Host gift?

I'm just looking for ideas on what kinds of host gifts people give?

 

Been at least one thread about this subject in the past and I believe the consensus was gift cards are the best way to go

 

I sent an Edible Arrangement to mine, which she got to share with other hosts and staff.
It brightens anyone's day, it's healthy, and provides a nice snacking thing throughout the day.

Plus, it's delivered in a small vase, bowl or container, which they can also keep and use

It's different, unusual and makes you stand out with your host as well as all the other staff

Turn the tables on him and have room service deliver a bottle of wine and a cheese plate to his office on a rolling table!

I like the idea, but make sure they're not lactose intolerant or AA.

 

I take my hosts out to eat all the time. They pick up the bill but it's nice for them to get to relax on the clock and the company dime. And I always make sure they get a really nice cocktail or glass of wine not the cheap stuff. Might as well the casino is paying for it!

 

I WOULDN'T DO THIS! It could get him in trouble. Its one thing to add him onto your tab (which he doesn't need anyway b/c they comp themsleves meals everyday, whether with or without customers and they always say with).

 

Another good idea is to take your host out to eat at a property not owned by the casino he works for. It will make it more special. And, depending on your budget, give him/her a few hundred to gamble with while you are off property with him/her. They will remember it when its time to settle your bill up.

Host Gift

I read previous threads on gifts for Hosts and decided it would be a nice gesture to buy something for her. I decided on a 100 dollar gift card to crystals. My bankroll for this trip was 1600. Is this insulting such a small gift>

 

I usually go with a gift card for my hosts over cash anymore.

$100 should be more than adequate for your level of play.

I usually do $100 a day or so, but I have a subtantially larger bankroll - I wouldn't give more than that unless they really go out of their way to do something special or fill a special request for you.

 

I think $100 is more than adequate and I really think a host gift is more about the gesture than the actual gift.
Consider all the people who come to them daily, 365 days a year, and likely never do anything.
So a gesture like that will be well received, I'm sure

 

Very timely thread for me... Our host at Encore always takes care of the room for our week long stays. I've done the math and she is very fairly comping us for our level of play. We always pay our own food.

This trip I asked her if there were any Garth tickets available as he is playing the night of the day we arrive. I just wanted to know if there were any tickets left but she called me back and said you're all set and I'm taking care of them for you.

I'd like to get her something but had no idea what as I have been told before that "tipping cash" is not allowed. So do you buy a gift card like for a restaurant or??

The host spends maybe 20 minutes getting room and deal set up for you. They are also paid a salary and some type of bonus based on your "donations" to the casino.

NONE of the free rooms,meals, tickets come out of the host's pocket.

Not saying you do not, or should not give something to the host, but it is surely not required to "bribe" them.

 

I usually try to go with an AMEX or Visa gift card that they can spend anywhere - or one that's for a shopping mall near the property they work at [i.e. Crystals for Aria host, Fashion Show Mall for Wynn host, Palazzo shops for a Palazzo host, etc.] figuring it's probably a convenient place for them to shop.

I usually put it inside a thank you card inside a sealed envelope that I try to hand to them directly on the last night or day of my stay.

 

Each to their own, but personally I don't give hosts gifts.

I can understand a High Roller who has more interaction with their host doing it.

 

$100 gift card on that budget is overboard. if you had just spent $20 on some token of appreciation, that would have been plenty. i only spend $100-200 on host gifts unless i have a big winning trip, but i don't do cash, always some thoughtfelt item.

 

One thing I have been told is if you live in an area famous for something in particular, well known or not, it can be a nice gift to bring some of that or a token gift from there.

Example, here in Central Florida we have a local chocolatier called "Grimaldi's" that is famous for their chocolate covered potato chips (don't knock it til you try it), I was thinking of bringing a box on my upcoming trip for my host.

I think the thought is as important as the price
