Unfortunately, coming from London, BA flight does not get in until 6.45pm - which equates to 8pm hotel check in after clearing immigration etc.

Could fly Virgin Atlantic and arrive early afternoon, but I'd rather not!

There will be an extra BA flight starting later this year which will arrive much earlier.

Unless price or some other difficulty arises, we prefer the first non-stop of the day out of PHL.

Last week we took US Airways Flt 435 at 7:50am and arrived earlier than scheduled in LAS at 9:40am. Got our bags, car, stopped at Walmart for supplies and checked in around 11:30am for a complete fun filled day.

I've always arrived very early (7AM-8AM) except for my last trip, which I arrived at 9:30 PM. I actually will say that I liked arriving later better, because I was more in the mood to party at that time. Arriving as early as I did wore me out and I ended up taking a nap later in the evening and not catching up for that day. So what I do now is pick the days I'm going to be there, and then plan to leave the night before. So if I want to be there Thurs - Sun, I'll arrive Wed night.

I fly from New York and always take an early flight (departing anywhere from 7am to 8am). Actually the flight I always take is the one that the Jet Blue pilot went cuckoo on...but that's another story.

The benefits of taking the earliest flight are:

    1. You have a full day in Vegas. I arrive at about 10am usually and that is a full first day in town. If you arrive at 10pm, you still have to pay for that whole day to check in. You essentially pay for a full first day and only get the last couple of hours of it.

    2. If there are any flight delays, the earlier flights are the ones that get out first. Once, a couple of years ago, remnants of a hurricane were heading for New York and I was a bit nervous at the airport because the fog was so thick you couldn't see a thing. The plane took off on time and once I was airborne (and above the dark clouds) I saw on the Jet Blue tv screen that no more flights were being allowed in or out of New York airports.

Just yesterday we delayed our Vegas trip 1 week because we could get a flight out and land in Vegas by 10am instead of 6pm.......and we saved $20 total for our next flight with SWA......first time we ever changed our flights and it was EASY with SWA........

I hate waking up early, but I hate red-eye flights even more.

I love the early flight from Pittsburgh that normally means 8:20 am nonstop service and that changes to 6:20 am in the fall. The thing that I like about an early arrival is if the hotel has a room ready then that gives me all that day to get things in order like buying liquor, food and snacks and settling in for the 7 days we normally stay. As for return flight they moved the nonstop to Pittsburgh from 8:35 am to 10:10 AM, which now gives us a little extra time in the morning for breakfast and not be rushed to get to the airport.

In my opinion, there is only one way to go from Tampa. SWA has an early morning nonstop flight, usually 7-730, which puts us in Vegas around 830am. What we lose in sleep the night before, we make up by having the entire day ahead of us in Vegas. Especially nice on a Sunday...get in, check into hotel, and enjoy a relaxing champagne brunch. Pretty much all the other flights from here have stops or changes, layovers, etc. Example, one person I know was looking at a flight that took them to Minneapolis, two hour layover, and got them into Vegas after 10pm. Sure, they would save a few bucks over me, but they would spend around 10 hrs traveling, and by the time they check-in, the first day is shot.

I'm coming from NY and I only will take non-stop. It's about 5+ hours. The early and late flights are the best priced flights. I've done late and early trips. The problem I have with late is that you pretty much miss everything. When I mean late - I'm saying arriving after 10 - 11PM. Not all casinos have good restaurants open late which means you have have what they've got or have something planned.
The early trips usually leave me more tired because when I have a an early flight I don't sleep well, plus I have trouble sleeping on planes. But I'd like early better because you have the whole day to do what you want. . I've come in at 9:30AM and gotten a room that was ready. Other times I've waited a couple hours for the room to get ready which doesn't bother me. I go for something to eat and relax. I have less energy but still but still have more time to recover and do whatever I want.

Coming from Mass it is a long flight for us and we also like to take the 6/7 am flights. It takes us 90 minutes to drive to the airport. We now start our vacation the night before. We leave the house at 4 pm and check into a hotel at the airport. Go have supper, watch a little tv. We prefer Manchester NH and stay at the Homewood Suites. 4 minutes from hotel driveway to airport parking garage. Sure we spend an extra $100 but well worth it to be at the airport for 5 am. Much more relaxing for us that way.

I have thought about that, but a hotel in Detroit costs me more than a hotel in Vegas, so to me I'd just fly out the night before and spend the extra night. Even if you just crash when you arrive it works better for me. Waking up to fly is good. Waking up in vegas is sweet.

Now if my offers are ever just right, I might manage a trip where I can stay over at Caesar's Windsor the night before and then fly out of Detroit.
