We will be in Vegas the week of June 18th. Obviously it will be hot, is there any need for a light jacket at night? Any suggestions on clothing?
It gets chilly in many of the casinos and some machines have the AC blowing directly on them so I always keep a light jacket with me - even on our August trips. Hope you have a great trip!!
We usually go in July when the temperature is triple digits and carry a jacket. Usually after dinner when we plan to stay in our home casino and gamble for the night we change into pants and still carry a jacket. They keep the casinos very cool.
i'm going in july and other than golf clothes i will bring nothing but jeans and long dress pants. during the day i'll wear a t-shirt or light long sleeve shirt and at night a dress shirt and jacket. the temperature outside means nothing when you're inside the casino.
It can be hot as balls outside, yet a freezer in many casinos. Even in summer or warm forecasts, I still bring a light zippered hoodie. Keeps you warm in casinos, but you can unzip and leave open to cool off if walking outside
Overall I'd say no. Unless you're planning on spending time outdoors in the early morning. But as the people above say, it can get chilly in casinos. If you get chilled easily, think about it.
Cold in hotel room from air conditioner I like to keep my hotel room cold and sometimes I put on my sweat top that has a hood to keep my head warm while I sleep. I always have to have the cold air on in my hotel room. Sometimes the airplane can also get cold because I like to keep the cool air on while flying. Vegas is a hot outside and a cold inside place so I like to be prepared.lol. One evening I was all dressed up with a warm shawl walking towards a hotel that has a piano bar and was planning to spend the evening there. It was still very hot outside. A man yelled at me that it was too hot to be carrying a wrap to keep me warm. I yelled back, "I am a desert rat"....as I covered my head with my blue wrap on top of my head to protect me from the hot sun. lol. LucyR.
I always have a light cardigan or hoodie with me. I find the show rooms to be the coldest. Depending on where you are in the casino you can get frozen also. I tie it around my waist when walking outside in the 100 degree heat.
It is funny to think you need a jacket when it is going to average close to 100 during the day, and no lower than the mid seventies at night. But yeah, the casinos are like freezers, so a jacket might be necessary.
I have a very light windbreaker that packs well, guess I'll bring it. My wife freezes when it's 70 degrees here in NY. She'll definitely need a hoody.
It depends on personal preference. If you can handle casino air conditioning temps in light clothing, you don't need more in June. It will not be cold at night. But as you see, some people on here don't like shorts or short sleeves in the casino itself. Myself, I've never felt too cold in shorts in a casino.
We're flying out in a week, and I laughed at my BF when he mentioned bringing pants to wear in the evening. With so many trips under my belt, you'd think I'd remember the meat locker temps in the casinos. :evillaugh
I always bring a hoodie no matter what because my philosophy is "better to have it and not need it, than to not have it and wish you had brought it". Some restaurants/casinos/showrooms can be frigid, but so can the plane, as Lucy mentioned, no matter what time of the year.
The very fact that you asked tells me you should bring one... I'm a big guy and always warm and in August, I couldn't imagine wearing a jacket, but I know I'm not like most.
You do not need a jacket, I guess if you bring a steamer trunk with you, I'd bring one, lacking that no way.
For me, it seems like the hotter it is outside, the more you need a sweater inside. I was there in March when it wasn't that hot outside and I found the casinos very comfortable without a sweater - I suppose because the air conditioning wasn't blasting.
Totally agree!! I work in an office and my husband does a lot of work outside or in a (mostly) un-air-conditioned shop. He could keep his office air conditioned but he doesn't because the temp differences are too much for him - he'd rather adjust to the heat and deal with it. As a compromise, we keep our summer a/c temp at home much warmer than many people we know (we turn it down when my mom comes to visit) If you're acclimated to the heat, the 70 or whatever they keep the casinos cooled to feels like a meat locker. Love that image - thank you! I always travel with a light jacket or sweater, Vegas or wherever - because in most places, there will be a/c and layering is my favorite approach to dealing with varying temps AND packing light
