Here's a vintage video that just came along in a newsletter. Great great footage from 1962. http://www.acontinuouslean.com/2011/10/17/las-vegas-in-kodachrome-c-1962/
Bump.............. Great thread. Have been here hours already. Never realised the heritage and history before so when i'm there in a few days it will be very poignant
The other day I visited my grandmother, who gave me an old scrapbook of my grandparents' one and only trip to Vegas in August 1980, when my grandfather (a GMC light and medium duty truck salesman) won a salesman-of-the-year contest and got an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas, with rooms at the Aladdin. There's lots of other neat pictures in the book of Downtown, the Aladdin, the old MGM Grand/Bally's, the Dunes, the Sands, etc., but I haven't had a chance to scan them yet. In the meanwhile, here's pictures I took of the Aladdin's room service menu that she had saved: http://imgur.com/a/LSo2m
Came across this beauty when going through my mom's things. I'm on the left as a 19 year old in 1978. I love my parents for turning me on to Las Vegas at such an early age. They taught me how to have fun in life. Thanks Mom and Dad.
How about my parents in 1967 And their children and grandchildren in 2013 Headless angel and fountain still intact some 46 years later
Does anyone know how to put old photos onto this site? I have many old pics i took in the 70's/80's sitting in my closet. What do i need to do?
I'm transferring all my parents old pics using a decent camera. I'm putting them in good light (daylight) and with a steady hand just taking their picture. I use to scan them but that takes too long. I can snap 50 pics in just minutes. Some of the older faded ones come out real good with some photo editing software like Picasa. These were hand held pics.
