The only people more annoying than the beaters are the prayers. You know them - the people who perform mystic rituals on the screen in an effort to appease the gods and tweak the RNG. Wipe the screen left to right, make the sign of the cross over the Max Bet button, shake your voodoo beads at the screen....lose.

    Morons, all of them.

Everybody knows you have to polish the metal around the button first.

I have sat near some BEATER's. More than once I said casually... "saw a lady/guy the other night that was asked to leave for beating on a machine" Slowed them down.

I have been upset at machines when on a bad run. But sober, buzzed, or drunk, I have never had the urge to punch a machine in Vegas. There are just some crazy mf'ers in this world.

I've been known to slap the VP buttons pretty hard sometimes out of frustration, but never punched a screen.

And Ardee, I don't have voodoo beads, but I've gone through some rituals when dealt four to a royal.:wink2:
    Never seems to work.:poke:

This past week, while playing VP, this older gentlemen sitting next to me would make the sign of the cross on his chest before hitting the draw button each time he had JJ or better.

I find it is much more therapeutic to insult the machines. For example, Dorothy should stick her shoes up Glenda's :wink2:, Alice is a bitch in a dirty hole, etc. They also get more and more creative as drinks get more and more frequent.

Someone needs to tell these people that violence is not the answer

I make it a point to NEVER sit next to a button beater on either slots or vp. And, if someone comes and sits next to me and proceeds to slap at the buttons, then I will quickly cash out and move on.....unless I'm in a quad frenzy and then I might deal with it for a little while and secretly pray that the button beater runs out of money.

A month ago at Wynn, my DH and I were playing side by side at vp over by the old Blush location. A guy shows up, sticks a $20 bill in the machine two away from us and starts pounding the machine and swearing......thankfully, he hit quad 6's and cashed out. As DH pointed out.....he's never been so happy to see someone win $62.50 in his entire life! :Þ

    Now that was funny:nworthy:

My wife and I mimick the voodoo people sometimes when we have a buzz and just laugh and do all kinds of goofy stuff.... the voodoo folks don't even notice, their too busy w/ the RNG ritual:evillaugh

I hate it when a slapper comes and sits by me, there is nothing more annoying....wtf is that all about anyway?? Other than fu**ing up the keys so they stick the next time somebody else wants to play...geeezzz folks...get a grip huh?:poke:

The strangest thing I've ever seen was someone that put paper over the last three or four reels. They actually had it taped to the machine!

Everybody knows that you should have a friend place their hand over reels 4 and 5 only while you close your eyes and only peek with your non-dominant eye. Amateurs.

Yea, I have seen lots of people cover the last reel. Thinking maybe they do not want to know if they won - or lost.

    Weird.

In addition to having witness all of the "weirdness" already mentioned, I've seen people put a napkin or something over their credit count or money in the machine. Just press the buttons till they stop working I guess. I have to admit that I am the perfect video poker player. You would love playing next to me ~

My Brother-in-law carries his lucky "Godzilla" figure and places it on the machine while he plays.

Once in a while he will take the figure and make circular motions around the screen before he pushed the button.

Then he'll wave his hand over the screen and try to drop the symbols in the winning line as to predict the next spin.

All the while losing his ass.......lol!:poke:

On Thursday, Douglas Batiste, 59, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace at a casino in Louisiana. Frustrated by a losing streak, Mr. Batiste urinated on the offending slot machine

I watched a guy lick the back of a pack of cigarettes and stick it over the last reel on a 3 reeler.

Just never understood the pounders, if you're THAT frustrated go to a different machine or go home. It's supposed to be fun, and if you want to win don't play the slots, (usually where me and wife are playing, LOL). By the way we are some of the morons, we talk nice to the machines until they take the 10 or 20 we put in them.

Have not done it yet and I play a lot of machines.
Since I am there to enjoy myself I tend to leave at the slightest displeasure. So, this means I have left the machine before way before it escalates to this level.

I've punched, slapped, and slammed many machines, and that was just this past weekend.

I once broke a screen on a video poker machine at a convenience store at 4 am in the morning. It was a brand new flat screen that must have been installed wrong because I barely touched the screen. Here's how it happened. I put a $20 in and choose DWBP at $1 denom. First hand I get dealt 3 deuces and attempt to hold the 3 deuces, none of the buttons work. I go to touch them on the screen to hold them and the touchscreen doesn't work either. I look at my friend and we both go WTF! I use my 4 fingers and start touching the screen, kinda like pointing on the screen and all of the sudden the whole glass explodes/shatters in a loud noise! We can still see the cards on the screen. After the top glass is shattered the touchscreen now mysteriously works! I hold the 3 deuces and don't improve. I hit cashout, go up front and we pay for our beer and I told the lady to keep the change.

They should really make sure those screens are installed correctly before letting people play on them.

I pretty much don't play the WOF games anymore because when you get the spin button it starts making that beep-boop-beep noise & I feel compelled to count til it get to a number I like - usually 9 - invariably the person next to me says - "you have to push the spin button" which of course means I have to start counting all over again. I realize how annoying it is for the regular WOF players around me so I just don't play it.

I don't slap, pound or smash machines but I do clean them, not a germophobe but I dislike streaky or oily glass and ash-laden screens or buttons.

I don't mind the ritualistic people - we're a baseball & softball family so weird superstitions are around us all the time.

There was the old lady who use to come into a local casino alot who had a son die at an early age (car accident I think). She would take a framed picture out of her purse and set it next to her machine. Shed then order a drink for herself and one for him. Then shed sit there the whole time and talk to him like "look honey we just won $5" or "this machine isn't very lucky today" It was really, really weird, and kinda sad.
