    My Trip Report

Hello, gentle readers. It's time to tell our tale.

For this report I'll refer to the hubster as A and myself as...myself.
He's the ar part of this board name and I'm the dee.

Took care of the cats (No pictures this time. Don't be too sad.),
locked up the house and made our way to
Sin City from Southern California in record time, about 3 hrs. or so.

We stopped at the M Resort for the lunch buffet
(Studio B) and had a good time trying out some
of the dishes. For those who aren't aware, Studio B
offers free beer and wine (limited selections but worth the $$)
as part of the price of the buffet.
A picked a Newcastle Founders Ale for himself and ordered
me up a PBR-both on draft. Hit the spot along with our tasty food
offerings. The buffet also offers some really delicious artisan breads
along with soups such as lobster bisque, miso soup, and a yummy
    chicken noodle.

A had a great time indulging in the fried shrimp
and I had a hankering for some of the hand-carved turkey
with the fixings, so that's the route we (mostly) took.
We didn't overindulge, and no desserts were had, even
though they offer some fantastic gellatos at this place.

    We had reservations for Sinatra
at Encore later that night and wanted to reserve
our appetites for one of our favorite spots to dine in Vegas. :licklips:

The two of us hit the slots for just a little bit, as we
wanted to try some of the new ones out there like CLUE,
Lord of the Rings 3 Reel, and others we've read about
    on some of the boards.

A started off playing Godzilla and was happy to hit the MechaGodzilla bonus for around 70.00.
Not life-changing money but fun, nonetheless.

We met up at LOTR 3 before heading off to Wynn, and we're glad we did.
That's where our lucky streak took off!
A was playing for a few spins while I (mostly) sat and watched before he hit this pretty little thing:

Woo hoo! It set the tone for winning because we were up for the trip even
before checking in to the Wynn!

LOTR 3 was to become our new favorite this trip, to be sure. :blowkiss:

Will continue on with Wynn, Parasol Up, Sinatra (at Encore) and more slot play (and wins!!!) in a little bit.

That looks pretty! Would have been fun to see a 2x Wild on the screen across all lines! Wonder what that pays

We cashed in and headed off to the Wynn for check-in around 2pm.

Went pretty smoothly. Room wasn't quite ready so we left the bags with the bellman
and took a look around to see what was new.

Spotted some machines we wanted to play like Outback Jack Adventures,
Princess Bride, Epic Monopoly, the newest version of Wheel of Fortune and many others.
I was as happy and excited as a kid in a candy store. :faint:

I was a child of the seventies, when arcades and video games were
just starting to become a big thing.
I guess the fun just stuck with me and these types of games
    are what attract me.
Love the bonus rounds and entertainment factor.
That, combined with the possibility of winning a little
    something-something :D,
always has me coming back for more. (Which is what these
slot gaming companies count on, I know.)

It wasn't too long before they texted us, and our room was ready.
We were off to unpack and freshen up.

    Trip side note :wiggle::

I had originally planned for us to try a photo scavenger-hunt this
trip. I grabbed a couple ideas off the boards and made a list of
things we might take pictures of during our adventures.
Whoever took the most photos of things on the list, won!
    Right.
Like that was gonna happen once I saw all those shiny
    games in the casino. :kill:

It was a nice idea at the time but I thought about it only after
    I had spotted a neat photo opportunity...like a girl in a "It's My Birthday"
sash and The NHL hockey fans lined up to see the awards at
the Wynn theater. Now, that was a mixed bag of people to behold!
Everything from folks in evening gowns and hockey jerseys/jeans,
to sportscaster-types in newscaster coats holding microphones...
all standing in line for the event.
It was quite a cross-sectioned slice of life, I'll tell you! :biker::cowboy::pirate::jester::santa:alien1:

We moved on to Venetian/Palazzo to see what they had to offer.
I did get a few photos for the scavenger hunt
but I might have cheated just a teensy bit. :noangel:

I'm not entirely sure, but don't think an accordian player was originally on the list :ssst::

And I stretched the definition of an Elvis sighting a little too far, some might say  :

But what can I tell you? I had enoyed a few cocktails by this time
and was trying to win now...at all costs! :evillaugh

Oh, and if you think A did any better...here's his lame-o picture of random people and a fountain for your viewing enjoyment:

I'll be back soon to add the stuff I promised in the last installment...plus...
a crazy adventure of its own:
The Chuck Jones Experience (Love that man! :nworthy:)
at--Yes! You read this correctly...Circus Circus!

