Wicked Spoon vs. M buffet???

We haven't tried either of these, but would like to try one this trip. We're staying downtown and at Aliante, but have a car, so location is not an issue. Which has better variety? Better quality? All thoughts are welcome! Thanks in advance.

 

Just ate at Wicked Spoon last Tuesday and it was the best buffet I have ever tried in Vegas! It was cheaper than I thought it would be also at $22 for the brunch which also included a mimosa or bloody Mary. The selection of food there was awesome and they Pre plate some of the food so that you get to try everything without filling up on just a couple things. I really liked that. The service was great to I was never out of water and always had a clean place mat when I got back to the table. Highly recommended!!

 

I much prefer M, but only think the price is worth it for the seafood version Friday-Sunday. Oh yum!

 

I am not a big buffet person, but I go to The M buffet once on every trip to Vegas. It's that good

I tried the Wicked Spoon once for dinner, and although I found some things that were very good, I also tried many that were dried out because of the cutesy little containers they use. Overall I was disappointed for the price. I would only eat there again if it were comped.

 

Both offer very good food. Wicked Spoon has the better atmosphere. Studio B at the M is a better value and, in my experience, friendlier and faster service.

 

My wife and I really enjoyed the Wicked Spoon when we were there in January and will definitely be going back when we return in a few days! Everything I had was great!

 

+1. The brunch buffet is great and for only 22 its a bargin. Out of all standard strip casino buffet Wynn is the only one that can compete with it.

 

Wynn, Bellagio, Cosmo and M Resort currently have the 4 best buffets in Vegas. Period. Pick one.... you really can't go wrong with the top tier spreads.

Either they have upped their service 100X or we ate at a different Wicked Spoon the last time we stayed at Cosmo! We even tried it again a second time we thought maybe the 1st was a one off bad trip, 2nd time was even worse if thats possible and im not a fussy person at all when it comes to buffets! Poor service, lack of choice of food, the so called "hot plates" they keep the food on dont work, food was cold. Its really the only buffet I openly slate but enjoyed our stay in Cosmo overall.

 

In the buffet world, timing can be everything. If you eat lunch at 2 pm or dinner at 830 pm, you aren't getting a true taste of their offerings. Even though the top tier buffets aren't using 100 gallon steam troughs, don't think for a second that dinner at 830 pm is going to be in the same league as the initial changeover at 4 pm. Fact.

I've eaten at the Cosmo buffet many times, and while the quality varies, it is still a top notch buffet even on down times.

M Resort by far. I won't set foot in Wicked Spoon ever again after our last experience. Absolutely shitty service and attitude. M Resort wants you there.

It also helps that we always get 2fers, line-jumper passes and can pay with points (that we get to keep!)

 

Just thought I'd add my two cents...my hubby and I had great meals both at The Wicked Spoon and the Wynn buffet! Both eateries were clean, had pleasant service, and excellent variety. We went to The Wicked Spoon on Christmas Day, so the lines were very long; however, the food was still hot, fresh, and tasty (We esp. liked the lamb and pho noodle soup.)

The buffet at the Wynn may be well worth checking out too. In addition to a beautiful, vibrant atmosphere, they've got a fantastic selection of salads, meats, ethnic dishes, and desserts. Service was delightful and fast.

 

I think the choice is easy: do them both!

Both buffets are excellent, but they are also very different. They are also somewhat less expensive than Wynn and Bellagio, which seem to be the consensus favorites.

For the record, my wife and I love the Wynn buffet but feel the Bellagio has gone way downhill. The buffet at Mandalay Bay rarely gets mentioned among the favorites, but we've always had great meals and service there, and it tends to be not as crowded.

If you're there on a weekday, lunch is pretty cheap at M.

 

Just back and finally had a chance to drive out to M and try the buffet - not too impressed - service was excellent but the food, to me, was not too interesting - it was too salty and overseasoned. The hot dishes were well heated, however, and my husband liked the flavors better than I did. He chose traditional foods (roast beef, mash, green beans, etc), and I was having mussels, paneer, etc.

At the Wicked Spoon, ( a few months ago), I felt the food was much, much better, seemed almost like a mid-level "nice" restaurant - lamb, etc - very good. I would definately return there and definately not bother going to M again, however, like most buffets (and restaurants, for that matter) - much is subjective and we like to try everything once - hope you feel the same!!
