I am from out of country....I get to spend approx 96 to 120 hours in vegas. I will not wait in line for an hour for anything.

They do accept driving licences as ID everywhere EXCEPT the slot clubs. This is a change made by the gaming control board I have been told. (I haven't checked the validity of this, but I only needed my passport when I was getting a replacement card.)

I was checked in to all of my hotels last trip just using the driving licence, and that was MGM Group, Caesars Group, Boyd Group and El Cortez.

    Flamingo

Just got back yesterday from a week in Vegas. 5 days at Flamingo, 2 at the
Orleans. This was our first time at the Flamingo and we had no problems whatsoever. We are both diamond players in our 50's, we don't have a host, and went to the pool each day from about 9:30am to 1 pm. 3 days at the GO pool and 2 at the beach pool. We switched to the beach pool to see what it was like and it was definitely more sedate, but we had no problems at the GO pool. We had a GO luxury room with a strip view and it was OK. I guess I expected a little more. We used our reward points for food, and our room was comped for the five days. We are basically slot and video poker players. This place worked out great for us and we would definitely stay there again. To each his own I guess.

Well, the older a casino becomes, the cheaper it becomes, and the more it attracts the younger crowd. That would be my guess. Also obviously on Cinco De Mayo it's going to be rowdy.

Minus the fabulous GO rooms, I thought the rest of the place was outdated, in disrepair. The slots were old and dingy. The parking garage is disgusting (random, but it is). If they would redo the whole place I think it would be wonderful. I wanted to take my parents there, but I don't think I will because they would think the rest of the property is gross.

But, it's a 3.5 star hotel, it's not fancy, it's a step below almost everything else on the strip. You have to recognize that. If you want something nice step up to Paris, PH.. etc etc.

The more I read in this thread the more I'm incline to cancel my 2 night reservation at the Flamingo and just go elsewhere

I've got 6 weeks to decide anyway and I'll probably end up just going to Encore or something for an extra $150. I've stayed most of Harrahs resorts on the strip and this is one of the only ones I haven't stayed at.

I did fancy giving the Flamingo a go, I was going to upgrade my GO luxury view to a suite and being so close to centre strip appeals to me with limited mobility.

I'll have to ponder a while and make a decision nearer the time depending on how I'm feeling when I'm in Vegas. Definitely some food for thought though in the thread.

Went to the Flamingo 3 out of the last 4 years and had a great time everytime.

Mancation 2012 is booked for this year in July and cant wait for the pool. We had a blast last year.

I also cant wait to see the new carlos and Charlies place and the Margaritaville casino.

I get goose bumps thinking about having that first beer in that refreshing Flamingo pool water. :)

BTW anyone know if I can change my name to Mancation 2012 :) Thanks

Flamingo is one of the places i frequent when i'm in vegas, and i was actually impressed with their hospitality. All of the dealers were fun/helpful. The pit boss that was assigned to my tables has to be the most nicest pit boss in vegas. I'll be staying there for the 1st time in a week and a half after staying at caesars all my previous trips, so we'll see

My experience has been once you go over to Caesars, Flamingo can't stand a chance.
But I hope everything works out for you and you have a great trip.

I tried Caesars and didnt care for it a bit. I did like my strip view room in the Augustus tower though!

This for me too, I had an Augustus Tower looking out over the fountains and other than the bar which was nearest to registration for a drink I didn't really care to spend much time there either.

That was really my rationale for staying somewhere cheaper. It's a beautiful hotel, but besides their pool, i really didn't do much of anything there. Most of the dealers i encountered there aren't very friendly. And i'm a person that doesn't like spending $50+ for a meal, so most of there restaurants are out. They have a great mall, but i'm not much of a shopper.

I read the OP and some of the comments that ensued. I’d like to first also mirror the sentiment of the person who said that the blood in the shower is totally unacceptable

We’ve stayed at the Paris and at Caesar’s over our trips to Vegas; we were considering Flamingo this time. My stepson and his cousin stayed in a Go Deluxe one time while we were out there and The Mister thought it was a ‘fun’ room and as “younger” people, they really enjoyed the pool (this was three years ago)

After reading the OP’s account and some of the other replies, I think that we’re just going to keep our reservations at the Paris again this year… I think that their pool is a little more our speed anyway.

My finace dislikes the feel of Ceasar's palace, she doesn't like the way it looks inside for some reason. Go figure, she's way more excited about the Flamingo (SCORE! :p Saves me some cash!)
