Have not heard anything recently on the progress of MGM's renovations, especially in regards to rooms. Was wondering how far along they are, and what the completion percentage rate is likely to be by my August check-in.

from what i hear, they have quite a few of the lower floors done and are currently working on the Terrace suites to be done by July. by August, they should be well along on all the different room types.

but man they're charging a pretty penny for the remodeled rooms right now. my host says the comp value on a standard remodeled room is $170/night on the weekend.

If you have MLife even at the lowest tier you can get an upgraded room for $59 a night. It was sent to my e-mail a week or so ago and it was open ended with no block out dates from now to the end of summer.

I am assuming Shifter meant that the comp value is $170. If this is the case that means you have to play enough to pay that off before they will give you additional comps (food, shows, etc.). If you are paying $59, the value of the comp would be $111.

This is why you are sometimes better off not getting a suite through casino marketing or a host.....It can hurt the amount of the other comps you may get.

I believe if you can sweet talk (with a twenty) at the front desk the upgrade doesnt go against your comps.

yes, i was talking about the comp value aka the amount of comps you must earn to "pay" for the room. i was looking at doing a favor for some friends and getting some rooms for them on my comps, but at $170/night forget it!

Has anyone tried to $20 trick at MGM? Any success? I'll be staying there following Memorial Day weekend--and its a Tues-Fri weekday stay, so would be willing to try if it seems to work.

I'm here till Friday at a great rate. Our Grand King room is very nice. They did a great job renovating the place. Even the hallways are completely redone. Asked the front desk guy NICELY for a decent view and he gave us a room on the 26th floor looking out at NYNY, Monte Carlo and Aria. Very pleased.

As of the first week in April at least the first 4 floors of rooms was done. They hadn't made it up to the 24th floor yet. But they were doing floors at an amazing rate.

they already did much of the casino reno. but i think they are planning to replace all the carpet, but i'm sure that will be done in many stages to only close a small area at a time.

They are doing a big marketing campaign on these new rooms, promo code available on the board, I got decent rates during the WSOP just hate getting whacked with the resort fee... Can stay at Aria + $100 resort credit for the same rate as MGM newly remodeled rooms
