Hi Gomar, I think the guy thought he could go to Vegas and win lots of money and then on the next day he could return the money given to him
by mistake by the Bank ATM. I have a feeling he did win some money but wanted to win lots of money. That is where he made a serious mistake.
He should have been happy to just walk away with what he won.

The moral of the story is.... don't gamble with other peoples money because
you will not be able to pay it back.

I had a relative ask me to lend her $2,000. on a Wednesday to pay some emergency bills and she would pay me back on Friday when she would get her check. I didn't lend her the money. She had lied to me because I heard that she was gambling in Vegas on a Thursday and didn't win any money.
I guess some fool lend her the money.

I have heard of a lot of people gamble all of their money including the rent money and the money to pay their monthly bills.
They then get the attitude of "WOE IS ME", and get all sad.

I think it is okay to lose gambling money that has been set aside to play with but not okay to gamble with money that you need to support yourself.

Haha, this reminds me of my friend one time at the Walker Hill casino in Seoul. He was playing blackjack next to me, loses all his money, and asks me to loan him cab fare. I loan him about 100 bucks, and he proceeds to bet it right in front of me! He starts winning, and pays me back the 100 bucks about 10 hands later!

I dare you to say that after experiencing a prostate exam.....I just had my first one during a physical, my physician used two gloves, two fingers, and a generous dab of Surgilube and it was most unpleasant.

 

I dont think he should face any charges, he committed no fraud, tampered with nothing. Granted he's a moron for losing all that money so fast, but I kind of admire his moxie!

 

ok, so just ask to see the bills, hospital, rent, utility, etc. Simple way to handle such people. Even if she/he did have the bills, doesnt mean they will pay with the $ you lent them. So, ask for caletarel, a passport, ID, jewelry, their PC or laptop, or some vital item.
Be, like a pawn shop, you give $, you get stuff.

Not sure about other states but in Pa. anything less than 23 1/2 months is in the county jail. In my county that would be easy time.

And yes I'm 50, I have been violated by my doc.

And last year I had a colonoscopy O what fun.

 

Of course it's not this guy's fault. The ATM made him do it. No sense of responsibility on the world these days. Always somebody else's fault for what we do.

 

I hope you aren't serious. He took money that wasn't his AND he spent it. Simply being physically able to take possession of property doesn't transfer ownership.

I am serious, of course he's a crook, but the bank is at fault, By the way - all the banks need to do is go to the casino's and ask for their money back, after all the guy lost it to them, they have it, and giving it back won't cost them a thing. How do you think that would turn out?

If the casinos give it back, the banks are out nothing, the casinos are even, the guy doesn't have to go to jail, and all is well in the world! But just as the guy took the money out of greed, the casinos will keep it out out that same greed.

 

are you kidding me? this is no different than me leaving my garage open and you walking in and riding off with my bike and you say it's my fault you took it because i left the garage open. beliefs like this are seriously what's wrong with the world these days.

 

I am being somewhat facitious, I just dont have an ounce of sympathy for the bank, they screwed up, can't blame some gambling addicted homeboy for doing what comes naturally. I do think the casinos should just give back the money to the banks though.
If I steal a car and sell it to somebody, when it's found out that it's stolen the poor guy who bought the car is out.

 

i don't have any sympathy for the bank either and couldn't care less if they lose the money or the casino. either way it's just a dent in their balance sheet. but that doesn't make what he did right. and of course you can blame him. addiction or not, he was the one that withdrew 1.5M of money that he knew wasn't his. an addition doesn't excuse your actions or remove your blame. maybe he would be better served with some treatment for his addiction rather than jail, but what he did was wrong no matter how you slice it.

 

Why would he take that money and gamble with it? wasnt the money a windfall to start with?

 

it's not necessary for anyone to "lose" the money, the bank is out the 1.5 million and the casino is ahead 1.5 million.

 

No shit. They should lock this guy up for the rest of his life just for being a giant f---ing idiot. You get 1.5 million and you give it all back in two weeks. What a dumbass. You suddently receive more money than you have ever seen or made in your entire life, yet you want to get more by gambling??
