    Hello all,

I was just e-mailed an incredible offer from the TI and I was wondering if anyone can give me thoughts, advice, etc. on the rooms, pool, staff, 20.00 trick, did it work, etc.

I did have the Rio reserved, but after this e-mail offer, I am seriously thinking of changing the reservation to the TI.

    The offer is I can get a Deluxe room for 40.47 Mon. and Tues Sept 3 & 4th and 89.97 Sept. 5 & 6th.

Petite Suite I can get for 76.47 Mon. and Tues. and 125.97 Wed. and Thurs. Does anyone have a room preferance, floor preferance etc.

And has anyone had luck with the 20.00 trick? I'm thinking of reserving the Deluxe room and hoping the 20.00 trick will get me upgraded. Question being, would a 20.00-50.00 trick get me upgraded to the Petite Suite?

I did pour over previous post but only found a couple post about the TI. And from those post it seemed people like it.

I just want to see what people are saying about it now.

    Thanks in advance,
    K-9treatbaker

I stayed at TI in April, and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I had no issues, hotel staff courteous and friendly. I've also stayed at Rio. Rio rooms are larger, and maybe a little older. Rooms at TI are nice, and a big plus is they have a safe and a fridge. That is a nice offer, I'd take it. Bear in mind though that the rates you were given may not include the $20 + tax per night resort fee. The pool is great; really small, but has great vibe. I ate at Senior Frogs twice & the coffee shop once. Service (and drinks) at Senior Frogs was excellent, can't say the same for coffee shop.

I can't offer any help with regards to upgrades, but it can't hurt to try. The worst they can say is "no". Good luck & have a great trip!

The $20 trick got me a from a basic Deluxe Room to a Deluxe Room with a top notch view of the Strip and pirate show a few years ago (the show sucks but the fireworks were exploding pretty much in front of our room, which was sweet). I was very impressed with the quality and ambiance of the room for the price I paid at the time. I'm not picky, but I do appreciate quality and luxury, so it seemed worth noting that I expected less for the price.

    Other notes:

The pool wasn't anything special and I didn't much care for the vibe at the time, being a young person looking for more of the party / high energy scene. It was also August and the water was luke warm to warm warm and anything but refreshing.

I've never seen any good pay tables in TI for anything, and I've been in there quite a bit even when not staying there.

I love their buffet, especially for the price. I actually make it a point to hit up that buffet on every trip since I stayed there.

Overall, I'd definitely stay there again for the right price, but for regular price, I'd rather stay a little more central and somewhere I could potentially have good pay tables with a better pool vibe (for what I'm looking for, which may not be what you're looking for).

I would say save your money on suite unless you got several people sharing the room. Ti is one of my fav properties and been staying there for many years. Pool is small and if u are looking for a pool party scene then stay elsewhere. Previous post is right about resort fee. That may be another 20 bucks a day but i believe it includes a buffet and maybe some drinks now so check into that. Any questions about property ask me. I know it inside out:)

For the record, the resort fee is $28. $25 + tax.

2 questions: Is the resort fee optional and does anyone think the $20 trick would work if we went through Priceline already?

To my knowledge, the resort fee is not optional and I don't think the 20.00 trick works through Priceline etc. I am almost sure you have to book with the hotel directly, to stand a chance at the 20.00 trick. I may be wrong, but if I am, will others on this board please advise.

    Thanks,

You will need to pay the resort fee in your circumstances. The $20 'trick' is not linked to the method of booking. It is all about availability, the mood of the receptionist, the phase of the moon and the colour of the socks you are wearing. Flash the $20 and make your request.

I stayed on a Priceline stay in early May, had two rooms and was not charged a resort fee (saving $230!). The younger female clerk gave us a higher floor and I tipped after we were assigned rooms. I have never handed a $20 w/ CC & License via "the trick method", but will tip for exceptional service including upgrades. I'll sometimes hold a folded $20 while speaking to the clerk if I want to discuss an upgrade. Perhaps the "subliminal message" method works.

Normally I do not care as long as my room is clean, quiet and comfortable, but I wanted a nicer room if possible for my Mom. It was a sold out weekend, so we weren't able to get a petite suite, but my Mom was happy with her room and that is all I cared about. I did this on a comped Caesars basic room, didn't get a comp upgrade but accepted a $25 per night upgrade for Augustus Tower, High Floor Fountain View (I tipped as well).

Anyway, I am glad to have saved $230 via the Priceline booking. We did not have portable internet devices - you're on vacation stay off the internet except for Live Trip Reports

The clerk stated "You're room is prepaid, there are no other amounts due". I hope you are able to do the same.

Just got back from TI. The resort fee IS optional. I was told not everyone used the services that went with the fees, so they are optional. We did purchase Internet for $18 ( business reasons). We also styled t Wynn comped. No resort fees with the comp. Internet was $14.

Resort fees for MGM properties are rampant. The only time we ever paid a resort fee was at the Trop and I paid it because it was $7/nt and included wireless internet(which was a good deal at the time). When staying at an MGM property, I just call down and talk with a supervisor and explain that I do not use any of the services that the resort fee bundles together. I am also careful to point out that I was not made aware of the resort fee when I booked the hotel. I have never had an issue with getting it removed. I'm not even paying $28 for my room next trip.lol

The website doesn't state anything about resort fees being optional. Also, when I was signing the electronic credit card screen, one of the screens stated that I am aware of and accept the resort fee. When I asked about this after the clerk told me I had no resort fee, she said I wouldn't be charged but that I had to click / accept to complete the room registration.

Perhaps the front desk clerks have discretion about waiving the fee or perhaps they haven't updated the website to reflect that the fee is optional. If it is optional, it sounds like people may get it waived if they ask/complain, but they are charging everyone else.

Optional resort fees are a win win - provide guests the services they want at a bundled price while allowing guests not interested in internet service and other amenities the opportunity to opt out.

Yes, the $20 trick definitely work at TI even when booking through Priceline. I've done it first hand (March 2011), and I got upgraded to an upper floor room with a strip view. Didn't get a suite but I didn't ask for it. Since it was my 2 daughters' first time in Vegas, we were more into the view. They loved seeing the volcano erupt every hour.

resorts fee's are never optional but some properties if your staying in a comp room or do alot of gambling they will waive it ,you have to ask a host.

about pricelineand 20$ trick could work depending on the person checkin you in but less likely becuase of priceline or any 3rd party booking

    from ti directly:

Deposit is refundable if reservations are cancelled at least 48 hours prior to arrival. Reservation must be in the name of the guest checking in who must be at least 21 years of age. Sale rates are based on availability, blackout dates apply, and are subject to change. Rates displayed online already include the discount, and are subject to change until confirmed with a deposit. Sale rates are per room, per night, based on single or double occupancy, and do not include $25.00 per night resort fee or 12% tax (subject to change). Triple and quad rates are available upon request.

Did they advise you of that at check-in or perhaps you didn't book directly with the casino.

Just interested as I have a December stay booked and would like to save a few bucks.

For the past year or so the resort fee has been optional at TI at least that has been my experience and I stayed there 3 or 4 times in the past year

Do they ask you at checkin? Or you do you request, depending on your personal choice, not to use the resort options and thus not get charged the resort fee.
