I love the sign that says "Due to the season the Las Vegas Club rooms are temporarily closed". What "season" would that be? Tourist season???

That area in image #6 looks familiar. I was downtown in January and needed to make an important phone call, and I happened to be near Vegas Club at the time. I decided to walk around and I stumbled upon that area. It was a nice, quiet place to make a call with great cell phone reception.

It has gotten even worse from a few weeks ago when I was there. At least then the machines back by the unworking escalator were on.

It's just sad what the LVC and Plaza do, I walked in their last month WANTING to gamble, all I wanted was the same games/rules/payouts as I was playing elsewhere downtown...and you cant get it. So I walked right back out...and they no doubt wonder why they're losing money and can't figure out how to change it.

They are a casino, not a hotel, without the casino there is no hotel, improve the gambling and you will improve everything. Instead they put new furniture in the plaza, new carpeting on the floor, and a topless salon, and wait for the dumb tourists to make them rich, good luck!

Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like to me, they are flat out going to close. And why would they even consider a resort fee? Geesh!!!

It is bizarre how that area has never been any good. They always try new things but nothing seems to take. i blame it more on the main casino then anything else. Once people see how dull it is thery dont want to walk all the way to the back.

Thanks for the pics Sam. Kind of depressing pictures. I hope they can get this property turned around.

Last month I walked through the back area where there are a few machines and that looked so f'n depressing.

My friend asked me why I would drag him through there and I just laughed. :evillaugh

They consider a resort fee because they see people at other hotels reaching into their pockets more than willing to pay this stupid fee.

As long as the full-pay joker poker is still there, I'll venture into the Vegas Club. It's one of the few good plays left.

Once those old machines with their purple screens and buckets of quarters disappear, there will be no reason to set foot in that dirty dump.

Not totally true. When the sportsbook was back in that location, there was a fair amount of business in that area. Since they closed that, it's just a dead zone back there no matter what they try.

Actually I thought that they were doing okay (the hotel part) when they had cheap room rates. I saw people on my floor and in the elevator in january when I stayed there (south tower).

I was supposed to stay in the north tower with a second back to back reservation but was moved over to the Plaza. Unfortunately I had to check out of my room at the lvc and had to wait a few hours before I could check into the Plaza. Way to go Plaza/lvc, really want to make it easy for guests. btw, the carpet in the lvc south tower room was the same as the one at the plaza rooms.

I think they did it to themselves. They had a 2nd floor restaurant (upper deck) that had poor and slow service. They had a night club in the old sportsbook area but closed that to house the bingo area from the Plaza while they were renovating and they never reopened the club after that so that back area was stagnant.

They supposedly are renovating the rooms that should have done many years ago, need to upgrade the south tower elevators that should have been upgraded years ago. They just didn't put a lot of money into the place and let it go.

Even though they supposedly claimed to have the best vp returns (a year or two ago) they still weren't able to bring customers in to play. Their craps tables were a joke, closing half off when it was slow to save on workers pay. One person took care of the whole table and had too many rules (wouldn't even count rolls if the shooter didn't reach the other end of the table) and hassling the customers. No way to treat customers if you want them to play there.

I'm ticked because I liked the low nightly rates there but with the Plaza starting to be "upscale" and charging resort fees I would assume they would do the same thing to the lvc. :Þ The lvc's claim to fame is like the el cortez, great room rates for low rollers like us. If they try to "upscale" the place it will be a fiasco, no way they can do a lot to make the place a "resort" like they are trying to do with the Plaza. They will also get more rumblings if they try to charge a "resort fee". If people think the Plaza isn't really a resort, even more don't think that the lvc can be turned into a "resort" also.

I wonder how that lv jerkys store is doing on the ground floor. I think they thought they were getting a good deal moving out of the 2nd floor plaza but now with no foot traffic only people who know about the store will be visiting there.

I've been told many times by many people that the south tower elevators are so old that it takes forever to get parts for them. Duh, then just replace the damn things with efficient ones that actually work! I've had to be moved to the north tower because my claustrophobia kicked in from not being able to get off my floor. When I finally did, I went straight to the front desk and demanded to be moved, which they did without argument.

Yes, It is a real shame what they have done to the LVC. Walked through the back a couple of times this week while going to the Cal and MSS. It is depressing to see nothing going on or happening in the back half of the casino. I also remember the sports book and the great restaurant that was in the LVC, let's hope they are renovating and not closing the back.

Vegas Club came up last night as the lowest price on hotels.com for a weekend night I needed in Sept. There were only a few hours left to the sale price, so I booked it. Eager to see if they move me over to Plaza and then sock me with an additional ten bucks to stay there.

As of this morning, the sale price was over but it was still listed as available, second weekend in September.

Just a warning Sam, they may move you over to the plaza if the lvc isn't ready for your stay. I don't know what their policy if they move you over to the plaza is and whether they will charge you a resort fee if you do move. I don't see how they can charge you the fee when you paid for the lvc but with these guys anything is possible.

At least you have an easy time cancelling from hotels.com if you find something better. I'm looking for rooms in october but I didn't see lvc, guess it was a one day thing since I did a search yesterday (hawaiian air dropped their west coast fares yesterday).
