    Hi All -

With the great sale launched yesterday by Harrah's in Vegas, I'm going to make a quick August trip.

With prices very similar at Flamingo, Harrah's and Bally's, which hotel is the best?

Imperial Palace is also cheap, but I've heard horrible things about the IP.

    Thoughts?

ive stayed at both ballys and harrahs this last trip. id pick ballys based on location. i had nice rooms at both and cant really complain about the rooms. got free upgrades at both places with out the 20 dollar trick. at ballys to south tower upgraded room, and at harrahs to the mardi gras tower 4th floor.

You didn't mention any specific criteria or special concerns you have in selecting a hotel.

I have stayed at all 3 hotels. Based on my experience, I would choose Bally's 1st with the Flamingo 2nd and Harrah's last. That is based mainly on the size and overall condition of the rooms and the pool area. The Flamingo pool may be nicer than Bally's but it tends to quickly get overcrowded and then there is a scarcity of loungers. I've never had that problem at Bally's pool.

I have stayed at all 3 within the last year. Here is a quick run down.

Harrah's Great room, really clean. Dining options limited and seemed like we were always walking to eat and visit other properties. Very friendly staff. Pool is by far worst of the three.

Ballys Best location, plenty of dining options in close proximity. Connected to Paris (two resorts in one). Nice relaxing pool, not a party pool, but a nice fun environment. Room was large and clean.

Flamingo Great place to get drunk and swim. The pool is a party pool with all that comes along with that, good and bad. Rooms are decent, property is run down in locations and much newer in others.

I would stay at Bally's unless I wanted a party pool scene, then its Flamingo.

    Have stayed at all

Flamingo once in a GO room; had some gross hallway cleanliness issues that haven't led us back (even DH was grossed out...took days to clean...this was 2 years ago & I realize it could be situational). Definitely has the best pool.

We stay at Ballys & Harrahs more than any other...not a big difference to us. Ballys has bigger rooms; north tower room decor along the same lines as Harrahs rooms. Ballys has slightly more central location.

Right now the LINQ project construction is right between Harrahs & Flamingo. For that reason alone I would recommend Ballys.

One thing, the south tower has large clean rooms w/ great strip views, but the furnishings are VERY dated. They will nearly always comp upgrade you to north tower if there is availability--without even asking. But it is a small gamble.

I chose Bally's because of the LINQ project construction.

    Great topic.

I was looking to stay at Bellagio or CP. Ballys is comping me 3 nights. So three nights free in a central location vs over $450-600 total for Bellagio or CP.

I wanted to stay at the Flamingo but I can't find a decent review on it here. Plus with the new construction going on, I think I want to be further away from it.

    I didn't like Paris.

    Looks like Ballys it is!

I think I need to move over to Bally's based on the feedback I've seen! :)

I have stayed at all 3. Ballys would be my last choice. I did not enjoy my stay there. I was in a south tower room with fountain view, it was very dated. I thought the food options sucked other than a quick walk to Paris buffet for breakfast. the casino felt like everyone was mid-root canal. Location wise, its an ez walk to Bellagio, but other than that, I think the harrahs location is better.

Personally, I'd pick Harrahs. I think they have a very fun casino. Lots of action, ppl always seem to enjoy themselves, its lively. The monorail access is probably the easiest on the strip. Food options are OK, and is close to Mirage which has great food options and IP for hash house a go-go. Location, like I said, Mirage is quick walk, Venetian is close...Caesars/Flamingo/Wynn all fairly close. And The Piano Bar/Carnival Court are 2 of my fav drinkin spots.

Flamingo is cool too, pool is nice, Margaritaville is a good food spot.
