I head to vegas in three weeks. I am staying at a timeshare without a casino. I expect to bring about $3000 with me for 3 days of play - mostly craps - andwill playing in several places - Bellagio, Planet HO. Bills. I will probably be back in vegas once a year on average. Although I do get to Atlantic City quite a bet and play at the Ceasars "total rewards" propoerties down there once a month or so.

So my quesiton is this: Should I even bother getting and using cards for the places while I am in Vegas?

Yes - you should absolutely get cards and use them. They can easily make you a new card while you are at the table, and they will track your play. $3,000 for 3 days, or $1,000 per day gambling budget - that's worth something. At the very least, you'll earn some food comps, and you are almost certainly going to get future room offers.

It costs you nothing to join, so why not? Anything you get from them will be gravy.

You should use the cards because at places like the MGM properties (MLife) or the CET properties (Total Rewards) you will earn points that you might be able to use while on your current trip.

IE: if you were to earn even just 800 points on your Total Rewards card thats not enough to move you up a tier to Platinum and its not likely to get you future offers of any significance from Total Rewards, however it is still $8 worth of points you can spend - maybe just as a discount to the buffet or if you need some cigarettes from the gift shop or could use it to buy a bag of chips and a beer at the store there.

I get nice comped rooms from CET all the time for alot less $$ than that. You should absolutely be getting the cards and using them every time, the CET TR program is valid at all their casinos, including AC.

Trying to figure out ANY reason no to have a card. Only one that maybe makes sense is the person that comes to Vegas with $20 as their total gambling budget.

Yes, get a card. Also, if you do most of your play at CET properties, you are apt to get better offers. If all things are equal, and you do Atlantic City as well, then stick with CET.

Have you not used a card at Caesars in Atlantic City on past visits?

If you are using a card at CET props in AC, you may have already been eligible for free rooms in Vegas already vs. paying for a time share! It's the same card.

Definitely get the cards. Its really pretty quick and easy to get them.

Even in the worst case (no offers), if you are in a TR casino every month your points will slowly build up over time, and get you some free stuff.

But at that bankroll, I'd be surprised if you couldn't get at least free weekday rooms at the lesser CET props.

Thanks everyone. I guess I will remember to flash my TR card at the tables at Bills and Planet Ho. And I sometimes throw a couple of twenties into a slot machine just for the hell of it, so who knows. Maybe a free burger by the time I am done.

What about the Bellagio.....the M life program? Is that tough to get anything for my play?

It really is a serious question.

I play in PA several times a month and always use my card and never get anything in return. No Free play, no meal credit. Nothing

In AC I go to the Borgatta four or five times a year and I do get offers: Free rooms, $25 in free play each month, buffet passes and comedy club tickets.

But other places in AC, including the CES properties, I have never received anything. I have been to Bally's and Ceasars four times this year and as of today have 2277 Reward Credits and a tier score of 649. So I am halfway to a $25 Macy's gift card. Big Whoopie. I use my card all the time and it seems to be a total waste of time. I guess I will use my Total Reward cards at the CES properties in Vegas, although I don't know what good it will do.

But do I really awant to waste time standing in lines and filling out forms at the other places if I am not going to get anything back for it.

Or am I doing something wrong?

your problem is you're probably not even being rated most of the time. and CET is terrible at rating for table games. and craps is one of the lowest rated games out there. all of those 3 things combine to where you earn less than you deserve for your play. even playing at a $200-300 avg roll at craps at MGM which treats table games players better than CET, i still see very little return on that play. all my comps come from Bacc.

You should generate some free room offers from CET, and if you maybe drop down to a more mid level MGM casino like NYNY, MC or MB you might get something from them if you concentrate all of your play there to be during the same day.

yeah get a card for sure. i have the CET card. got it when i was in vegas, and well i spent maybe 100 on some video poker, rest on poker. and i got my 5 day trip this summer all comped. so i dont think it take much to get some free room offers.

    Okay, hold on.

All the advice about getting a card are for naught. He already has one.

Yes, use it. Try to focus play on separate days at CET. For example, playing $50 on Mon, $600 on Tues and $50 on Wed will kill you average. In that example, I would not use it on Mon or Wed.

Meanwhile, with a tier score of 649, you are either not playing as much as I thought, or they are not bothering to rate you. Guessing a combination of both.

As to standing in line at OTHER casinos for a card. Probably not worth your time. But, for CET, you already have a card.

I will respectfully disagree with this. If you play tables at a certain level, my observations have been that the pit bosses at CET props generally give you the benefit of the doubt when being rated. In fact, they usually tend to be higher than my avg bet. Can't really say for sure with some MGM props, such as Mirage and Monte Carlo when I disagreed and asked them to review with the camera-- Of course, they gave me a couple of hundred higher for my avg after reviewing.

CET gives some of the best rating for craps, especially if you play the inside numbers, than most of the other casinos. In fact, craps with CET earns better ratings than BJ, Pai Gow, and Bac.

If you play at a certain level with CET, while you earn TC at a slower rate than MGM, your host can pretty much take care of your charges.

    Good job. Maybe.

They "said" they reviewed the tapes.
They "said" they raised your rating.

How do we know if what they REALLY put into the computer?

For a table game player, you are not going to get much in rewards credits from CET.

What you ought to get though, are discount rates. Put your TR# in their system, and then look at the rate calendar for all the Vegas hotels. You might find that those rates are quite discounted, and/or that you are offered some COMP nights.

For reference, I've never had more than 3000 reward credits or more than 1000 tier credits on my account at any one time, but I get free room offers mailed to me for Caesars Windsor here and there, and can get free rooms for Vegas from the rate calendar.

Out of curiosity, what sort of min bet do you play at table games?

PS> As for the multiple cards, if you are playing at a table, you can usually get a friendly pit boss to print up a players card for you instead of looking for the player's club.

My last trip to Ceasars in AC was typical. Bought in for $400 just before midnight. Play the $10 pass line with single odds. Started with three place bets for $10/12 each. So minimum in play is 44 plus 10 odds (which I know some houses do not count). After a couple of rolls, I will increase the units on my place bets- the more they hit the higher they go . Some shooters sevened out with me having $100 in play. With some luck,. the press bets go higher...one shooter got my placed 6 up to $120 and he sevenned out with over $200 of my money on the felt. Occassionally I throw a few bucks on the hard ways and I usually have $10 center action on the comeout. Cashed out at 3:30 with $575. Nice night.

And yes, I do throw bets for the dealers when I am winning, but not when I am losing.

So I admit I am not a huge player. You are right, I will use the TR card when I am in a TR house, will probably not bother elsewhere. Just seems odd get so much more from the Borgata in AC than any of the CET properties.
