Forgive me if this has been asked plenty of times but I am going to Vegas solo in a couple of weeks, and I have been to Vegas plenty of times, just not solo. I thought I would see if there are any suggestions on the strip of where I could go enjoy a drink in the evenings, where I wouldn’t feel out of sorts as it would be nice to enjoy a drink in the evenings and enjoy people watching or enjoy a great view of the strip (and as a female – safe to go to). The places I have been to wouldn’t be so great for that. I was thinking of Mix since I have never been there, but I didn’t know if that is a good choice. If you have any suggestions, just fire away! Thank you!

AMK, I've been to Vegas a few times as a solo female traveler so here are some suggestions:

-Mix is a good spot -- great views. I'd also recommend Mandarin Bar (not on as high of a floor but great views and great drinks).
-Chandelier Bar -- been before, not by myself, but I'd imagine it'd be great people watching.
-Sage -- you mentioned just drinks but I'd recommend dinner there too. I usually eat at the bar, the bartenders are friendly and the drinks are great. Not so much on the people-watching part.

Those are all kinda the same price range/atmospheres. I've been to La Scena alone (now its a different bar--Bourbon Room maybe?) and enjoyed listening to the cover bands. Also, after meeting some guys at a craps table, went to Steel Panther at Mandalay Bay and had a fantastic time.

I agree with Mix and Chandelier. Chandelier you just walk up, so you wouldn't feel totally awkward.

When I go on a business trip, I'll often try to arrange things where I go a day early and just relax solo in the evening. I try to get one of the hotels center Strip, such as Bally's or Flamingo. I'll just kinda casino-hop and take in the experience. I'll often stop for a while in the various casino lounges if they have a band.

I'm really too old for the current club scene, and the extremely loud house music is about as appealing to me as getting a tooth drilled without novocaine! A loud rock band, however, I can REALLY enjoy!

I've been to the Chandelier, but not alone. Very nice atmosphere and very good drinks. I have been to the casino lounges at Paris (band usually Fri and Sat, deejay otherwise), Planet Ho (band off and on), and Bally's (band most nights, usually Motown type) solo and never felt out of place.

One thing I enjoy doing for maybe 1/2 hour or so is to get a beer at Margaritaville and kind of "ride the rail" outside and people watch. There's often a band at Margaritaville as well. O'Shea's used to have a band in kind of a cubby hole up front, but that's kinda moot. Bill's sometimes has a band, but last couple times I've been there it's been karaoke.

I was kind of apprehensive my first time solo in LV, but I've never not enjoyed an evening or two totally solo.

Chandelier Bar is a good place to check out, a definite must see if you haven't seen it before. Good people watching there. Mandarin Bar on the 23rd floor of Mandarin Oriental is awesome for a good view, not so much people watching.

Like yourself, I am going to have a night out in Vegas alone and am wondering if I should attempt to go out to a nightclub by myself. (I will be with my husband for a few days and have one night alone before my friends arrive in Vegas.) I have this fear of looking like a hooker or something showing up to a club alone. LOL! Has anyone ever done this?

The views at the Mandarin Bar are some of the best in Vegas. If you want a good people watching bar, try the Petrossian Bar at Bellagio.

I have struck up more conversations just sitting and having drinks at the main bar at Paris than anywhere else. It's the one near registration. A lot days have of 2 for $14 martini specials. They mix up strong and good drinks. Partial to their bloody Mary's too. Just ask for extra spicy.

Other than that, I enjoy the dueling pianos at Harrahs. Never feel out of place solo their either.

Hey -- as a big fan of Mix, I disagree with the above. I think it would a terrible spot to go solo. Seriously. I have stayed at MB at least 20 times and was solo at least half. I'd suggest Lilly (formerly Caramel) at B or even Duece Lounge at Aria late night. I would NOT do Mix solo. Sorry to the folks who recommeded otherwise. But, honestly, Eye Candy in MB is not a bad solo spot for a drink and there are always other singles there.

    MIX or eyecandy is good

    LUxor's many bars are nice

    Chandelier bar is excellent

I have gone to regular nightclubs solo at RIo and Palms particularly. I was either given blatantly weird looks like "really?wth?" especially when I entered the quick VIP line single OR people wanted to chat me up and let me join their crew. I liked pretty much keeping to myself mostly or having a small chat, and you only get weird looks at the entrance...otherwise no one knows or concerns themselves.
