I'll be in LV in a couple weeks, staying at the Flamingo. During the WSOP which poker rooms (closer to the Flamingo is better) are generally more full later at night, thinking around 11:00 PM and later. My fiance isn't a poker player which means I'm generally going to be hitting the tables late at night when she is tired.

What I want to avoid is wasting precious poker time :)nono:) running around looking for a room with more than 8 players. I am looking to play more 1/2 - 1/3 NLHE than limit this trip.

Any advice on where I should go would be greatly appreciated!

    Give Ballys a try.

If there aren't enough people there (unlikely), there will certainly be plenty of players at the Rio.

Download the Bravo poker app. It will let you know how many tables, how many players, and what limits are at each room using the software, which is most. Cash games during the WSOP are great. I would think the ones that have the most tourney actions will have carryover players afterwards: Rio, Venetian, Wynn, etc. Further, I would guess that the rooms which are typically busy outside the WSOP will be the busier ones during as well.

I don't think you will have any trouble finding a $1-$2 or $1-$3 NL game late evening around Flamingo. Obvious places are Bally's, Bellagio, Mirage and Venetian. Not sure about Caesars but I would expect the other places to be buzzing.

Downloading now! Great tool if it works well (has some bad reviews for bug issues). It probably won't be a big problem finding a hoppin place but I really do a lot better when the poker room has several tables spreading the same game so I can put in for a table change if the table environment is unfavorable.

    Thanks for all the input!

There are games everywhere at 11PM. If you want many tables spreading the same game you should go to Bellagio and Caesars, maybe PH.

It was a couple of years ago. Shifter was in law school and had saved up a roll to play in the big game at a underground club.

In "Confessions of a Winning Poker Player," Jack King said, "Few players recall big pots they have won, strange as it seems, but every player can remember with remarkable accuracy the outstanding tough beats of his career." It seems true to Shifter, cause walking in there, he couldn't hardly remember how he built his bankroll, but he can't stop thinking about the way he lost it.

Playing with 3 stacks of high society he sat down with one of the most feared poker players in New York (not my place to say names here). He still remembers the hand, seeing his opponent over bet the river and instead of working it through all he could think about was Vegas and the f***ing Mirage.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned but the Venetian is by FAR the best choice. Biggest room, lots of action and very efficient staff. It's definitely where you want to be during the WSOP.

The other location would be the RIO, but that's obviously not close to Harrah's.

my friend introduced me to Bac and i got addicted!

plus i do play poker in a couple of local games around here, so when i'm at the casino i'd rather play what i can't play here.

Not if your goal is maximizing profit.

This is obviously debatable and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

In general the juiciest rooms in my opinion have always been those that play host to bad, aggressive players with big bankrolls. The opposite argument is that you want bad, tight players with small bankrolls. Playing in games they can barely afford so they don't take a lot of chances or call your bluffs.

You can more reliably win playing small-ball poker against overly tight players, but I think you maximize profit (and variance) by playing in very loose, very aggressive games with players that THINK they are really good. A little experience is a lot more dangerous in poker than no experience in many cases.

This is the reason all the pros go to the Bellagio, Wynn and Venetian. They go where the fish are, but there's a never ending stream of fish coming into Vegas along with good players tilting from tournament losses that are here to gamble because they are also on vacation.

There's a lot more money to be made at a table full of 5 sharks and 3 spewy fish than there is to be made at a table full of 8 decent, but overall bad players.

I have to agree with Mango Port on this. It can be very frustrating to play against an overly aggressive player who is getting lucky but over time prudent play with beat him. Tight-passive players don't make big pots, loose-calling stations and loose-aggressive players do.

How about bad, loose, passive players with big bankrolls? Ones who will call a huge river bet thinking their top pair might be good, and only play back at you when they have a monster. Easy chips, low variance.

The problem is, the sharks will fight you to keep you away from the fish. I'll take the table of 8 overall bad players.

I think a bigger reason is that the rooms mentioned have a wider variety of games and larger stakes. "Pros" aren't going to waste their time grinding 1/2 NL or 3-6 limit, which are the biggest games many rooms offer.

    Hmmm...

If OP is looking for 1/2 and 1/3 NL, pros aren't on his radar (and he isn't on theirs). TI, Mirage, Harrahs, Flamingo, Ballys, PH should all have those games going that time of night.
I prefer tourney to cash action; but I will say that I would much rather have a looser table in cash...

Weak Loose-Aggressive players are a cocktail for profit. You know who I'm talking about, those guys you can just smell continuation bet on. I would like a room of aggressive players, I just have to careful to differentiate the the ones I can read well to the ones who can deceive well. After about 15 minutes that would be pretty clear. If I'm too inexperienced for the table, "table move chip please!"

Bad players with big bankrolls generally play where they stay, and these people stay at the Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian, Aria,

Sharks don't fight to keep you away from the 'fish', it would be impossible for them to even try.