    Thank you, techie.
I said the same thing to A.
Max bet is 3.50. Minimum 35c.
It was a new slot for us, so we started with lower
bets to see how it played out.

    Okay...on with the show.

We walked over to Encore and had a nice cocktail at the Sinatra bar before dinner.
A had the Sinatra Smash and I had the Limoncello Lemondrop.
Both were quite tasty and service at the bar was attentive.

We were seated for dinner and Larry, our server, told us about the
specials. What's that I hear? An appetizer of linguine
    pasta with truffles?
Let's go for that one. :licklips:
They split the appy for us and we were lucky enough to receive
very generous amounts of shaved truffle over our plates .
The truffles were the milder, summer type,
so the taste was subtle and melded nicely with
the olive oil, butter and sea salt in the dish.
    Fantastic.

A had the Saltimbocca- pork tenderloin scallopini topped with sage and prosciutto
and served with a side of marscapone spinach. Heavenly.

I had the filet of beef special with chive mashed potatoes
    and sauteed, fresh soy beans.
Really enjoyed mine but loooooved A's more. Sharing is caring.

No pictures of the meals this visit, as we were interested in enjoying our
time together without the distraction of photos.

    Or, I forgot.
I'm pretty sure it's one of those two.

For dessert, a tasting of gelatos.
    Chocolate, lemon and vegan-coconut.
If you have a chance to try the coconut offering at any of the Wynncore
restaurants, do yourself a favor and get it!
Cool, creamy, coco-nutty deliciousness. :faint: You won't be sorry.
To enhance the flavors of our dessert, A ordered a 20 year old
    Tawny port. Lovely.

Here's a photo of the beautiful Crystal Ship, hanging from the ceiling above the bar. Loved it.
A says it's an appropriate placement because of some Doors song with the same title. He's a big Doors fan. Me, not so much. :peace:

    He quoted me some lyrics:
"...Before you slip into unconsiousness, I'd like to have another kiss. Another flashing chance at bliss..."

I wonder if 'Ol Blue Eyes ever covered that song?

After dinner, we headed for the casino floor to play our favorite slots.

I spied Epic Monopoly and gave that a bit of play.
After 10 minutes or so, I had won a few bonuses and
was up about $120. I headed over to my new best friend,
the LOTR 3 reel and played on that puppy for a long time.
Lots of bonuses and entertaining graphics. Fun, fun, fun.

We both hit for similar amounts throughout the evening and I
didn't always remember to take photos, as I had enjoyed
our meal so much I was extremely relaxed.
And a little bit drunk. :drunk:

We played on Princess Bride for a bit too.
This game also has a lot of entertaining bonuses and if
you like the movie, you might enjoy playing this slot.
A won this after picking the correct (unpoisoned) goblet
several times, during one of the bonuses.

The night was drawing to a close and we were a bit tired, so A
went to a VP machine to turn some of his free play into cash.
    Nice when it happens.

It was time for bed about 1:30am.
We needed to rest up for the next day's excursion to
    The Chuck Jones Experience.

I'll be back with more of that in a few...

Before heading to the Chuck Jones exhibit, we walked over to Society Cafe for a little breakfast.

A ordered an omelet with bacon, onion and tomato, served with
pan-roasted breakfast potatoes and a side of toast.

I went for the fresh fruit plate (always fresh, ripe and sweet)
and a sesame-seed bagel with cream cheese.
Saw watermelon juice on the menu and just had to try it.
    Very nice.

