingly (with a bus pass) convenient to the rest of the strip(but we are walkers).
Best of all, right next door to the Peppermill!

Never stayed at the Riviera but did have a great meal at the R Steak and Seafood restaurant about a year ago. Did a little gambling at a video poker machine. Drink service was good and it took awhile before my money disappeared.

stayed there on my second trip to vegas and enjoyed it. the elevators let out right on the casino floor. right across from slots of fun....love it...i have yet to stay there again due to playing at CET properties and not having to pay anymore for rooms, but i would have no problem staying there again.:beer::beer:

I have never been inside, but I think at night, the Riviera and Hard Rock are the two "coolest looking" casinos in Vegas now since places like Stardust are gone. Love all the lights on that place.

Unless you are staying there, dont bother going. Sahara is closed, I hated CC, Stratosphere 's rides arent for me. It's empty up there. So, why should you get off the bus just to go to the Riviera?

It is indeed much cheaper than Bally's, MGM, Flamingo, MB, Luxor. But ifcourse downtown is even cheaper. So if on a budget, try it. However, the Imperial Palace is in center strip.

I walked over there our last trip from Encore. It was hot out and the nearest entrance was thru the food court....the place smelled horrible, like rotten produce and garbage:vomit: Not a good first impression for a strip property unless seedy is your thing.

It does look cool from the outside at night in an old time Vegas kind of way.

The casino is a lovely combination of dark grays and the lady at the Players Club desk barely spoke english and was clueless about their promotion...:rolleyes2:

I've stayed there several times, but not recently, mostly when attending things at the LVCC. No major complaints. Rooms are always decent but not opulent. The coffee shop was fairly decent. The buffet was, well, there. :) :)

My first solo trip to Las Vegas, years ago, was at the Riviera. It was right during the Rodeo Finals, and I didn't really know what to expect. Only major change was non-stop C&W music on the casino sound system and a lot of cowboy hats. :) Most of the guys were perfect gentlemen, the kind who would hold the door for you and such. :)

I stayed there in June. I was upgraded for free to the Monaco tower. Nice room with fridge and safe. Bed new and comfy. Resort fee $11 a night taxes in. Resort fee included wifi which worked well. Good morning coffee place near lobby. The Riv has 2 ABC stores inside.....good prices. There is a Walgreen nearby. Bus stop right out the front. I would stay again if I could get the updated room.
