By what I read it seems like it'd be a lot easier to stop the people selling bottled water on the pedestrian bridges than the actual nuisances of the neon-shirted porn slappers. Bottled water for $1 on the bridge vs. $5 in the casino probably nudged that along, on top of the first amendment issues.

It's not the slappers that bother me, it's all the other people with the halloween costumes peddling to take a pic with you for money.

I don't miss the strip at all.

ROFL, 'cause you NEVER see any costumed characters downtown panhandling for pics.

Agreed. The slappers are easy enough to navigate around and ignore. The only thing that bugs me is the litter the cards create, but that's other people being too lazy to throw them away after teehee'ing at boobies with censored nipples.

The characters, however, are downright annoying and at times, can be aggressive.

If it weren't for the novelty of drinking while walking down the street (and that never gets old), I'd avoid walking the Strip too much. Especially the south end.

The porn slappers (or "clickers" as I call them because of the sound they make with those cards) are far more annoying than the costumed characters to me.

Whenever you walk past a group of the slappers they are annoyingly aggressive, shoving the cards in people's faces - I can't stand it. I have never been accosted by a costumed character. I have seen them just standing there (or, lately, laying passed out on the Strip with a bottle) but none have ever approached the way those aggressive porn slappers do. They have even shoved the cards into the spokes of wheelchairs passing by. They have to go.

As for the water, I would never buy water or anything edible from some stranger on a walkway. Who knows where it came from (I read something a while back that said some of them were refilling empty plastic bottles with tap water). I do not think it is wise to eat or drink anything that is not purchased from someone who has a valid license to sell food products.

    I like the following:

    - porn slappers

    - $1 bottled water people

    - costumed people

none of these things bugs me in the least. i also dont care how much litter the produce.

Yeah that is what some of them do. Not all, but some.
It's not hard for these guys to put the seal back on and make it appear brand new/unopened. Gross!!

I have found most water vending machines on hotel room levels (normally near the ice machines) only cost $2. You will easily pay double on the casino floor.

The porn slappers need to go. I have always wondered how that is tolerated. The time share assholes need to go as well. As far as the water goes it is hard for me to believe they are selling reused bottles filled with tap water. After all when they sell a bottle it walks away, you don't drink it and hand it back. If they were pulling them out of garbage cans they wouldn't have the caps. Too much trouble. Just go to Walmart buy a bunch of cases and make some money.

I think you misread it. The porn slappers would be effected, just not "singled out".

In other words, they want to get rid of them (and all the other peddlers), but without judging the specific activity, so they don't run into civil rights/censorship claims.

You might not believe it, but according to County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, not only is it true, but they refill the bottles IN THE REST ROOM!! UGH!!! Here is the link:

OK, I believe it now. Luckily, since we live in Phoenix and always drive we bring a case of bottled water, snaks, beer, soda, and other stuff with us. They just need to clean that whole mess up! We have a 4 door Jeep Rubicon so we have plenty of room.

The worst isn't the porn-slappers (just walk right past them as if they don't even exist) or the water-sellers, it's the performers creating bottlenecks on the sidewalks as the out-of-town pedestrians stop to gawk at the goings-on. Happens frequently between Imperial Palace/Harrahs and again around Bally's.

Sometimes you even have to walk into the street just to get around the mess, which is an obvious safety issue.

You should have seen the drunken homer simpson we saw last year, my husband said I can't believe Las Vegas, just allows these goons to do this on the strip, to panhandle money? I couldn't believe the money they take in! up to like $200 a day, if you work like 4 days a week, that's $800.00 a week tax free, in one month that's like $3.200 a month!! it ticks me off to think these people make more than say the average hard working souls of say the retail industry. I feel Las Vegas is letting things get out of hand, I remember this one porn slapper being very aggressive about his "awesome job", I picked up a porn card from the ground and started slapping it around like he did, his eyes became huge, gawd it ticked me off people thought it was funny, but let me tell you at the time I was heated! this couple had just rolled they're stroller right over my foot, hurt like you know what, how did this happen, because they were taking pictures of something, rather than paying attention to what the hell they were doing!

Scorcho has it exactly right. It's like people have never seen Spongebob or a Transformer before. Move along folks, nothing to see here.

Well, I wouldn't know because I don't frequent downtown. I am an outlying person who prefers the O, RR, Silverton, SP, Suncoast, etc. I haven't seen the "characters" at any of those properties.
