Does anyone know how early you can check-in at MGM Grand and not be charged the early check-in fee?

We booked one night of our trip at MGM just to use their pool facilities. Just wondering if we can show up at 11:00 and check-in to get as much time as we can at the pool.

Don't know about any early check-in fee.

I've gotten there as early as 10:30 AM and if they don't have a room for me (usually don't) I just check the bags in as well and they'll call me when my room is ready.

Yeah, just drop your bags, and head to the pool if it's not ready. I have done that before at The Mirage and Paris.

we checked in last year about 3 hours before check in time, we were sent a text within 45 minutes telling us our room was ready, no early check-in fee. I feel it's a hit and a miss with checking in early, it's like the $20 trick, just ask you never know, you have the option I guess with that trick oops I mean bribe...lol as well.

How do you get in the pool without a key? They check keys at the MGM pool.

Thanks Shifter! That is what I was wondering ... how do you get into the pool without keys. Also regarding the early check in fee, when we booked the room there was an option for early check-in or late check-out. They were $20 each.

I guess we'll just show up and see how it goes! LOL

We've usually been given our keys if a room isn't ready but we don't know what the room number is until they call, so I'm guessing you would have a key to show at the pool.

That is what happened to me in May. They gave me a key and told me the room number when they called and told me room was ready. They do scan the key at the pool, so if room is not ready, I don't know if it has been activated and what it shows when scanned.

Are you sure they scan the key at the pool? I always remember them just holding up the key and walking. Actually I never came to a complete stop, just kept walking.

I too checked in early one year and was given a key with a phone number. The room was ready in less than 30 minutes.

When I was at MGM last September, they were scanning the keys.

Wow. Must be new. I was at Mandalay Bay last Sep. It's been two years since MGM for me.

FWIW Mandalay Bay wasn't scanning cards last Sep. Lets see what happens this year when I go.

yes MGM has these little "doors" that you stick your key in and it makes sure it's active before they let you in. however, if you have a Skylofts or Mansion key, they don't scan those.

I apologize I should have read more carefully about the pool. Very true about keys being checked.
