I am pretty bad at concentrating my play so, up to this point, I've stayed Gold with CET Total Rewards. That is, until now. I finally achieved Platinum and, taking into consideration a couple more pending trips in the fall, I may actually have a decent shot at Diamond if I stick to the CET properties for most of my slot play and some of my time on VP.

I don't anticipate that I will be able to earn Diamond prior to November. From reading a couple of VMB threads related to tier expiration, I get the impression that, for someone in my position, its a good idea to try to earn Diamond toward the end of the year so that it is valid for the duration of the next calendar year plus three months (ie., 03/14).

So, I guess my question is, based on experience, if I earn Diamond in November, will it expire 03/13 or 03/14? I've poured over the TR site and can't seem to find the answer to this question.

No matter when you earn it in 2012 it will be good until 3/2014. Whatever you earn is always good for the remainder of current year the next year AMD then expires in march the year after. When you first get your card it will show it expires in march of 2013 then in 2013 they will send you a new card that expires in 2014.

Doesn't matter when in the year you earn it. Good following full year plus 3 mos to end of March.

Thanks all for the replies! The date on my Platinum card is part of what threw me for a loop.

On a somewhat unrelated note, as soon as I got my card, I wanted to hit the Paris buffet just so I could go to the short line. Only problem, I wasn't that hungry. Oh well, next time!

Not sure where you read that, but it does not matter when you reach it, as long as you reach it by the stroke of midnight on Dec 31st. Good for the remainder of the current year and all of the next, plus 3 months.

Does Paris have a lot of Platinum lines? Buffet? Front Desk? Valet? Would be interested in your experience as a Platinum TR Player in Vegas. In Atlantic City the Platinum card doesnt have a lot of benefits since there are so many diamond and seven stars there.

Basically gives you nothing in AC at all. St. Louis either. LOTS better in Vegas!

In Paris there is Platinum check-in & check-out line.
Quicker seating at some restaurants if they know you are Platinum (have to ask - but I had it at the Italian place across from buffet for sure.) - definitely at Cafe St. Louis.

Flamingo - check-in & out is in same room as Diamond. Quicker seating at Margaritaville for me last time (not as quick as Diamond - but they did move me up on the list).

Valet isn't really any quicker for Platinum although one time Paris was full except for guests & Platinum & above. However, I have also seen it guests & Diamond & above - so just depends on how busy. However I have never had a long wait at Paris - don't even as me about NYNY!!!

Also, at many of the shops you get a discount for being Platinum - such as the gift shop right by the elevators at Paris. I think that one is 10% gold, 15% Plat???

There are also some shops in Miracle Mile Mall http://www.miraclemileshopslv.com/totalrewards.php such as GAP that offer discounts to any CET cardmembers.

The quicker lines are very valuable to me as a diabetic as sometimes I sit at the machine too long and really have to get food in a hurry!!!

So if you reach it in the first week of January, you get to keep that level for 26+ months? The rest of the current calendar year, the following calendar year, PLUS the first three months of the year after that?

Yes, but remember your tier points reset on January 1st so it could be rather difficult to earn all 11,000 points the first week of January.

This is a scenario where Diamond in a Day might be a decent plan. Hit it hard one day the first week of January and you're all set. Course offers will be crap if you don't maintain a reasonable ADT over time.

I don't know, I think about shooting for DIAD every so often but I'm just not really that committed. I suppose it might be worth if timed this way though.

DIAD isn't good for the following year, like standard Diamond, it expires at the end of the calendar year. So good if you hit it in January, not so good in December, plus from promotional materials I've read, you need to be gold for DIAD, which is bad for platinum players.

It might not even be difficult... just depends at what level somebody plays.

If you were a penny alot player that'd be pretty difficult... but, there are a few nickle slots and 25 cent video poker in my local casino's high limit so I've gone in there lots and have seen people playing video slots for as much as $120-160 per spin. In their case getting enough points for regular diamond would more be about an hours worth of play.

Platinum players can certainly participate in DIAD, I'm living proof. I did DIAD as a long time platinum member earlier this year during a drunken blackjack binge at Margaritaville. It is not automatic, but I called the TR 800 number when I got home from the trip to learn about the program, and to see if I qualified. The lady immediately switched my account to diamond status. I'm currently around 9K tier credits, and have a trip planned in August so I don't think I'll have any issues getting to the 11k usually needed for diamond. If something goes wrong though, I'll report back as I'm not sure how long the status would actually last...

I too just did D in a D at the Paris in june. Started off as gold just shy of Plat. and DW and I using the same card hit a hot streak we did 1500 points in just a few hours and when i went up to the desk to check on points got to talking to the rep and he told me 1500 more by 5 am and we would have the diamond in a day. We had it done by 1 am, ( took a break to see the Jersey Boys ) The only bad part was the desk was closed at 1 am when we finished and being a worrier I went to the host in the HL room to insure I would get it. He not only assured me I would get it in the morning but comped me the callis suite for another night. In the morning I got my Diamond cards, and yes was told they were only good till end of the year, but was also told the date on them would be march 2013, sort of a grey area he said.

    This is obvious but..

Dont gamble over your head just to get Diamond status,I've been in the Diamond Lounge and 7 Star Lounge also, they aint worth what you have to play, and hopefully not lose to get them.
Call me an old fart if you want ,but that's the way I feel.
