Imperial Palace....

Looking for the scoop on Imperial Palace. This is one place I could not seem to find much information on - their website is rather outdated and obscure, not many photos or much detailed information. What er the standout restaurants and bars at Imperial Palace? What's the gaming like (low or High Roller)?

Imperial Palace is currently in a MAJOR remodel, the place is just a giant construction zone from what i've heard from others that have been. It's definitely on the low end of the "gambling" range. It is a dump in a great location, as far as the hotel is concerned. People love Hash House a Go-Go inside. I stayed there last year and wasn't impressed one iota, and am still shocked I didn't have bed bugs.

 

It is one of the CET hotels, and most would say it is the at the bottom on rankings among their properties. Not to say it is terrible to everyone, as they so seem to keep busy.

 

It's a place to sleep.. I stayed in a luv tub room in october and it was old but nothin to cry about.. Had worse had better.. Not a fan of the dining option. The casino isn't bad lower limits.

right now CET is having an awesome special for ballys ... $200 for 5 nights (nights do not have to be booked together you can book different trips)

 

Stayed there in May for my son's 21st Bday. No troubles room was clean, water hot and beds okay. Just used the rooms to rest in. So I would have not trouble staying here again.

 

we have stayed there many times.

ac works well,beds are comfy and a nice little balcony you can step out on and you can have the door open for fresh air.

also lots of people are not educated on bed bugs,they are in the most expensive hotels as much as the cheap ones.

 

Only ever stayed one night and that was 4 years ago! I had a luv tub room and it was awesome! Cheesy but awesome! Stayed at Harrahs for the last 4 years and pretty much visit IP daily for some lower limits - I would have to say though there is major construction going on right now was there at the beginning of the month - part of the casino was blocked off but still went over there to play a little at least once a day on my 8 day stay. As far as restaurants the only one I ever tried was the Hash House a Go Go and that wasn't bad but overkill on the portion sizes.

 

I'm just going to expand on these same things.

Check in lines greatly depends on time you checkin. I've never waited for more than 10 minutes. If there is a long line, I simply check my bag with the bell desk and come back a few hours later.


Crappy rooms I would kindof agree with. I think they should meet the expectations of anyone who is paying the price of imperial palace though. The IP is one of, if not the cheapest hotel between Mandalay Bay and Wynn. It is cheap for a reason. The 3 times I've stayed though, the room has been clean and met my expectations for a cheap hotel.


If you want to get to sleep between ~11pm and 3am, do NOT get a room on the strip side. You will be hearing nothing but carnival court.

I can't comment on construction because any noise I heard from that was like a whisper compared to carnival court at night.




Food

I wouldn't really recommend any of the food options at IP. I've eaten at HHAGG, a mexican place on the third floor, and a burger place next to the sports book. The first 2 were ok, but I have no reason to back to either. The burger place is good for a burger at 4am after a night of drinking, but I would never go there for lunch.

I don't think I would recommend any of the bars either, there are just better places to go if you just walk 100 ft either way down the strip. You have margaritaville on one side, and carnival court on the other.



You are not getting an amazing deal by booking the IP, you are getting exactly what you are paying for with the IP. If other hotels are cheaper, book them. If IP is cheaper and you book it, expect a cheap hotel. There is nothing wrong with a cheap hotel, just don't expect greatness.

 

IP is fine if what you want is a good location and a place to sleep and shower on the cheap.

That being said it is not luxury it is a standard best western type room that is clean yet dated with a small low stakes casino fast cocktail service and good looking cocktail waitresses. You are not going to get the views and luxury bathrooms, rooms ect that you get at a place like the bellagio, aria, cosmo ect. but it is more then fine for a place to sleep and shower on the cheap. I honestly believe that most people that bash IP have never stayed there or just have never stayed at a standard hotel before and always been at 4+ star resorts.

Do ask for a room away from the carnival court since the rooms that are near it can be loud and don't expect a luxury room and you will be fine. Food there Is HHAGG and not much else thats safe but it is a quick walk to many other places to eat.


I get free rooms at Aria, Bellagio, MGM ect but would have no issue staying at IP if that was my only free option. Just know what it is before you go and if you don't have false hopes you will be fine.

