I assume CET = Ceasars, right?

In Atlantic City there are three Ceasars properties on the ocean. They are Ceasars, Showboat and Ballys. There is also a property called Harrahs which is in the Marina district. It overlooks the inlet and the bay so there are water views, but there really is no beach there to hang out on.

Actually the three ocean properties open onto the boardwalk which is along the ocean. SO you walk across about a 50 foot wide boardwalk and walk over the dunes to get to the beach. Many of the hotels along the Oocean have ocean side bars and open air nightclubs. Pretty cool.

Hmmm... Maybe there is something to that. I stayed at the castle on my first two trips. I liked it there, but those were the only losing trips out of the six I have made.

ROFLMAO having been to AC and Vegas give me the choice and it's a no brainer, Vegas wins without a game even. AC and the Ocean is not a pretty memory, damn sure not Cali or Fla ocean, hell not even as good as the Gulf is, it's smelly, plenty of insects, vast array of Dbags(more than any Vegas club I have been to), and you cant even surf unless you like to be a ripple rider. Then let's add in that while Vegas is hot but not humid as hell and how can one even compare weather conditions between the two, summer in AC is very reminiscent ;) of Louisiana in the summer but without the good times of NOLA. Yeah AC is better than Vegas, if your from NYC or other Eastern City and think thats the best thing in the world. I could go on but why?

The worst of Vegas outshines the best of AC. Also the trashy castle was your first mistake.......but it was a interesting TR.

Thanks for posting your TR, Gomar. :)

While Las Vegas offers a wide variety of hotels and activities, I'm glad it isn't for everyone. Can you imagine how crowded it would be if everyone decided to go to Las Vegas as frequently as some of us do?

    Cheers!

Since I'm not doing a good enough job at keeping my mouth shut, before we leave for Vegas in a couple of weeks! I'll just continue on!

    1) in A you said you didn't venture off the strip
    2) in B you said you went downtown? so you did venture off the strip??? which is it, you did or didn't venture off the strip, since downtown is off strip! JMO anyway!
    3) I love love love all the fakery, for us who can't get to see the 1st best thing "Original" well the fakery and especially in Vegas does wonders for me in more ways than you can imagine! at least I don't need my menopausal Estroven pills while I'm there! unless some asshole provokes me
    4) and since you aren't impressed why post on a Vegas board?

My apologies for not being able to keep my mouth shut!

It sounds like everything about it upset you. Or maybe everything upsets you..... I'm still trying to find out the point of this post?

You come off very high strung, but then mention that you stayed at the Excalibur, not trying to stir up anything, but what gives?

It's not "fakery." It's an homage.

And anything is prettier than New Jersey. :wink2:

it always amazes and shocks me when i hear about people who aren't in love with vegas as much as i am . i'm getting married in vegas next year, and majority of my friends and family haven't been there. it never occurred to me that they may not like it! i hope i'm not dragging them to a place they won't find enjoyable

but i definitely don't think you should not express your opinion on this message board as some people have hinted at. where else would you put a post about vegas???? so while i just can't understand your lack of enthusiasm for vegas, i can at least respect your opinion.

hopefully you get a chance to go back and maybe give it one more shot (at a better hotel)

Vegas is a great many things

Cloudi63 is quickly becoming one of my favorite posters. You tell 'em girl.

As for Gomar, I think it is interesting that the poster rips on lots of stuff, but still mentions that, with a good rate and good weather he would go back. So it couldn't have been all that bad.

I respect others opinions and this post is just that. The OPs opinion and how they perceive things in their own eyes and their tastes.

Vegas can be done in so many different ways. I think if you go about it on your own and its your first time, theres a lot to miss and not see. As a vegas veteran, I dont even think I've seen it all. Do I choose to? Not anymore. I've seen all angles of Vegas and I choose to do what is fun and exciting for me.

Maybe the OP will come back and do it a different way and experience new things that they end up enjoying and liking Vegas in their own way.

Its like downtown. Some people love it, some care for it, some hate it. I do visit it once every 2-3 months, which is about every other time I'm in town. It doesnt really do much for me. I think its boring but I do visit a couple places just to change things up every so often.

Personally I've had my own Vegas revival the last couple years. I used to do the same ol thing and visit the same places. I got into the whole Steakhouse thing so thats been my goal to visit at least 1 every trip. So now I have something new to look forward to every time I'm in town. I've also just started doing the nightlife again so its been like a new Vegas for me lately.

I hope the OP gets to try other things they didnt get to do next trip out. I personally think its hard to hate Vegas. People just need to be exposed to something they like, but with so many things in town, its hard to get to know them all. Especially when its your first time or first few times visiting Vegas.

I can reciprocate and appreciate one another's opinions, however when "one" will say

    1) I didn't venture or go off strip and than on #2 says in letter b
    b) I went downtown, either you ventured off strip or you didn't, which is it?

and than to say "I've seen them or it on tv" well I'll tell you from personal experience I've seen Celine twice both times in Vegas and Elton once in Vegas and IMO to compare seeing it on TV and IRL is a totally different experience

oh I'm sorry these are just my opinions.

Macdaddy21 I'm glad someone does on here : ) I guess you can call me a "die hard vegas lover" now if only I can or could get my husband to enjoy gambling like I do...lol

youre right about the TV comparison. Just because you've seen them on TV doesnt mean its the same live.

Also just because you're from NY or been to Italy or Paris, doesnt mean you shouldnt walk into those hotels. They are "themes" not a replacement of the real thing.

Thats like saying I've seen the Pyramids in Egypt and I dont need to see Luxor. Dude, one is a Casino and the other is one of the wonders of the world. LOL.
That logic is pretty dumb and funny actually when you think of it.

Gomar is entitled to his opinion. There are people who can't stand Vegas for various reasons, but I happen to love the place. But, as a lifelong New Yorker who has also visited Atlantic City, I can't understand how anyone could ever prefer Atlantic City to Vegas. AC is a dirty, depressing place. The beach is grimy and there is no way I would set foot on the sand, much less put myself in that water. The hotels all look like slightly modified mental institutions (except for the newer ones like The Borgata). And once you step off the Boardwalk into the streets, all bets are off - literally.

There is no comparison to Vegas when it comes to weather, value and options for dining and entertainment - AC simply cannot hold a candle to Vegas. Most of the time it is actually cheaper to fly to Vegas and stay at a hotel there than pay some of the insane rates that AC hotels charge for a few nights. I do go to AC on occasion because it is easy to get to from NY and it is a fast getaway but I usually stay in the vicinity of The Borgata/Harrahs and rarely venture to the seedy Boardwalk district.

P.S. - Being from NY never stopped me from going into NYNY in Vegas - in fact, before they "de-themed" the inside I thought it was hilarious that they had gaming in their faux version of Central Park. I always thought it was very realistic because you could get "mugged" by the casino just like you could in the real Central Park!

I dont get what that means. Are you saying seeing fake knock offs of famous city architecture or landmarks makes you appreciate the real thing more? It's not homage, it's fakery. I sure hope noone goes to Vegas to look at NYNY, and thinks they've been to NYC, or there is no reason to now go since you've seen a fake Statue of Liberty.

BTW, is a fake say Mucci purse homage to Gucci? Or a Rovado watch made in China homage to Movado?

    No you're talking about counterfeits.

It's more like a Frank Marino, no one thinks he's a woman nevermind Joan Rivers or whoever but he does a great job impersonating women and entertaining an audience. It's more comfortable for folks to recognise the person, place or thing that is being caricatured. Vegas architecture is no different.
