I am a CET player but I got a MLife offer. If you have comped nights do they always charge you the silly $18/night resort fee even if your room is free. If not what do you say when you call, to get them to waive them?

I was just going to double book and take the $50 they were offering but its not worth the hassle if I have to give back $18/night.

    Thanks

Depends on the casino. I can vouch that Mirage, Aria, and MB waive resort fees on a comp. Others dont. Tell us your casino, and you will probably get your answer.

We've stayed at the MGM on a comp and they didn't charge us the resort fee.

We have 2 nights comp at MB. When booking they stated there is a resort fee. Do you ask at checkin to have that waived?

I have never paid a resort fee at any MGM property. I would ask them to waive it on a comped room

getting the resort fee comped just depends on your play, i think. it's just another fee that eats up your comps. if you have the comps for it, they will waive it. if you don't, they may charge it to you.

For $50 in free play I don't think it would be worth it, especially if you have to pay the resort fee.

But otherwise, for your question there really is no answer: if you asked enough people you could find people for each hotel who have and have not been charged a resort fee... some who fit in both categories (myself being one: I've stayed at both Monte Carlo and Excalibur where on one trip I was charged a resort fee and on another I was not).

It seems that Monte Carlo is hardest to get the resort fee comped. That's one reason they are off my list :nono:

I have never been charged a resort fee at any MLife property, and I have not paid for a room or meal in the past 8 years staying at the Bellagio. That being said, Shifter is correct, the resort fee is there but your play is what determines your comps, whether that is a room fee, food, beverage, free play, show tickets, limos, etc. Your level of play is the standard on which your comp. accrue, how you use them is your option.

Its NYNY although the offer is good at all the low end MLIFE resorts. Maybe I will call again a few times and see if they will waive it since its for 2 nights comped.

I was just looking for people's experiences and appreciate all the feedback so far.

If Monte Carlo is the worst NYNY is the second worst about charging the resort fee. I wasted about a half hour one day trying to not pay that stupid fee on my comped room.

They lost a customer that day.

Never paid resort fee even though they sometimes said I had to.

There have been some reports nyny may still suck it out of you

But, with $50 free play, if you low play them, it will probably be your last offer

    You lose!

I'm with No Stress. Some of my emailed confirmations say "A daily resort of $20 will be added..." But they never actually did once I check in to the hotel. I think its just generic verbiage on all confirmations. I have never had to pay a resort fee on a comped room anywhere in vegas. Not even at TI (not MLife but they have the fee as well)

Last trip they said the Resort Fee was not comped but in the end it was.
They said the same for this next trip....hopefully the results will be the same.

I was charged the resort fee at Luxor on a comp room and wrote an email to guest services. It was refunded quickly.

From my expereince NYNY will add the resort fee each day on your comped offer. I have found it will only be 'comped' off if your play warrants it (i.e. will eat into your express comps).

As an example I have a very good relationship with my host there, however, for one specific trip I could not get the resort fee comped at the end of my stay. My express comps balance was at '0' and I had used those express comps elsewhere. Implied Translation - she could not comp the resort fee charges via discretionary comps. Boo.

My 2 cents: So, I wouldn't assume resort fees will simply be 'comped' all of the time. Assume its a daily $18.40 charge and it will be an option to have it comped but it will come from your express comp balance.

    YMMV

I had a comp night at mandalay earlier this month, I'm 90% they didn't charge me the fee. When I checked out they said everything was taken care of.

It did say in the e-mail when i booked it that it would be charged though.
