So, I get an email from Bally's this morning offering me an upgrade to a North Tower deluxe room for $10/nite extra. Total cost to upgrade would be $50. Are the North Tower rooms worth the extra money over the South Tower rooms, or should I take my chances at check-in and try for an upgrade then? We are checking in on Friday if that makes a difference.

    Thanks,
    Tim:peace:

From what I have seen its worth the extra $10. I got one with a $20 tip at check in last trip and it was money well spent. We had a nice view and a huge room that was clean and well kept.

    They are much nicer

But often they will give you a comped upgrade at checkin if there are rooms. Personally I would NOT pay the extra, but inquire at checkin (perhaps using the $20 trick)...if they say no, mention the offer & I would guess they would honor it at checkin.

Book it and don't chance it. Even if you got it with the tip you're only down $30. The north tower is 1000% worth it:wave:

I guess we have been lucky when staying at Bally's...our rooms in the South tower were always good...new carpet, new bedding, etc - plus a half view of the B fountains....once they forced us "diamond" cardholders to go to the North tower and was soooo disappointed. Room was just the same as in the South tower but had no view. It's all just personal preference... :)

i have no problem with the south tower, plus they have better views. bally's always sends me that $10 upgrade email, and i never act on it. i just rather spend my $50 somewhere else (we stayed there a couple of weeks ago for 5 nights). i have never stayed in north tower, so i honestly can't compare and tell you the extra $10 a night is worth it. all i know if i don't mind south tower.

I would save the $50. I've read a lot where they automatically upgrade you to North tower (guess it would depend on how busy the city is when you go) without you even having to ask. If they don't then try the $20 tip. THEN if all else fails either bring a printout of the email or have it ready to show on your phone and try to have them honor it at the desk. I seriously doubt it'd get to that point though. $30/$50 could be used better on the tables :)

    Friday night?

I would take the offer if you check in late on Friday.
Since Harrahs to Flamingo is under attack from construction
more people are staying at Bally's and Paris. If you come to
town early, do the 20 trick. Diamond or platinum would help!

South tower looks closer to the strip too, is the walk to get outside any different?

    South Tower is marginally closer...maybe

We used to request S. Tower thinking it was closer...but if it is, it isn't much. S.Tower you walk through the casino to get to the elevators; N. Tower, mostly you walk in front of the checkin area...just a few feet of casino.
We never take the walkways at Ballys; going north, we cross Flamingo at the light just east of Bills; going south we go out the front door, turn left & follow the sidewalk near the parking garage. East, you do have to take the walkway over LVBlvd.

This is a gamble situation. I would wait til check in and see what the cost is then. If you are Diamond, they are going to upgrade you for free.

My friend used the 5 night bulk offer for $200, stayed 2 nights over last weekend and got upgraded without a tip to a Diamond Level Suite in the South Tower.

my only problem with the South tower is Club Chateau. Make sure you are not facing the eifel tower. During the summer, the club has an outdoor patio and you can hear the music in some of the south tower rooms. On a 5 night stay I would just do the $20 trick, well worth the extra $4 a day.

No, that's an upgrade. Last time I stayed at Bally's, I tried to get a North Tower room, but couldn't. My South tower room wasn't ready - she said I could upgrade to an available South tower for $20 a night. I took it. That was the room you describe.
