Older couple, have been to vegas many times, but never in Sept/Oct. The cheapest flights are the third week of Sept and the second week of October. I hate extreme heat, hubby wants to go when he can still wear shorts. Any advise on this?

Third week of September versus the second week of October... though it is likely to be cooler in October (you never know with the weather) either way you won't notice too much of a difference.

We went for Halloween last year and the temperature was good while we were there: nice and hot during the day, but not too hot, and at night it cooled down to where you could go out with a jacket or not and either way you would probably be comfortable.

I also went for halloween a couple years ago and the weather was perfect. Could walk around fine anytime of the day and not be too hot or cold really. Actually made the trek from Stratosphere to MGM Grand around 2am.

I say third or fourth week of October. Weather is absolutely gorgeous, and crab season (king and stone) is only a week or two old which means they are sooooo fresh....

Fall is my favorite season, so for me, October is the absolute best time to go to Vegas. Actually, with the possible exception of falling water temperatures (if you're into swimming or scuba diving), October is the best time to go nearly anywhere in the northern hemisphere! I can't remember the last time I wasn't in Vegas during Halloween.

We picked the second week in sept because it's not unbearably hot but still warm pool weather.

Best Time of Year to go To Vegas

We don't use pool, I guess either would work, Thanks for the replies.
I like to walk alot on the strip and just hate the heat of August like last year. I think eihter would work for us though. I am guessing 95 is like 80 in the south central states with humidity?

If you just want to walk the strip October is probably better.

From late October to April. I like it when it is chilly like in the 50s/60s. Plus there aren't so many people.

Thanks for all the opinions and reasons why! He wants to wear shorts and go when its still warm, I hate heat, so we compromised with sept 28-Oct 4th. Hope we made a good decision!

I'll be there Sept 29 to Oct 3, so I hope you made a good decision, too.

I was in Vegas in July (exactly once). I now go the first week in May and late-Sept/early-Oct. We went the weekend after Labor Day one year, and it was over 100 on three of the four days. We also went in early-November one year and it was pretty chilly a couple of days.

I agree with JillyfromPhilly - the last couple of years I have gone the last week of April and in 2011 it was very windy but the temps were in the 70s and 80s during the day (still shorts weather but the wind made me take along a hoodie just in case) and at night it did dip in the 50's and was a bit chilly. This past April it was gorgeous - around 90 each day and cooler, into the 60's at night....the perfect weather. The only drawback is that the Strip is much more crowded at the end of April/beginning of May than when I go in the summer because of the mild temps.

I once went at the end of September and the weather was comparable to the April weather I experienced. Pure perfection.

Anytime you can get good air fare prices, free rooms and have an adequate bankroll is the best time to go.

I am from MN, so I like going when Vegas is nice and tolerable, and to be blunt- Minnesota sucks (winter). Last years trip it was -20 when my plane took off from MSP at 7 am, picked up the rental car and temp on dash said 75. Nice 90 degree swing in 3 hours.

3rd week of September has ridiculous hotel prices right now! Flights are cheap but hope you have comped rooms, atleast if you are staying at a CET prop. Praying for a comp to pop up since my calendar is not being too friendly right now.
