    Thank you for the suggestion.

I don't care for cooking. I have a rotation of simple to prepare meals I eat.

    I do like grilling.

Eat out once every two weeks to mix things up.

It looks like that pie is sold out. Decision is made for me.

I am sure I can find a bakery that makes just as good an apple pie for the same cost.

    lol

Yes, I imagine there's one baker in the destitute OC who can beat a box.

I'm working on an article about American barbecue (and grilling). It's a real kick.

Wife raved about the apple pies at a local agri-tourist farm until I saw the baker take frozen pies out of a box and put them in the oven. They were Mrs. Mrs. Smiths foodservice brand.

I applaud those who make their own pie crust, it is truly a labor of love. The only home made pie crust I make is Pizza. If you can get high gluten flour and yeast, you are halfway there, it's very simple and likely better than you'll buy at your local pizza joint.

An apology in advance to Blue and the stay-on-point crowd:

Hammie, do you ever use some corn meal in your pizza dough? Probably wouldn't fly in Joisey but it is a staple for us at home.

Ken, no, haven't tried that one yet. But I sprinkle corn meal on the pizza stone and peel to help the dough slide off. I can get Kyrol High Gluten Flour at a bulk food store, they repack it into 5-6 lb bags. Haven't tried the 25 lb. bag of Sam's club flour as I would end up wasting it but my brother uses it and said it's fine. I also find it best to grate a block of mozzarella rather than buy it pre-grated in a bag. One of these days I would like to get around to making my own mozzarella just for kicks.

King Arthur bread flour in the Zo works well, with a little whole wheat, or is a bread machine for pizza dough prep a sacrilege?

I can't make a good pie crust half of the time. I think it depends on the weather. But unless you're using Red Delicious, you just have to be able to make better filling than what comes in a box.
