What is the draw specifically to Foundation room? If it is just the view I suggest MIX instead. I've only ever been to eat dinner then head over to the lounge, but the view is great, good vibe, and you can get an amazing dinner pretty fair priced with the Restaurant.com gift cert

The easiest way is to have the concierge at your hotel call and put your name on the guest list. The Foundation Room page on the Mandalay Bay website includes the phone number.

    Enjoy!

On a Thursday you may well find the pass promoters around the area of FRs elevator, look sharp and they will give you a pass many times. I am friends with a dancer there so we are lucky enough to get comped. BTW the view, bartenders and vibe at FR blows away MIX, last week we went to MIX and man it had dropped in our book from our stay in December, they were gving passes away to seemingly anyone with a pulse. Never would have though I would see the likes of the dress I saw there that night, more like Gilleys than MIX has ever been.

    Foundation Room > MIX

By the way, Chad Elder is host for Foundation Room. I dont have his contact info, but here is his facebook. He may be able to take care of all the needs.

If you are an attractive young lady, promoters will hand out passes to you in the MB casino during the day.

I do not have this advantage, but I have easily been able to talk my way past the doorman early in the evening "just for happy hour." Dress the part, be polite, and approach with confidence when there is no line.

The vibe is very, very cool. There was an acoustic guitarist and a very chic but low key, local crowd when I have been in Foundation Room.

All of this applies to weeknights, not sure about Fri/Sat.

I was curious too, when we were in Mandalay last weekend, we walked by, but we decided we didn't want to pay a cover (pretty much just wanted to see the view, and i've been to MIX)

    is Foundation room more lively?

I know it wasn't in the question, but if you need an option closer to the center of the strip, the bar on the 23rd? floor of Mandarin Oriental has some great views. Just simply head into the lobby, head towards the elevator(if someone asks just say you are headed up to the bar) and walk in. The 2 times I've gone I just sat at the bar, but each time we could have gotten a table from the hostess there as well.

It is certainly not a club, but if you are interested in a nice lounge to have a drink or 2, I would absolutely recommend it. They used to have some nice music(live jazz band when I was there), but I've heard they may have taken this out due to complaints from residents.

I've been handed free passes to go up to the foundation room with no cover on many occasions. usually there are some time restrictions, but they are still free passes, no cover. They are often over by the Mandalay Bay Hotel/Beach Elevators handing them out.

Foundation Room and Mix have totally different vibe's, so its hard to compare. Sure, neither aren't a "happening" spot anymore, however both are still nice. It really becomes more subjective than anything and I would have a hard time deciding which one is "better" or has a "better view"..

Here are pictures from both terraces we took prior to city center being complete.

Assuming you are referring to FR, there is a dedicated hotel elevator for the FR, which is by all the other elevators going up to the rooms. Technically it's in the hall way area sort of, just outside the hotel room elevators.

Just came back from Foudation Room

We visited Vegas last weekend. My husband and I were actually intending to go to Foundation Room and had a late dinner reservation. When we walked into lobby of the hotel...looking lost and trying to figure out which way it was (and walking in wrong direction)...a young guy in a suit intercepted us and offered to "walk us in" for free. It was about 9:30 and we were walked to the elevators and given free entry. Pretty simple, but again early. We were thinking of going to dinner then to their club. But, we bagged the dinner idea when we both realized that we weren't hungry.

I had researched FR and found several posts describing it as an older male crowd with younger women. That was pretty much spot on. As the night continued, the crowd (men) became younger. The place is pretty small, with a few different rooms. It's pretty standard, bottle service would get you a place to sit and enjoy it alot more. The patio outside was full at 9:30, and nowhere to dance. So, you can snap a pitcure of the view and stand crammed with the others there listening to the music, but that's about it. Nice lounge. But, kinda strange layout and awkward as a nightclub.

I'm still looking for a "go to" place to club with my husband. With my ladies we enjoy Cathouse. Say hi to Crystal if you go....really HOT bottle service server. :) When it's just two of us (hubby and I) I have more trouble justifying bottle service.

Place looks awesome. Will be making a visit for a nightcap after our trip to L'Atelier (if we have room) in Jan.

You might not be able to head over to Mix in June, there are a lot of rumors circulating that the venue might get shut down as a result of the Morgans Group taking over THE hotel from Mandalay Bay ( MG is the hotel management company that handles numerous properties across the world, and is the majority shareholder and primary financiers of Light Group that is one of the largest nightlife/restaurant management companies in LasVegas) which means that depending on the terms of the takeove, Light Group may be taking over miX and changing it around (they already acquired all of China Grill Managements' holding at Mandalay Bay including Rumjungle, Red Square, Red White & Blue, Strip Steak, China Grill) and since miX is part owned/ managed by Mandalay Bay and China Grill Management, it's likely to be revamped as something entirely different as part of an overall deal.
I'll update when more information comes to light.

I am a guge of the Foundation Room. I like to go there to unwind or take a break from the tables.
