My Trip Report

This is going to be an interesting trip for me. It's a 4 night trip and I've booked 5 different hotels!

1. Circus Circus
2. Plaza
3. El Cortez
4. D Las Vegas
5. Vegas Club

Check out my itinerary: https://www.kayak.com/trips/BVSih0

Goals for the trip:
1. Use as many ACG coupons as I can
2. Eat and drink for as little as I can
3. Try to reach Sapphire with Bconnected and earn a free buffet at the gold coast
4. Visit the Opera House and live to talk about it
5. Stay up late enough to enjoy the OX tail soup at the California

I might do a live trip report if I find any time. :faint:

May 30

Touched down at around 9:30 and got into my room at around 10:30 here at circus circus. Cabbie didn't long haul me and the fare came to $17 soI tipped an extra 8 bucks for the stress free ride. However, he asked if I wanted to be dropped off in the front parquesur on lv blv and I said yes thinking it was close to the hotel lobby.... NOOOoo. Could had been in the room 7 minutes earlier if I was dropped off in the back. Too cheap to do the $20 trick... I flirted with the hotel clerk instead and that got me onto the 29 floor in the skyview tower. She said she got me a "strip view" and then winked. Pffftt.. but when I got up there, all I can see is Tump, Rio, Palms, and a sliver of TI. That tower is way in the back, and closer to all the kids stuff.

The hotel clerks slipped me a 2-for-1 coupon to Rockin' Rita's and I also got a coupon book full of match plays and free admission to the dome.

I headed over to Rockin' Rita to get my night started and ordered two damn tasty Margaritas for $6.75 + Tip. I looked down to check out the pay tables of the VP machine when I spotted flying bottles out of the corner of my eye... it was a flare bar!

Here is some video I took after I realized what was going on.

Used the match play and won! Now i'm up $10. I then used that to bank roll this deal where you can buy $15 dollars worth of house chips for $10. Went to a BJ table full of college aged kids and only won one hand out of 4. So now I'm only up $5. The last coupon was for a $5 pitcher of beer at slots of fun. When I got over there, it was dead! I think I was the only one there. Ordered the pitcher and it came to $5 even. This thing was huge! He asked if I wanted glass or plastic. Thinking ahead, I said plastic so that I can take the last drink with me when I head over to the Riv.

I won $60 at Slot-o-Fun on VP and Ghostbusters. I think security thought I was crazy because I was hooting and hollering in this empty casino at the Ghostbuster slot :ssst:

Headed over the Riv to use the match play from the ACG, but I forgot to take them. So I said screw it and went to McDonalds to start my preventative maintenance so that I don't wake up with a hangover.

Now its around 3am and I stumbled back to my room a million miles and passed out.

PLEASE do a very detailed and honest report for us. I'm really interested in the Opera House, Plaza, Club and how you use the coupons. I always wanted to visit the "dingy" places cause I hear they have some of the "older" machines--even some that don't have the tito!! I love to hear the clang of coins dropping! Someone said that the aztec has these?? Anywhere else?

Owners of Golden Gate Purchased Fitzgeralds and renamed it the "D".

Yeah, I listed the D twice. I think I was confused by the name. I booked two hotels on day bay accident. Now I have to choose between the Vegas Club and the D. I think I just won't check into the Vegas Club. That place is a hole... even by my standards.

Follow me on twitter where I'll be live twitting my trip!

Ya know, Circus Circus doesn't look too bad from your pics and description. Still won't go there though, but enjoying the TR!

I haven't been to CC in 10+ years but I heard they have a Galaga machine in the arcade so I'm wearing my Galaga shirt on Saturday and finding that machine so I can put in my initials. Yes, i will be getting the high score.

Sorry to hi-jack but...

Check out "insert coins" downtown - they have a ton of old stand-up arcade games.

Awesome, thanks guys!

