I'm here in Vegas now, and the thing that has us laughing whenever we walk down the street are the porn slappers. What's their deal? They claim prostitution is illegal in Clark County, but yet every 10 feet there's a little Mexican man or woman handing out these little cards with naked women on them to whoever will take them.

Prostitution is illegal. Gentleman clubs are not.

I can not tell from your post whether you are bothered by them or not.

I am amazed at how people are bothered by porn slappers. I just imagine they are not even there and walk by. They won't chase you or most likely say anything. One time when I ignored a porn slapper, he did say something. I ignored him. It was not worth the trouble.

Someday, the economics of the business will change, and porn slappers will disappear. People will then moan about the good old days, when all those cute little cards were available.

For some time, I've been pushing for a porn slapper museum. Start now, before it's too late!

Gentlemen clubs and a whole host of other things.

As I understand it, basically as long as the transaction is not explicitly sex for money, you can advertise it and partake in it - though of course the courts would make the final decision if someone were to challenge you on it.

I remember reading in an interview with an 'escort' (a moderately-priced one) that she has a standardised speech she gives to each client, where she essentially says that they're buying her time so they can have fun together. If they happen to like each other and mutually decide to have sex, that may occur, but it's not explicitly guaranteed and not a part of the deal that involves exchanging money (though, surprisingly, sex does often happen - imagine that). I don't know if that would hold up in court, but making such an agreement even verbally would probably ward off a lot of police attempts at a sting operation as long as the speech was properly worded.

Every time I go to vegas I always grab a few porn slapper cards for memorabilia. The last time I went my wife saw that I had a few and freaked out lol.

I think the funniest thing I ever saw with a porn slapper was when we were walking between PH to Paris and this older couple (I think they were from eastern Europe) was walking in front of us. The porn slapper handed the man a few cards out of nowhere his wife slapped the hell out of his hands and the cards went flying. She cursed that poor man in their dialect from Paris all the way to Bills Gambling Hall. I actually enjoy the porn slappers what pisses me off are the Time Share people or those who are offering the worthless VIP pass.

I'm currently working on a Ladies of the Night 2012 complete set. I'm missing "Jasmine", "Misti" and "Coco" if you care to trade :wink2:

They could be home collecting welfare and watching cable TV instead of making a few bucks so I guess you have to give them some credit. If that's the only way you could feed your kids, what would you do?

Don't do it man, it's all scam.

They just keep printing new sets faster than you can buy them - a.k.a. the 'Pokemon' method of business.

And much like Pokemon, there's no way to 'catch them all.'

So someone comes up to me and gives me pictures of scantily clad young women in suggestive poses and i am supposed to be offended?

I walk alone up and down the strip and I find them very annoying. Groups will see me and crowd in front of me, blocking my way while snapping the cards in my face. I've even had them try to press cards into the palm of my hand as I squeeze by. Is it really that amazing for someone to be bothered by this?

I personally am not bothered by them, I actually enjoy watching them. My buddies and I were rating them last night based on the snap of the card. If they didn't properly do the snap/slap, we didn't take their card. If the proper sound was heard, we happily took their offerings. :D

However, like JJ, I can see where people would get offended. Especially if someone is there with young ones that shouldn't be exposed to that sort of thing. Yesterday afternoon both of my hands were full (not with porn slapper cards, but one hand was carrying a drink and the other was my shopping bags) and they still tried to hand me cards. I guess they thought a third hand would appear magically and take their card.

Its part of the scenery. LOL. doesnt bother me, I just avoid them as they arent even there. I honestly dont ever realize theyre there. But at the same time, I rarely walk the strip anyways.

Only time I'm on the sidewalk is walking from PH to Paris or PH to Cosmo. Other than that, I hardly ever encounter them.

That is the way they explained it on Gigolos on Showtime. As long as they are hired for actual escort dates, the sex isn't really prostitution. However, it seems to me that the only point of many dates is to hook up. It gives the impression that call girls are okay in Clark County but they will go after streetwalkers to keep up appearances.

I find it annoying and all the litter it creates on the streets looks terrible.

Yeah the litter bothers me too

I assume the city makes them get some sort of license or something to hand them out right?
They should have to be responsible for cleaning up the "spoils" haha!

When I walk past the Porn Slappers I go into my head down, hands in my pocket & keep moving mode.

Its part of the Vegas scene, its been that way since my first time going in 1989 as a young 11 year old learning about girls, loved getting those cards :wink2: Last few times I have went I have not taken any cards, and I have not found the guys/girls handing them out to be offensive or rude or anything, I ignore them they go onto the next person. I agree, the ones that annoy me are the club pass/timeshare people. I too agree that those porn slappers are at least have a job. I do not know many people who would want to stand outside in the over 100 degree heat for 16 hours a day give or take for more/less min wage.

Took a walk down LVB from Mirage to Mandalay Bay this afternoon. One thing I noticed is that the porn slappers are pretty much centered from Caesars Palace to about where NYNY is. Absolutely none around the Excalabur/Luxor/MB area. Completely different atmosphere down that way, less traffic both on foot and vehicle, and much quieter.
