I just found out Harrahs Cherokee has video craps of some sort and was thinking of checking it out. Has anyone here ever been/played? If so how was it and what were min bets?

Pretty much the same as playing an online similator except they have like 6 seats. Oh and Cherokee just spent many millions on renovations so they rake you over the coals there.

So does it use a rng or how is the roll determined? If it is legit I don't see how the odds could be different than regular craps, you would just get a lot more rolls per hour. Anyone know about this? I'm in Atlanta and was thinking about taking a day trip up sometime.

I have not been there, but they rolled out a new variation at Flamingo when I was their last month. Electronic Craps. 6 seats, with video screen, and big pair of dice. Game moved pretty quick with lots of 7's and outs.

I managed to rack up a couple of hundred betting Hop bets on the 7's
    (3/4 5/2 6/1) making $80 per roll it hit.

Not as exciting at being at a real table, but lots of newbies play, and not as intimidating for new rollers if they don't know how to bet. On the flip side did not see a roll that lasted longer then 3 points being made.

Thanks everyone, sounds like I'll spend the extra 2 hours and head to Biloxi for some real dice.

It's probably a good choice. The Harrahs Cherokee is there for one reason and one reason only, to support the Cherokee tribe. The NC laws forbid most reasonably games so even the slot machines are strange, not to mention so tight they squeak. The blackjack tables are video blackjack with a dealer standing there to press the "hit" or "stand" button.

    No thanks.

It's nice they actually got the craps game in, but I still dont plan on making a trip there. If they had actual tables I would possibly consider it more.

Until then I will stick to Tunica and Metropolis.

If I am nearby, however, I probably would drop in to play the craps game a bit. I heard about it being at a few places in Vegas and it sounds like more are getting it. I prefer the real tables for sure, but if I ever play this automated one I will be doing like Funkhouser did and play the 7s. There's no skill involved on this machine so the 7s will win out, no doubt!

Harrahs Cherokee to offer live table games

This has been in the works for many years, especially the live poker part. I know a lot of people who will head over the mountain to play poker (legally.)

But here was something I thought was the most interesting...

That is very interesting. Although I don't care for Cherokee my DH goes there once in a while and this will attract a whole different group of gamblers (obviously). I have followed the development of this casino with interest since DH worked for a computer system company who helped them develop a very primitive player tracking system back in the day well before Harrah's came along. Then they just had a large prefabricated building with nothing but video poker machines in it (circa 1993) and before that just a bingo hall. It's amazing how they grew from that to the huge operation they have now.

I hope to see craps there soon then. I dunno if their pact with the state will allow it or not.

Actually, the slots there are pretty normal. They used to be strange until about 5 or 6 years ago when they started the raffle drawings. They all gave you 2 spins. After the first one, you held or locked the reels and got a second spin. It's similar to holding cards in video poker. But now, 95% of the slots are the same ones you see in Vegas or Biloxi. There's only a few of the lock'n'roll spinners left. I agree with the payouts though. It's a few points lower than most gaming markets.

Maybe once they get that squared away, I might give it a shot. I live in Durham, which is essentially the farthest you can be in the US from a casino....:grrr:

But is *is* close to decent beer:beer: I have never been to Cherokee and don't plan to ever visit there to gamble. Anytime I've gambled somewhere other than Vegas, I've been unhappy with the experience.:peace:

I have trouble trusting a shuffle machine in blackjack at Vegas, much less a video craps game in NC.

That being said, there is absolutely nowhere near Atlanta that has legit gambling. That is what they take advantage of. Biloxi is the closest and it is a 2 hour flight away.

That link no longer goes to the story but from what I can see, craps will be available.

While vacationing in the mountains of ga last Sept I noticed Cherokee was about a 45 min drive away on mtn roads. I was tempted to Try and I half assed attempted to convince my wife to go but I knew the only-slots establishment would just piss us off so we didn't go.

Now, though, it is sounding quite nice.

So after July 1 they will have this all set up? How can they do it so fast?

They have been working on this for years...I'd imagine they have tables in storage just waiting to be moved out to the casino floor at a moments notice.

Now that this is a reality I may go there. My wife's grandparents go every few months and seem to have a good time.
