Recommend a route for a day of off-strip casino hopping

My husband and I are going to Vegas for our 4th time. We will be staying at Southpoint from Sunday until Saturday and we're packing an overnight bag for a 1 night stay at Main Street Station on Wednesday night. We are thinking of taking 1 day (probably Tuesday) to go casino hopping to a handful of off-strip casinos. We were so happy to find Southpoint from some recommendations on this board but, we don't want to count out some other places that we might enjoy as well. The places we want to go to should be fairly new and clean (not dives or seedy) have slots that pay well and have bartop VP with decent pay tables and comped drinks. We have come up with M, Silverton and Green Valley Ranch. I would like everyone's suggestions about these and any others that fit the category. Also, give us a good order to do them in so we are minimizing our driving. We're willing to spend about 12 hours making the route so, 6 places would not be unreasonable. Appreciate your input!!

 

Red Rock fits the fairly new and clean category, don't know about VP and I have had minimal luck on slots there. I believe there is a Coast casino nearby that I haven't hit yet.

 

m and silverton are solid choices. low table minimums and lots of decent slots/vp. been to red rock as well, very nice casino but not much luck on machines. i did win $600 on the craps table last visit. some good food choices as well. a friend really raves about aliante station. i've never been but it is about as far from southpoint as you can get. i also enjoyed orleans and cannery as well. it's always good to explore! you never know what you'll find or how lucky you might get! good luck!

 

Love M and GVR. I absolutely hated the Silverton though. Also would second the Orleans suggestion. Been to RR once and really didn't have much luck there and it's a long drive from those southern casinos.

 

We try to do M and GVR every trip. Both are nice and M has a fantastic buffet.

 

Skip Aliante! Way too far out, and you can hit Red Rock for a similar look.

The following itinerary should meet your needs:

You could take the 215 W. out to Red Rock Station.

Head East on Charleston and hit the Suncoast or Rampart.

Then take Summerlin Pkwy East turns into the 95 head past downtown and hit either Sam's Town or Eastside Cannery

Keep on going and maybe hit Sunset Station

Then merge onto the 215 West and make a stop by GVR before heading back to the South Point.

This should give you a full day dive-free route!

 

I would do the counter-clockwise rotation ...

1. Drive south on LV Blvd to M Resort
2. Drive NE on St. Rose Pkwy to Paseo Verde pkwy and GVR
3. Take I-215 east to Fiesta Henderson
4. Take Lake Mead Dr to Boulder Hwy, and then North to Eastside Cannery and/or Sam's Town

Of course, if you decide you don't want to leave M once you are there, everything else is cancelled

 

I would keep it simple. Start with Orleans, than the Silverton, then M.
If you've done that route and want more, go out to Red Rock. Those should fill your day!

 

If you decide to go out northwest, as far as Red Rock ... I would instead go north on Rampart Blvd (Ft. Apache to the south), and definitely visit the Rampart ... you will not be disappointed.

The Suncoast is only a very short hop to the south of the Rampart, and it is a Coast property, if that makes any difference. AND ... if you play 300 points, the lunch buffet is free ... and for 600 points, the dinner buffet is free ... by using one of the self-service kiosks to print a voucher.

Ok...with the information I have been given and using Google Maps which is AWESOME, here is the ambitious route:

Rampart
Red Rock
Orleans
Silverton
Green Valley Ranch
M

We'll see how we do on time if we can hit all of them. From what I can see on the websites, Red Rock and M seem like definite must-do's. Let me know if you would change anything.

 

Decided to do Rampart and Red Rock on our way back from our 1 night stay at Main Street Station. Gives us more time on the 1 day to do the others as they are closer to South Point.
