I haven't seen any comments about happenings outside the old Lady Luck! Hope it hasn't fizzled out again! Maybe they'll open up and take all the people that El Cortez doesn't seem to want anymore!

Kinda of off topic, but during my impromptu DT solo trip I went to the new Mob Bar nestled in the Grand's location and I really enjoyed it. I didn't try the food, but they made a solid cocktails and the staff was really friendly. Here's their website.

I think Mob Bar is a good alternative to the east fremont scene. The clientele was a more diverse age wise and the atmosphere was a little more relaxed (but not comatose).

The Grand is shielded by construction barriers, no visible activity outside, but I saw a super duty pickup leaving the back gate around quitting time. Definitely recommend the Mob Bar. The menu is Italian tapas, what they called "small bites" ranging between five and twelve dollars. They looked like full plates to me, and all of the diners seemed pleased. I had the signature cocktail from their specialty drinks menu, priced six to twelve bucks. A Woodford Reserve bourbon infused with cherries named "the Usual", quite tasty!

Just did a little digging. There were timeshares in the Lady Luck. Are these still in use? Also not to thread-hack, but anyone have pictures of the ole Lady before she was shuttered? I've never gone there, but have been keeping tabs on what has been happening around the area. Mob Bar sounds like a good stop.

Haha. This place is starting to remind me of the mansion in Stephen Kings Salems Lot. A couple of humans during the day for appearances sake, and then there are a horde of vampires working fervishly at night.....

That's comical. Yeah, not any visible activity today, but the exterior paint job has completed. Still could see new computers inside casino area where they were in Feb. Gates were open and a few pickups within. Raining today

    Lady Luck

I'm curious too about the timeshares that the Lady Lucky sold before it shut down. Anybody know how the buyers were compensated or if they just lost their investment.

I went by there last week but just saw some guys standing around, not much going on outside. There was a sign saying they would not hire direct from the location so something must be going on inside

That sign has been there for 2 years as I walked by. Things looked promising with the signs being taken down and a new paint job, but that seems to be it (for now). Too bad; I hope things haven't prevented plans for renevation and reopening.

My gut tells me they did the exterior painting and sign removal to let everyone know that things are kicking into high gear, then moved all the efforts inside where it really counts. Lots of high expectations from the media, city, and locals, so if thing had stopped we'd know by now.

Walked by there a couple of weeks ago, similar observances.

What I wondered was, if there are people working inside, where are their vehicles? There didn't seem to be any signs of a construction crew onsite.

My thoughts exactly. Or where are they eating lunch? And when are they coming and going? When I stayed at the Gold Spike I spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony looking at this place, and there is NO action going on outside during daylight hours. I was thinking it looks like the windows in the towers are new though.... And the current owners said the the previous ones did all the demolition, stripping the interior bare down to concrete, but I did not ever see a single truck drive away with debris.