 

IP will always have a special place in my heart, since that was where I started my degenerate ways of gambling, drinking and wenching. It's also the place a host got us signed up for player cards, before they were taken over by CET. That one act has paid off so large it's unable to be quantified.

But it's a dump, and its food should be considered a war crime (except Embers. That's a pretty good steakhouse).

 

I understand that, my experience was the place wasn't very clean. I have also stayed at Days Inn @ Wild Wild West, and actually thought that place was better, but some would disagree. If they spent the money and upgraded, the place would be perfect. The locations great, but carpet and other fixtures were practically falling apart when we stayed. The elevator is very slow and the place is practically a maze inside. Money wise, can't beat it.

 

Not sure if any of the rooms will get an update, but the LVBlog has a pic of the new check-in desk (replaced the bar middle left area) & it looks really nice & spiffy. So if they clean up the rest as nicely it should look very fresh inside.

Just viewed a video of a room on TA from this month in a thread there & it is DEFINITELY better than the place I stayed at in Minneapolis last weekend (at 4x the price). That room had the wires hanging out back of phone & when you used the 2nd plug by the bed it shot sparks out.

Also indicates on there that sounds like new name has been decided but not a Horseshoe . Hopefully not something as dumb as the D. I'm just surprised they don't call the hotel Linq also.

 

I stayed there Once and the room was clean but didn't eat at any of the restaurants. The gaming is fun, my cousins know a lot of the " everything needs an upgrade but other than that it's comfortable but it's no Bellagio with its rooms or gaming

 

I agree with zamboni saying the hallway carpets are gross and it is a real maze.

we try to ignore the common areas as best we can but we find the rooms to be acceptable for the price.

 

It is a maze of a hotel, but this is a place where you get what you pay for. You get a room to sleep in that is clean but out dated. You get hot water and a shower that aren't anything fancy, but do the job. If you are expecting something nice, this isn't your place. I stayed here about a month ago, and the construction didn't bother me a bit.

Gambling here, IMO, is great. Low limits, and the clientele were right down my alley. I truly enjoyed several of my fellow gamblers. Especially enjoyed the lively Craps play here. In fact, although I might not stay here again, just because the hotel is a MAZE, I can for sure see myself gamling here.

 

I will come back & add that the drink service is great if you tip the CW. They were coming around approximately every 10 minutes one time when I was there. Normally not quite that fast - but I coudln't even finish my drinks the one time!!! Yes the glasses are in plastic cups - a bit funky - but I imagine they don't have the storage or facilities for rewashing tons of glasses like the big casinos do.

Ladies bathroom has always been clean - that's a big requirement in my book!

HHAGG is a wonderful breakfast place. Tons of people enjoy supper there but I haven't really enjoyed my supper meals (ok but nothing great). In March they were part of the CET text message offers - we received a text for BOGO Tractor Driver combos. Take your cell to the TR desk & they give you a voucher. I had one with french toast & my co-worker had the standard. We ate super cheap!

Did anyone mention their steakhouse is supposed to be very good also?

 

In the last seven years I have stayed at the Imperial Palace almost 20 times. I have never had a problem with the place.
I have read the reviews and opinions and I know what to expect.It always amused me when I read about people booking a room at the IP and then being disappointed by what they got.
If people would take the time to do some research, they would understand that the IP is not a luxury hotel. If you did not book a room at Bellagio, do not expect that type of luxury at the IP. You do get what you pay for. Why do you think the room rates are so low? That's a clue right there.
Like I said , I have never had a problem with the IP, it fills my needs and desire. All I need is clean, safe room. The IP gives me that. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you have the right attitude, the IP is all you need.

 

And I've always been surprised that those defending the IP think everyone that gives it a negative review was EXPECTING a luxury experience, or otherwise didn't do their research.

If you like it, that's fine. But that doesn't mean every person that doesn't like it was put off by the lack of a solid gold bidet in the bathroom.

Personally, I have no problem with a short stay there if you need/want to be on the strip, and there is a wide price gap with neighboring properties. But a lot of the time, you're talking about a 10-25/night price difference with Harrah's next door. And at that difference, I'll take Harrah's every time.
