    My Trip Report

Hey Folks, this is going to be my 7th trip to my favorite getwaway destination... LAS VEGAS!! Actually leaving Vegas the evening of the 30th, but have the room until the 31st since we have a late Wednesday flight and don't want to check out so dang early!!:nono::nworthy:

Recently got married on Leap Day, February 29th, 2012 in Las Vegas and we are using this trip as a "getaway" back to Sin City to take care of some of the stuff we were unable to do whilst there last time.:evillaugh

Like I said, this is my 7th trip. My Wife, we will call her MB, has been there many times since this is where her daughter(8) lives with her biological father. She isn't a huge gambler, but will stand by her man  and enjoy the numerous cocktails and people watching while I get my gamble on to the likes of Craps, Roullette, and the occasional BlackJack game. Also plan to get some gamble in during the early mornings while she is "getting ready":evillaugh

We arrive Sunday morning at approximately 10am via Southwest from Reno, NV which is where she currently lives with her son (4) while finishing up her job. When we return from Vegas, we will be "finally" moving her westward to the Bay Area where I am currently stationed as a member of the US Military.

Lots of exciting times coming our way, and this trip is a way to unwind before we combine our blended families together as one. Because once summer gets here, there will be 6 of us living here in this house with a total of 4 kids :poke:, as her daughter will be coming to live with us for the summer and next school year.:woohoo::woohoo:

Our Vegas budget is a total of $4500.
$3000 is strictly for gambling. (Hope it doesn't come to that)
$500 is for her Spa treatment. (Mother's Day Gift)
    $1000 is for food/miscellaneous ( Delmonico's on 28th for sure!)

Currently, we are booked at Caesars Palace in an Octavius King Deluxe room. Not alot of info out there on them as they are the newest rooms available at CP. Kind of bouncing back and forth between keeping this room or moving over to the same type room in the Augustus Tower. Pros/Cons?? Regardless, the room will be comped so there isn't a price difference with either choice so should not be considered a factor.

Sidenote: We already have awesome seat/tickets to see Jersey Boys on the 29th! Very excited about that! These tickets were not factored into the above "budget" at all. When we got married in February, we saw all the signs and tv commercials for this show and knew we wanted to go see it.

So....... if interested, then I invite you all along on our little Vegas Journey. I've read so many trip reports on here and gained so much knowledge from various peoples experiences, it is my turn to give back. And maybe make a little money. And definitely make some memories with my wonderful new bride, MB.

    Congrats on urupcoming trip.
I looks like you have a lot of great things planned.
We ate at Delmonicos on one of our first trips and really liked it.
Hubs was inpressed at how friendly everyone was for how formal it was.

Will she do the Qua Spa at Caesars?
    I hear it's totally fabulous!

Thank you! Not sure about which spa. Leaning towards Spa at Ballys for more treatments for the money. I can get her 4 hours of massages, facials, etc... for $500. And I have a 20% off coupon. (HEY!, I'm Practical... don't judge. :nono: ) I know QUA is supposed to be wonderful, but want her to get more than 2-50 minute massages or treatments.

Wow -Sounds like a great trip, Congrats on your recent wedding and good luck on the blended family. Hope everything works out well for everyone! We just saw Jersey Boys last month...thrilled when it moved to the Paris. We had 2nd row seats (grrr $241 each - thanks to our Great Race Comps from last fall) - It was beyond great. We may see it again next year. We are not ones that see shows all the time and are very picky what we go to. A couple of years ago we saw LOVE - being baby boomers...we were flooded with memories and thought it was fantastic. Hope you enjoy JB as much as we did. :):)

Hope you have a winning trip and enjoy the place we all love so much. Please let us know how it went when you return home....would love to hear all about it!!

Sybgal: Thank you for your well wishes! Very excited about JB also. And I will definitely write a trip report upon our return. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it enought that you are contemplating going back to see it again.

General Question to anyone.... If I book 3 different 50 minute spa treatments for my wife at Qua, for a total of $330, what is a proper tip to leave for the staff? Not wise in the ways of Spas, and didn't know if it was similar to restaurants. Do you leave one tip and it gets disbursed to everyone involved, or to each person individually? Thanks!!

I think they add 20 percent for the tip. You can leave more for really good service.

Just go to Harrahs website and bring up Ceasers, then go to the spa and salon and check out the specials and regular
    services.

Booked those 3 treatments last night for the wifey (MB). So excited as I think she will enjoy this level of spa more than the one at Ballys. Thank you for the heads up on the specials. Very grateful.:nworthy:
Heading for Vegas on Sunday, but leaving for Reno on Friday. Not sure if there will be gambling... but will definitely be nice to see my wife again.
Cannot wait until we aren't doing this commute every week to be together. Even if there is no gambling... there is sure to be some fun going on.:ssst::beer:
Until then..... I guess I will continue reading about everyone elses adventures to the greatest destination in the world!!:peace:

    Part One: Reno (Pre Vegas)

Evening of May 25th - Morning of May 26th:

Today was the day that we would be having MB's going away celebration at Silver Legacy Casino with all of her co-workers. It was going to be at Brewhouse Pub. It was a happy and sad time for all. But the girls seemed to all have lots of fun dancing and drinks were flowing aplenty.

To start the evening off, MB and I went to Sterling's Steakhouse inside of the Silver Legacy. I had the 16oz. Ribeye "Oscar Style" and it was wonderful. Cooked to perfection and the crab and asparagus as well as the Bernaisse sauce was very succulent. MB had the Filet and Tiger Prawns. Chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. :cheers:It was a very enjoyable meal and we both left very full and satisfied.

At one point in time during the evening, I decided I would rather stay in the hotel tonight instead of driving the 15 minutes back to MB's house. So, I left the girls at the pub and went down to the casino floor to say hello to my favorite craps dealers and have someone page my Casino Host. They said she would be there in 10-15 minutes as she was upstairs taking care of another client. So, what do you do when you have time to kill in a casino???:ssst: Well, this guys plays a few hands of $25/hand blackjack. Made a quick and easy $300 in the time it took my host to get there. (11 minutes) Cashed out and rejoined the party upstairs at the pub.:evillaugh
It wasn't a huge score, but it is $300 more than I had a minute ago. And to make a long story short, the hotel was oversold on this night and no rooms were available.:cry:

As I write this, I am now about 20 hours 30 minutes from being in Vegas. Tonight is the military retirement party of MB's roommate. More food and drinks. No gambling. So I won't bore you with the details of that. Cannot wait to get to Sin City. I like RENO alot..... but it is NOT Las Vegas.

Hey Ace...Just noticed you list your home as Travis AFB...are you active or former military? Want to say thank you for your service. We love and appreciate all our military that sacrifice so much. We come from a long line of servicemen....all 4 branches. Hope your trip is the best!!

Sybgal.... Thank you for your warm thank you. It is an honor to serve. Been active duty Air Force for just shy of 16 years. My second stint at Travis. It's got its good days and bad as well. Looking forward to retirement and a new direction as far as careers go. But don't regret it one bit. Leaving for the Reno airport in 45 minutes!!!! Come on Vegas!!!!!!!!!