We settled up the bill and headed to the taxi stand for a quick
    ride over to Circus Circus.
Trying to find the Chuck Jones exhibit was more of an ordeal
than it needed to be. A wisely checked out the casino
map and we thought we were headed in the right way
    at first.

Spotted this poster on the elevator to the 2nd floor.

Got off the elevator and walked down the hall...no Chuck.

Got back on the elevator and headed up to the 3rd floor.

    Okay...we're close. Here's another sign:

We had to rough it through the midway section where the kiddie rides
and circus stuff and hoards of strollers abound.
I'm not a fan of Circus Circus but I was more than willing to trek
through this place and more to see a celebration of the work of this great animator!
I've admired Chuck Jones' work ever since my dad introduced me
to LooneyTunes as a little girl. He was a rabid fan and wanted to
make sure his daughters learned and appreciated the talent
and artistry that went into making these cartoons.
    Not to mention the humor!

I was lucky enough to have attended a lecture
given by Mr. Jones back in the early 90's.
He presented clips from his favorite cartoons
and explained where he and his team found the inspiration for
so much of the classic animation we know today.
He was charming and funny and impeccably dressed--
    complete with his signature bow-tie.
    Just a great, great guy.
Truly, one of the highlights of my life to know I was
in the presence of such talent. :nworthy:

    So onto the exhibit...finally!

    Finally! We're in! :

And one (or three) more for good measure! :

We weren't allowed to take photos of his personal drawings, illustrations
or workpapers...but they were absolutely fascinating.
His work-desk and many of his sentimental tchotchkes were on site too.
We had a great time just strolling through the rooms and taking in
the brilliant work of this true artist.
There was a small theater where guests could sit and watch animation.
    We did...and it was glorious.
I was so happy when A told me about spotting a thread
on this board about The Chuck Jones Experience.
Thank you, VMB! We had a great time!

Just before leaving, we noticed a beautiful pencil sketch of Elmer Fudd
with the "magic helmet" from the classic
    "What's Opera, Doc?".
You know, the one where he's upset because Bugs
just played him for a fool (again!).
I still laugh when I see those braids, helmet and breastplate flying...
as Bugs tumbles from that pleasantly plump (okay, fat) horse.
    :evillaugh
    Hah...good one.

Okay folks...next up: Cocktails at Parasol Up, a fine dinner at Country Club and some (more) nice
slot winnings to close out our report.
    See you soon.

It's not so much that combo, but the fact that I hit it as a result of the "Gimli's Axe" bonus, which is a "Spin 'til you win" bonus that then retriggers from 1 to 10 times. I got a $60-something payout that retriggered 6 times.

It's a very nice bonus.

    Time to finish this up.

We taxied back to the Venetian, mostly to check out their slot offerings.

Played a bit on the new Aladdin machine, which gave us quite a lot of bang for our buck.
Once I found A (after splitting up and wandering about), I sat at the machine next to him
and we proceeded to have a ball! This new slot has interactive technology and the chair
moves as if you're flying on the magic carpet with Aladdin.
A really enjoyed this feature and had it pumped up to full speed! :biker:
Mine was on low. For anyone concerned with motion sickness while
    trying out this machine...no worries.
You can choose to turn that feature off.
Had a lot of fun getting bonuses and left up around 75.00
Didn't remember to take a picture but try and check this
slot out if you enjoy this type of interactive machine.

More info here about Aladdin & The Magic Quest:

    http://now.wms.com/products/aladdin

After our fun with Aladdin, we headed back to Wynn for
a little people-watching and relaxation at the Parasol Up lobby bar.

Found some comfy seats and checked out the specialty cocktail
menu to see what they had to offer.

I chose a White Cosmo and

A ordered the Pear-asol, the bar's signature cocktail.

