The title says it all. I quit smoking cigarettes a few years ago but did pick up the fantastic habit of smoking a cigar every couple weeks (out of the frying pan, into the fire.. I'll pretend it's not as bad for me, certainly is cheaper).

I have had visions of myself enjoying a complimentary beverage and a fine cigar one night while either playing a table game (preferred) or perhaps slots. I know the poker room is obviously a :nono: but I was just thinking about the signage in my local casino, which allows cigarette's but forbids cigar smoking.

I am hopeful and confident the answer is, "Yes, you can smoke cigar's in the strip casino's at either table games or slot machines" but I wanted to consult the experts. I've been holding some pretty nice cigars and LV is the occasion :)

yes you can smoke them where you want.

Obviously being couteous to others would be nice.

you will undoubtedly encounter naysayers who dont like cigar smoke or who cough like they are choking to death but thats no excuse to not do what you want.

I wouldn't do it at a full table, that's just my opinion though. Also I try to be courteous of the smoke towards the dealer or he might try to smoke your bankroll!

Agreed, I will look for a good spot to enjoy my stogie that doesn't negatively impact those around me!

Thanks for the confirmation! If they didn't allow cigar smoking in the casino's I would have almost been as disappointed as I was when I learned most pools don't go deeper than 4'.

I've lit up a stogie before playing slots but I did feel like a dick. I picked a machine away from others so they didnt have to smell it but I still felt weird about it. The paranoia alone made me put it out. But no one bothered me. And the wave pool at Mandalay Bay is pretty deep. I think you can swim out to the 8' mark if you want! But probably not while smoking :nono:

I smoke cigars regularly in vegas, and like everyone says, you can smoke everywhere but the poker room, but I feel really guilty sitting at a blackjack table with them. I usually smoke when wandering around, or at cigar lounges.

Be considerate, and no one will say anything, and if they do, you can comfortably tell them to go die in a grease fire.

just to add my thoughts, for some reason, I really dislike cigarette smoke but a cigar smells good to me. I don't smoke em but if I stumble upon a cigar store, will stop and visit just for the smell. I know, strange but it is what it is. :D

    Yes, people do it often.

And then people have to leave their slot machine and go somewhere else.

Mmmmm, cigar smells. I'm always happy to sit with someone smoking a cigar.

I'd just stress the "be courteous" part. While some enjoy the smell and taste, many don't. My husband always smokes them outside or in a lounge. He doesn't ever smoke at a machine. In fact, I do have to say that he's a very courteous smoker, whether it be cigars or cigs. People appreciate it. :)

Personally, I would never cough or gag (LOL) when someone smoking near me is being or at least attempting to be a courteous smoker. Even if the smell did gag me, if I see the smoker is trying to hold his cig or whatever away from me, I always appreciate it and react in kind.

I think it's very nice of you to be concerned enough about it to ask. :)

Most casinos are plenty big enough for you to enjoy your cigar & if it bothers the players around you they can move. A man with a poopy smelling cigar sat a few machines away from me & I moved, when he left I went back to the machine I was on, NBD.

Have you considered a pipe? I am not a smoker so I have no idea the difference for the user, but quite a few pipe tobaccos have a non offensive aromatic smell. And you can pick your look with the style of your pipe - Sherlock Holmes to granny from the Beverly Hillbillies.

I can only recall being at a table once with another player with a cigar & he sat at the end & held it away. It wasn't a poop smelling one so I don't recall wanting to leave.

Enjoy your trip - all of it!

I always try to be courteous of others around me.

I normally try to find an empty bj table and ask the dealer if they mind cigar smoke. I wouldn't feel guilty about other players as long as I was there first and they knew what they are getting into when they sat down.

Same goes at the vp bar as long as there is a couple empty seats between me and the next person. If someone comes to a machine by me than I would think they don't mind or they wouldn't sit next to me.

One trip I was playing on the machines at the Trop & 4 ladies were surrounding one of their friends playing some penny slot machine - the way they were whooping & hollering & jumping you would have thought every spin was a jackpot. The lady on the machine next to me did not approve of the exuberance, she left & went to some other side of the casino.

It's a big place, there's room for everyone.

In all the years I've been going to Vegas, I've never had a problem with cigars in the casinos. In fact when we were in Vegas for my son's 21st bday in May. We were smoking cigars every day and night in Vegas. Taught him to cut, lite and smoke. Man was it a great time and boy was his mother mad with me than me taking him to Deja Vue. Never figured that one out. So enjoy that cigar!

yes definitely enjoy your cigar. SOme people don't like it but seriously don't sweat it, they are welcome to go somewhere else if they don't like. Obviously you aren't going to be over the top with it. Personally I would rather be at a table full of Cigar smokers than Cigarettes.

It's your vacation to, enjoy it the way YOU want to.

I once was pregnant inVegas, and believe me, being pregnant you can smell everything! I was playing slot machines, and the guy sitting next 2 slot machines to me lighted a cigar, which smell I honestly dislke. My surprise was the smell did not bothered me at all! I think Vegas Casinos have excellent ventilation systems and sometimes you would not even notice if someone next to you is smoking. So go ahead, enjoy your cigar en enjoy Vegas!!!

I think it is beyond rude to light a cigar at a table or even at the pool.

It really affects everyone around you. I will leave a table immediately if anyone lights up a cigar. It is off the scales rude to me.

I don't care if you are 'allowed' to do it. It is simply rude
