Hi guys im nick, have been anonymously looking through threads for tips and advice but thought the best idea would be just sign up and get replies.

Im travelling to Vegas from London for 6 days in August and really want to use our time wisely when we are there. Its a 21st birthday trip for one of the lads going and we really want to make the trip awesome. Flights and Hotel is booked we are just looking into what to do when we are there.

Any advice on cheap/best places to eat?
    Good shows?
    Places to avoid?
    Must visit places??

any advice would be much appreciated cheers.

    Nick

Hey Nick, a wee bit more info on what yous are looking to do would help with your responses. Since its only gonna be 6 days as you say yous will want to make sure you make good use of your time. Jet-lag will just need to wait til your get home! lol
Cheap eats are a plenty so dont worry bout that, which hotel are yous staying im guessing its the strip so you'll have plenty options for reasonable food.
Shows? You looking for performance?, comedy?, music?
Avoid venturing north strip late at night especially if yous are drunk as it can be a bit dodgy towards The STRAT etc, avoid the nightclub pass guys/tour guys etc as theyre all a con!
Must visit? Again its all subjective but i would recommend hoover dam/canyon trip if yous can fit that in, gun store, if one of yous are willing to drive hiring a rental and heading out to the many sites could be an option, although i would never drive in Vegas but thats just me.

Above all else enjoy! It truly is the greatest place on Earth!!!

Welcome! Not sure where you are staying, but the Mirage has a few options for cheap/good eats (Burger Bar, Carnegie Deli, BB Kings) and I know there are plenty more. The only 2 show's I've seen in Vegas were the Lion King (Mandalay Bay) and Garth Brooks (Wynn) and both were excellent. My mom raved about Love (she's a big Beatles fan). Obviously the strip is a must see, I'd try to make it into many of the resorts to see what each is like. If you get the chance, you make take a cab to downtown Vegas to see where it all started. Enjoy!!

Hi! There is a TON to do and just depends what you guys feel like doing for the day/night. Shows are fun, and since it is all guys maybe Peep Show (with Holly Madison, you know Hugh Heffners ex-girlfriend) if you want a Vegas type show w/ good looking women...or you might just prefer the gentlemen clubs? :wink2:

We always have a good time at Carnival Court at Harrah's, fun bar w/ dancing, bands, DJs, it's outside which is great at night and the cover I believe is only $10 after 10pm so if you get there before you get a wrist band and can come and go as you please throughout the night, they have bartenders do fun tricks while making drinks, etc.

If you do want to go to clubs I do know with a lot of clubs it is one guy to each girl ratio to get in..if it is just 6 guys - well you should find a group of girls to help get you in the club or it will be harder to get in and then there is cover for the guys and expensive drinks to buy. Maybe if you want to get a bottle service at a club since there are 6 of you look at jackcollins, com it's a great site about nightlife and who to contact to make reservations for the clubs.

Downtown "old" Vegas is always fun, especially if you have never been to Vegas before.

Don't be fooled when walking around the strip thinking the next casino you really want to go to is just a block a way...those are some loooong blocks:nono:

But in the end just have F-U-N...a great experience that will leave you wanting more:thumbsup::beer:

Hi megabyte, welcome to the board.

I personally think that if you just look at all the forums here you will get more info than you can process. Maybe try posting your questions in the specific forum to get more answers specific to your questions.

My advice, drink plenty of water, August is Hot. Wear comfy shoes if you plan to walk a lot, which you will probably do.

Good luck and have a great trip!

My advice is take plenty of lipbalm and lotion - it is so unbelievably dry, and you will guzzle water. Be sure to have lots of $1s for tips and check out some tipping threads for an idea of how much/whom.

Have an awesome time! O to be young and in Vegas!

    Welcome to the fold!
The good news is that whatever you are looking for in LV.....is there! The bad news is that you will get lots of advice but since we all have different likes and dislikes, it may be relevant or not. At least, it will be a start. Reading some of the posts here as well as the trip reports, there are many insights since you may identify with the writer and thus places that they like or don't may seem more relevant. I suggest getting a book like "The Unofficial Guide To Las Vegas" is a great reference. It has maps, lists, prices etc. It is good for making lists of things you may want to see and you can plan to explore things in the same location or close to each other in order to get more done in less time; it beats chasing from one end of the strip to the other. Drink plenty of water and keep a bottle on hand. And even if you avoid walking anywhere like the plague, you will walk more in LV than anywhere on earth, and everything is concrete so bring the most comfortable pair of shoes that you own.

Organizing your trip, listing what you want to see and do, then making lists, grouping will enable you to save time, money and other resources, see and do more and have a great time. Best of luck to you!

    Vegas info

I agree with Jimbo, get a good guide book, I like Frommer's Guide to Vegas and pick and choose from a list of things to do.

I definitely would NOT drive in Vegas, coming from the UK. Traffic can be awful along the strip and with being on the opposite side of the street, driving, I would think it would be nerve racking.

For me, Fremont Street experience is a must see. That is downtown Vegas.
The fountains at Bellagio and the Pirate show outside or TI should be on a list.
Downtown (Fremont St.) has a zip line. Might be fun

This is just the tip of the iceberg on things to see and do. Give us more of what is important and all of us here can provide specific items we like.

and yes, wear very comfy shoes. Even though hotels look close, they are not.

Have a fun trip. Water and sunblock would be on my list, no matter what your age.

Thanks guys all so helpful, i think i will invest in a book and just sit at work and read it.

The shoes seem to be a familiar theme so may invest in some new comfy ones before i leave.
We are looking at booking the helicopter trip to the Canyon/Hoover?? can anyone recommend any good agents? companies? to go with.

Is it cheaper booking online before we go?

    many thanks again

As a fellow Brit I also recommend The Gun Store (other similar stores are also available) as that's something that you can't do back home.