Our server, Lisette, couldn't have been more gracious and sweet.
She brought us some snacks of seasoned and roasted
mixed nuts, as well as ketchup chips. :licklips: Very tasty.
We enjoyed our time just relaxing and admiring our surroundings.
Try this place. I think you'll like it. Especially in the mid-to-late
afternoon, as it gets crowded in the evening.

It was time to go back to the room and just hang out and
read/relax til we were ready for our dinner at Country Club.

Got ready for the evening and headed down for our meal.

    Here is A's review:

    Absolutely sublime.

One of the best places I have ever eaten at, and that's saying something. Atmosphere, service, food...it all works.

We showed up early for 8:30 reservations and were seated immediately. Foregoing wine (since we had come directly from Parasol Up) we ordered cocktails and appetizers to start. The wife had a martini, while I had an Island Mule, which was basically a Moscow Mule with rum instead of vodka. Both were large and delicious. The appetizers were as well. I had the selection of heirloom tomatoes with a basalmic reduction, while the wife had the crab cake with aoili. We shared liberally and were quite pleased. For entrees, she had the free-range chicken, while I opted for the chili-rubbed flat-iron Wagyu steak. As a side, we split the bacon/corn concoction.

What can I say? That steak was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. The side was delicate and unbelieveably flavorful. The bacon didn't overpower the garden-fresh corn at all. The chicken was good as well, but what can you really do with chicken?

For dessert, we decided on the ice cream trio and Grand Marnier Cuvee di Cent Cinquantenaire. Chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter ice creams and one of the most generous pours of GM I've ever seen. The perfect end to a perfect meal. It helped that it was a Wednesday, which means the place was very lightly attended.

Go here. Eat here. Forget what it costs. Just do it!

So there you have it. Thanks, A.

Off we went for more slot-playing and VP action before bed.
A went off to try and turn the rest of his free play into cash,
and I headed toward Outback Jack for some bonus fun.

Managed to get several bonuses that kept me up and able to
hit the max button every once in a while to see what it would
    bring.
At one point, Jack drove by in his Jeep and boomeranged me
a few wilds on my screen. And then...:blink: on the same
    spin...
He ran back and gave me 2 more rows of wilds!!!

I'm so sorry not to have taken a picture but I wasn't expecting
the win and I got all caught up in seeing it flash through to
    $580.00 very quickly!

I love you Outback Jack! :blowkiss:

Met up with A and shared in my newfound luck.
Then it was off to hit LOTR 3 Reel before bed!

We always seem to have our best luck after midnight, so
I sat down and started to play. My favorite bonus is Frodo.
If his bonus is activated, you get a certain number of free spins.

Well, after playing for 10-15 mins. and pressing max bet
every 2 or 3 spins just to tempt fate, I hit the Cave Troll bonus.
It's the type that will repeat the win on that spin from
    1-10 times.

Well, as luck would have it....the stars aligned and...
it hit more than one spin but I was on the phone to
A to tell him to come meet me-I had something
    to show him!

    Bazinga! :woot:

The slot attendant was there very quickly and I was a little stunned
but strangely calm. Which is good for me, because I'm a screamer.
He took my I.D. and social security info and was off to get my
    green stuff! :faint:

Just then, A walked up with a beaming smile on his face!
He held up a ticket and proudly showed me this:

I smiled and congratulated him, then pointed to my machine.

It was then I realized that I had just slot-blocked my own husband. :wink2:

Don't worry, he got over it once the hand-pay showed up! :woohoo:

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read our trip report.

And thanks to Mr. Chuck Jones for all the smiles he's given us along
    the way!

We wish you good fortune and a lot of wins on your next trip:

Niiiiiice win there! Y'all had a great trip & that was an awesome trip report.

I really appreciate all that information & pictures about the Chuck Jones experience - my husband is a huge fan, I think I will surprise him with it when we go in December, I just have to leave out the Circus-Circus details hahaha.
You are also inspiring me to visit V/P, haven't been there in years.

And thanks for all the details on the new slots!

    Congrats!
