Table Games $1000 Question

My buddies and I have been talking about this for our next trip. If you had any extra grand to spend and could either spend it at a $100 double deck blackjack game, $100 single zero roulette game, $5 or $10 slots what would you pick?

We all know the $1000 is a stupid low amount for the tables, so no need to mention that.

Given these parameters, what's your choice?

 

You mentioned slots, so I would find a good paytable for video poker and play $5 VP, meaning $25 per hand. But only with a good paytable and I would play DDB. Bigger potential payoff.

 

$1000 isn't nearly enough to play $100 table games. I'd give the $5 slots a spin and maybe hit a quick jackpot.

 

$5 - 3 Reel WOF
$1 & $5 - Double 7's
Maybe a few spins on a $25 Slot

 

What is the goal with the extra grand? What is it that makes it "extra" vs a regular gambling bankroll?

 

If he's only going to play one hand/spin to double it, try BJ, roulette second, if he's going to "play it" go with the slots - you could win $5k wheras that prob wont happen at either BJ or roulette.

 

If it's a one shot deal the single zero roulette is the best option (in my opinion).

If you put it all on the line in BJ and you get a 10 or 11 and the dealer shows a 5 is he gonna pull out an extra grand to double? If the answer is no roulette gives him the best option.

I am not sure if OP meant it to be a one shot deal. I would take a stab at blackjack. You could play $50 a hand to $100 a hand, and if on a hot streak, that thousand could lead to $5000 or $10,000 easily. The trick is to walk away when you are up.

roulette is a bit tougher because you hope and pray that it lands on your number, or on black/red.

 

Or even all ten at once! I wish I had that kind of guts.

 

Sorry I wasn't clear...it's 10 hands of $100 blackjack, or 10 spins of $100 roulette. Play till you lose or play till you've won enough to think you should bail.

By extra I mean I save an extra grand and bring it with me to do this specifically.

It's all theoretical at this point, we're talking about stuff like this because we're bored waiting for our trip to roll around in October.

Hey, pick something that will last more than a few minutes at least. Have a little bit of fun.

Slots can have the biggest hits, and biggest losses. And, playing at those levels could result in a W-2g. Nice to win, but somebody has some tax issues to deal with.

Roulette is good group fun.

As to playing V/P with a bunch of guys, all drinking I guess. Optimum play might say to hold on a pair, but a group would say - screw it - go for the Royal. Or other things like that. Just sayin.

I wouldn't do roulette or BJ...I'd go with baccarat. Hopefully you'll hit a nice run and make some good money. Plenty of $100 tables around town.

 

I was thinking double your money and start thinking of bailing. If you're really hot at a table play that by ear.

 

Your easiest way of doubling your money is to put all $1000 on the player at Baccarat, one bet. Then bail! Any other game or machine which would require multiple bets will reduce your chance of doubling up.

But again, it depends upon what your goals are. If you want to play a lot, play $5 a hand at roulette or craps or BJ.

 

Plain and simple, in any neg expectation game, best chance at doubling is one even money bet preferable at lowest house edge (1 roll pass line?) playing 10 hands puts more money in play increasing expected loss.

Your variance is higher ( double or nothing) but if that's the plan do it in one shot.

And actually you misstated the reason a bit. If he plays 10 $100 hands his expected loss is the same. The reason that one hand is better is because he will continue until he doubles or is broke, and that will usually take more than 10 $100 hands.

Still, if it is blackjack we are talking about, 1 $1000 hand would likely not be the ideal strategy anyway, because to achieve the theoretical expected loss, you need to be able to split/double. So 1 hand with no money to split/double would have more expected loss than 10 hands where that ability is mostly there.

 

Not sure if I would do Craps or Slots.

 

I know you posted that you would play roulette, but you did not say whether or not you were going to play inside or outside because if you are only playing outside, yes, you will get 10 spins at $100 - and you could get lucky and win all 10 but that only doubles your money.

Something to consider - $100 single 0 roulette depends on what casino you play at. If you go to Aria, or MGM or something you can get single 0 for $25 - $50 min and $5 chips so you could cover 20 numbers with $5. Other casino's like bellagio or Caesars are $100 min with $25 chips so you can cover 4 numbers with $25 each.

What I would do, if you are prepared to blow it fast or want to win substantially more is to go to a craps table and place bet $25 on 4,5,6,8. When a number hits, take the profit and leave the original bet, then press them until you win 2 or lose on 7. Next do the same at $50 ... $75... then $100. You should get lots of action and probably come out ahead unless you get 5 guys point 7, then you still get 10 tosses.
