I found several different sites that beat MLife hotels homepage pricing. Do they still match lower rates if you contact the hotel direct? I'm not THAT much of a tightwad but some that I have found are as much as $100 for 2 nights and I would MUCH rather book direct with the hotel. Thank you all.

Do Las Vegas hotels match rates???? I thought that was mainly retail that does this? Very interesting question, if you call any of the hotels and ask, please let us know.

If you call and ask for the match and the hotel can verify the lower rate you find, they'll typically happily match the price. You can't find out without calling the hotel, though.

Just called Mandalay Bay reservations and they told me they no longer have a best rate guarantee. Will check it out more and see what I find.

Someone on another board suggested a poster call Tropicana and ask them to match the much lower rates of Excalibur and Luxor.

I did an Ask.com for MB Best rate guarantee and it did come up with a form that you fill out AFTER you make a res. with them. Well the rate I got on i4vegas and vegasview were both $100 cheaper for a 2 nt reservation so I am going to try filling out the form and Email the info to them. Will see what happens but I am hesitant to book with them and then find out they won't match because of a "clause".

They have changed the URL they used, but I found the new one:
You do NOT have to book the rate you find on another website, but DO have to supply them with the info so they can find it.

Yep! We've done it. Last year we booked Vdara on a special for Xmas, but we booked pretty early, and I kept getting emails with better rates, so we called twice and they changed it for us, no problem. But yes, you need to have the promo code to prove you are eligible for the lower rate.

Or if you book something refundable, I just cancel and book the other.. either way. Not sure they would match something off like Expedia or whatever..

Here is the response I received from MB (cut and pasted):

Thank you for your interest in Mandalay Bay and THEhotel Resort and Casino.
Unfortunately, we do not match rates and we require you to have a current reservation booked with us.Please see our website under the Best Rate Guarantee section on How to Submit a Claim.

    Thank You,

    Name deleted

That's a bummer as we were hoping to try MB out. Oh well, guess I'll have to see if Vegas has any other hotels. LOL

They don't match rates, but they want you to submit a claim on their best rate guarantee?

Hell, just book a room (make sure it is a refundable offer) on their website, then submit a claim. If they don't honor their own guarantee, you can cancel with no penalty. But they SHOULD honor lower rates if you file a valid claim.

Just did this with Cosmopolitan. They are part of the Marriott network, so if you book with Marriott and find a lower rate, they will match and give an extra 25% off of the lower rate. Booked a wraparound suite for $1800 for 3 nights, submitted a claim, new price $800 for all 3 nights.

It sounds like Mandalay Bay wants you to jump through so many hoops to file a rate guarantee claim that most people will be discouraged from doing so. By their rules you have only 24 hours after you make a reservation to file the claim? That's absurd.
