I've decided I am going to run the Vegas Marathon 2012. Too bad they moved up the starting time. Guess they can't call it "Strip At Night" anymore.

Time to get new running shoes and start training.

Life is good. Take it in STRIDE!

If interested, do a search as there was a recent post about the Vegas Marathon as it received terrible reviews. My wife debated about running the 1/2 marathon but opted not to after reading the thread.

With the fiasco of 2011, I am sure the organizers are going to learn from their mistakes and try harder this year. Plus Zappos probably doesn't want to be embarrassed that way again.

I am planning to run the half myself.

Although it was a fiasco last year, I have heard through many different outlets that the organizers have made a ton of changes. Of course, until it goes off without a hitch (or as many hitches as last year) we can't guarantee that they have made enough changes. I have faith that it will be better though.

Good luck and have fun to those who run.

i ran the half last year and it wasn't too terrible but perhaps because it was my first organized race, i had zero expectations. the first few miles were a bit hectic avoiding slower runners that moved up corrals (i was in 9), but after that i settled into my pace and it wasn't too terrible.

i enjoyed it so much that i'll be back this december

Wow, the course time limit for the marathon is 4 1/2 hours, that is much lower than normal for other marathons.

I ran the full marathon last year and didn't think I would do it again, but here I go back at it. I reviewed the changes they made in the not only the course, but in how the start and finish lines will be facilitated and where they are located. It makes much more sense now. Even with a 3:00 start time, we'll haves some night-time running. In fact, I like going from daylight to dusk to darkness.
I really think the race organizers will be doing all they can to avoid the 2011 fiasco.

For those who ran last year, do you remember if there was packet pick-up on race day? How late did they stay open on Saturday? The times are not posted for the Expo yet and I want to book my flights on this current SW sale.

I don't remember from last year.

Did I read that there is a 4:30 course time limit? That is insane and I think I will stay away from the full until I am fast!

Last year, they also had a 4:30 cutoff and it was not enforced.

My time was 3:49, which I was happy with considering the crowded conditions and the fact I hadn't did a marathon for several years.
