The most underrated hotel on The Strip

Has to be New York New York.

I hadn't been in their casino in years. It is one of the nicest in Las Vegas. The high ceilings are great.

I can't say I have stayed in a room there, but I have read good things about them.

 

New York is a good call, I think Ballys is really underated as well.

I can't stand those overpriced hot dogs they sell at NYNY.

 

NYNY is a good choice. Pizza and a beer is good at $6.

 

I would say Monte Carlo. Haven't stayed there in a few years but the hotel was a good value for the money with a small but decent pool and it had a nice pub and food court. Like said though it has been a few years for us.

 

I'm not sure if I would call these places the MOST underrated but I do think they get a little less love than they deserve:

1) Aria: It looks awesome, and I've always had good service there. And the in-room tech is just tech porn. Sage and Serrano are great restaurants too. Sure, the opening was a disaster but now they're running greatly.

2) MGM Grand: The casino is great value for money (S17 blackjack at sub-green-chip!), and they have some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas. Yet people seem to think of it as bland and generic.

 

I would go with Tropicana for a purely value point of view, I must admit like the poster before Aria's in room tech is just awesome, and I love their poker room too!

I like NYNY; the common areas have a nice design, but the rooms there have never wowed me.

My current vote for underrated is Vdara, with its combination of room quality, prices, and center strip location.

TI is definately a great choice if you want to be near Venetian, Wynn, etc, but not pay Venetian/Wynncore prices.

 

Circus circus! The rooms look really sweet now for the price. Plus adventuredome come on.

My favorite too. Hotel32 is awesome and I like the eateries and pool. Craps dealers are always nice.

 

Excellent choice of words. Especially as applied to the multi-position bidet on the toilet in the Sky Suites

 

I would say quite the opposite. I think Ballys is really overrated. It desperately needs a complete renovation at least. Ok, their location is great but can't really think of anything else that's great about it.

Disagree with you both. Bally's is as advertised. I don't think it's underrated and it does need TLC. It's as middle of the road and low key as people think it is. But I think what is underrated is what it's like to stay in a hotel without a lot of tourists wandering through and without a booming club creating a ton of noise.

As for Monte Carlo, I agree almost. The way it was when it opened was much better than when MGM started trying to change it. I don't think a lot of the things they have done make sense and since it had such a subtle theme, I don't know why they can't work with it. How hard is it to theme around generic European elegance? Big Belly Buffet! Seriously?

Obviously this is all based on our own personal scales, but you hit a good point on Bally's. It was nice to stay somewhere not so touristy, but still on the strip. I also stayed on the Diamond floor, north tower, so in all fairness I have never been in the south tower that is the root of most complaints.
