I've stayed at the Orleans many, many times, nice prop. Any deals they have going on are always listed on their website www.orleanscasino.com.

I've also read many trip reports and have not heard of anyone getting upgraded to a suite for free. My understanding is they don't have many of them, and you usually can't even reserve one on the website. I usually get upgraded to a strip view for asking.

If you page down twice on this forum, you will see a thread called $20 trick at the Orleans, this is discussed at length there.

even the regular rooms at orleans are pretty nice.

comfy bed, coffee maker, small sitting area with a couch and a great shower with a window in the shower that opens.

Have a great time. The orleans is one of the best off-strip properties that is close enough to the strip to also enjoy the strip. Try the 99ยข Margaritas Madness served 3pm-5pm in the Cantina Bar.

My other tip would be, make sure you ask for comps while you are there. This is one place where you don't need to be a high-roller to get treated well.

I stayed there once and really enjoyed the place. I am going back in July and am using the 2 free nights offer they sent me. I will be staying at the Orleans more often on my trips to Las Vegas.

I will be at the Orleans June 18-22 and Aug 1-6. They have some of the larger "regular" rooms of any Vegas hotels. I'm also using my 2 free day deals in August. They offer a free shuttle to the strip, good buffet (French Market).
If its your first time ask for a strip view...
The Orleans is me and my wife's choice of hotel when in Vegas!

I stayed at the Orleans my last six or seven trips. I really like the Boyd properties because (so far) they've always let me check in early (8-10am) if a room was available.

Never asked for an upgrade, but I think their standard rooms are really nice at the Orleans.

For a change of pace, I'm staying at the Gold Coast this time (I leave tomorrow woo-hoo!) so I'll see how that goes as I paid a smidge extra for their premium (premier?) room. Anyway, it's remodeled!

It is a great place. figure out houw much you save staying there (especially with free night offers) and put into the cab fare after-hours if you must to off-set staying on the strip (if that is what you miss)....You pay to stay on the strip.....you don't at Orleans...use the difference to visit.. see how that goes....good luck