My Galaga shirt says something like 'for a good time, insert coin' so that's sounds like the perfect place to wear it. Never heard of it before but it cant be hard to find i assume. I go dt all the time but somehow missed that place. My brother and i will love it.

The next morning I woke up at around 10am and went to check out the Circus Circus breakfast buffet. The food was bad! I dunno if it was my taste buds being numb but I couldn't taste the bacon or suages. Those two things you can never go wrong with at a buffet. The omlete station had a long line so I opted for these premade ones. It was like eating a sponge. Terribles chamgpaine brunch is like 10 bucks and is way better than this one. You have to serve yourself drinks which I found convient but also a pain. Found myself getting up and down a lot. But at least you don't have to wait for your drinks
[IMG]

Then I went to check out the Chuck Jones Experience. Wasn't really anything. Just a bunch of some of this artwork for sale and a gift shop
[IMG]

I don't like the idea of a resort fee, but the one at Circus Circus was worth it just for the rides. So I went on the roller-coaster and other one that shot you up vertically in the air. You also get 2 free midway games. I won a small stuff animal. I suggest playing the ones designed for younger childern as they are easier to win at. It's not hard throwing a ping pong ball into a small bowl.
[IMG][IMG]

I rented a car for 4 days with Alamo. Came to $79 taxes and fees all in. One day longer, they would charge the weekly rate and it would had been over $200. So now I check out of Circus Circus and catch the Duce down to connect with the other bus that takes you to the South Premium Outlet mall. From there, it's a 10 walk in 40° temps to the McCarren car rental center. I picked up this sweet Fiat and I new would impress the budget minded girls. That thing was amazing on gas... 1 buck or 2 a day on gas.
[IMG][IMG]

Then I checked into my room at the Plaza. It's pretty sweet. But the bathroom setup was awkward and you can still tell where they cut corners. But for $35/night... I'm not complaining!

I went downstairs and checked out the new pizza place called Pop Up Pizza in the Plaza. The pizza menu was interesting and unique, but the sauce on the pizza was weak. Crust was good but the serving size for the price was a problem. $3.50 for a slice. If you get two slices, you're looking at close to $8 with tax. Back in Vancouver, you can get great slice of pizza for $2 and this place is packed and the pizza is good. Probably won't be a regular place to stop at while i'm in Vegas. If you want a quick bite to eat it's a good option, although, I'll be going to subway or McDonalds as this pizza didn't really impress me. Give me value and great pizza sauce and I'll be coming back.

Next I went to play the only bingo downtown at Plaza. Went down to the bar before first to grab two domestics for $4 and got ready for Bingo. The electronic bingo is a breeze, because you don't have to keep track of numbers and it will beep when you do win. It costs a bit more than using dabbers but I like it over paper. Plus, it's also a good time for me to reply to work emails on my phone. I hate coming back to work with hundreds of emails to write back to.

After bingo, I went a round and took some pictures for my upcoming website and the headed over to Main Street Station for their much beloved buffet. It was excellent! The variety was good and the quality was good. It was their Steak and Shrimp Scampi night so it was $15. I wasn't a bconnected member yet so I had to pay $1 more. I was saving myself to sign up at the Gold Coast where you get more promotional bonuses for New Member Signups using the coupons in the ACG.
[IMG][IMG][IMG]

I think after dinner I played craps at the California. I lost $200 over 3 hours, but fun nevertheless. It wasn't quite 11pm yet so I went upstairs to the icecream place and got an Iced Chai Tea. It was really good. Walked around for a bit and then got inline for the OX tail soup. Its like my mom's OX tail Pho but with a hint of a tomato base. It's served with rice, ginger, and cilantro on the side. What I did was trip all the tender meat off the bone and left it in the soup. Then I put in the rice and garnished it with the cilantro. It was good, but a big pricey at $10/bowl.
[IMG][IMG]

I'll finish off my TR in next couple days. But 'till then read my live Vegas tweets
